in Google Sets Contacts Free on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
I really don't see the point of it. What's the news? It's still the old clunky contacts we've had for years. Heck, it's not even synced properly w/ Google Voice contacts. Yes, so many people are using FB or Twitter to communicate, you'd think Google would be combining all that...perhaps a combo Reader/Gmail/Twitter tool using all the API available...with all contacts in one place. Heck, could they at least open a spot to record Twitter names for those contacts you don't wanna follow that closely on Twitter?

My first thought was that CNN are going where the masses are. Twitter doesn't come close to the user count that Facebook has.

in Poll: Tell Us What You Think Of The Fiver on EPL Talk
I quit reading it a while ago because it got to the point where it seems as if they are trying too hard to be funny.

in The Pitfalls Of Watching Soccer On Satellite TV on EPL Talk
I'll take the loss of reception a handful of times/year over all the BS monopoly attitude Comcast gives us any day. DTV gives me much better options and quality customer service...they'll continue to get my money.

in Shoot Magazine, Thanks For The Memories on EPL Talk
Those league ladders were the best. Watching Final Score Saturday afternoon and trying to catch everything so you could update your ladder as soon as possible. I haven't read Shoot in 20+ years (getting old now) so I'm not sure I'll miss it (would love to find some old copies of Roy of the Rovers though...mom threw all mine out years ago).
One thing though, modern versions of the league ladders can be found here. http://www.michaelwray.co.nz/ They are spreadsheets which are really just 21st century versions of the league ladders but for big kids. :)

in Could ESPN Steal Andy Gray From Sky Sports? | EPL Talk on EPL Talk
I read something a few months ago about ESPN talking to Setanta about buying them. It would give the Disney channel a huge foothold for their properties in Europe and....well, Setanta does own some EPL rights in North America. Should be interesting. Just remember, it was only a few years ago we were paying $20 to watch a fuzzy match on a TV in the corner of the pub....we've come a long way already.

in How ESPN Would Change The Face of Premier League Coverage On U.S. TV on EPL Talk
I think the only really far fetched part of the piece was Leeds making it back to the Premiership as they'll still be in League 1 next season.
I read something a couple months ago (wish I could find it now) that ESPN were looking to buy Setanta. Not sure where that whole thing is now...haven't seen anything.
Anyone know how long the current broadcast rights contact for North America is for? I seem to recall one was recently signed and in effect for 2 or 3 years. It wasn't that long ago that Fox was buying it weeks before the start of the season and then reselling matches to Setanta. However, now with Setanta having a full-time channel (not just PPV) there was a recent bidding war...well more than one bidder.
