in What would you like to change about the holiday season? on Carrie and Danielle
I would love to see folks stop using artificial trees in their homes. They are not biodegradable and really harm our environment. I would also like to see all the madness with shopping stop. Especially the parents who take their children shopping for their own toys. We should be concentrating on giving meaninful gifts. We should encourage charity not "stuff".

in What do you find beautiful about your body? on Carrie and Danielle
How interesting. Just the other day I was admiring my own legs/feet. I do have some sexy toes and strong legs. They are my best asset and believe me I can work them in a pair of peep-toe stilettos and sandals.

in What is something completely luxurious that you dream of owning? on Carrie and Danielle
I agree with Carrie because I too long for more time and definitely more money so I could experience life the way I see it in my mind.
However, I do covet a modern eco-friendly house(designed by me)on many acres of land mortgage free of course near the ocean. I would fill my house with original art from my favorite artists. I need to stop here because this post will be VERY long.

in What do you find sexy? on Carrie and Danielle
I find honesty, confidence and a good sense of humor very sexy in people. A man who smiles with his eyes and has a great pair of strong hands always gets my attention.

in What did you learn from your favorite mistake? on Carrie and Danielle
How to choose just one. I've made so many. My biggest was marrying a man I did not love and moving to another city away from everything I knew and people I loved. But that mistake led me to the love of my life, a beautiful child and a city I now call home. So are mistakes really mistakes? As I get older I realize they are just little detours filled with lessons that hopefully make us grow.

in If you suddenly inherited $10,000, what would you do with it? on Carrie and Danielle
I could use $10,000 right about now. If I did inherit any money I would save 1/2 and put 1/2 on my mortgage.

in This Labor Day, how would you change our work culture? on Carrie and Danielle
Equal pay for equal work to start. A 4 day week and telecommuting options. 30 days vacation mandatory. And yes, I agree with Danielle on maternity leave. It's ridiculous to leave your baby in 6 weeks to go back to work. Parents should be allowed to stay home for one year. Yup. One year.

in What’s your favorite easy thing to cook? on Carrie and Danielle
The easiest thing for me to cook is rice. I make it a million ways. Coconut rice, spicy rice with beans, rice with veggies, rice pudding. If I can dream it up I'll make it happen with some rice. My grandmother used to say "if you have rice, you'll never go hungry." : )

in When do you hide? on Carrie and Danielle
Oh my it seems as if Carrie and I go through the same thing. When I am not in a mood for small talk I run. I will cross the street, leave the supermarket, not answer the phone. My other one is when I am completely broke. I just lay low.

in What’s your favorite gadget or piece of technology? on Carrie and Danielle
I am just old enough to remember a time when there was no such thing as Google or Yahoo, cell phones, MP3's or digital cameras so I fully appreciate how these have changed my life.

in What promise did you keep that changed your life? on Carrie and Danielle
I promised myself that I would leave an abusive relationship. After years of abuse it was no longer about the person who was hurting me, it was about me. What in the world was wrong with me that I would allow this.
One day I just did it. I left and never looked back. As soon as I freed myself from this relationship I found my soulmate and we've been happily married for 10 years.

in What’s your favorite eco-friendly habit? on Carrie and Danielle
Our family is working hard to establish good eco-friendly habits.
One of our biggest is plastic bags. We don't use them. We use eco-friendly bags to do our shopping. The plastic bags we had left or that people bring into our home get cut up and turned into strips so we can crochet them into an eco-friendly shopping bag. If you crochet and would like to do the same, here is a little instruction/information video I found on the net that helped me get started: http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2008/01/plast...

in The Opposite of Consumption: C&D Video Blog on Carrie and Danielle
So on point. I have cleared my closet of everything I've not worn in years. I found belts in there from 1990! I gave these items away to charity. My closet is bare but the items I have are classic and of great quality. I even found my vintage Gucci bag which I am now sporting. I've had young women stop and ask me where I got my bag since they've not seen that style. I just smile. They don't know I purchased this bag with the earnings from my very first job. Probably before they were even born.
I am also using a little trick I saw in a magazine. I believe it was Real Simple. I turn the hook of my hanger in the opposite way of all the others once I've worn that item. This way I know what's working for me or not. I've had it with waste and clutter. It's not good for the spirit.

in What do you need to let go of? on Carrie and Danielle
I need to let go of fear. My fear of disappointing others, or not being good enough. All my life I have second guessed myself. This is my greatest fault. It has stopped me from pursuing paths I should have taken a long time ago. I need to let go and know that it will be OK.

in What kind of clutter is in your life? on Carrie and Danielle
I most definitely have head clutter. While I've rid myself of physical clutter, I still struggle with my mind running in different directions. At work, I'm learning to delegate more. In my own personal life, I am learning to deal with thoughts generated by fear and anxiety by getting rid of them as soon as they appear. I'm a great fan of lists so I make one everyday and check off the things I need to accomplish.

in What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever given or received? on Carrie and Danielle
I've been happily married for 10 years. I've learned that you need to have a deep friendship with the person you've chosen to live your life with. Nietzsche said "It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages."

in What would improve your work space? on Carrie and Danielle
Great question. I am in the middle of a complete redesign of my studio space. The first thing I did was to paint one wall in an empowering color. I chose a golden yellow because according to Chinese culture it is the center of everything. Yellow also represents freedom from worldly cares. It was also important for me to choose yellow because it aids in clarity for decision making, sharper memory and concentration. It also protects one from lethargy and depression during the dark winter months.
These are all elements I need in my studio since my space has only one window and I am not a friend of cold dark winters. Two items I dream of owning for my space is the Eames lounge chair in brown leather with ottoman of course and the Lux table lamp designed by Alberto Meda and Paolo Rizzatto for Luceplan.

in How has astrology influenced your life or a decision? on Carrie and Danielle
I've never given Astrology too much thought until today. The Astrotwins described my sign so accurately that I will put them on my "life advisory board" to pick up on what Danielle said. As a Taurus they had me pegged right down to my favorite color: green.
I'm hooked.
I'm hooked.
