Friends of mine tried to do this exact thing here in Philly about 6 months ago but pulled the plug due to copyright concerns. Every loves to play loosey-goosey with IP rights, but this is pretty darn obviously a violation of those rights.

One of the things I find even more annoying than ads is that a vast majority of YouTube's back catalogue was uploaded in a 4:3 aspect ratio. 90% of the videos (now that the player is larger) have HUGE black cropped letterboxing and look even worse than before. It's going to take a long time until 'widescreen' content surpasses all that old sub-par stuff. In the meantime, we suffer. Or watch Vimeo instead.

I can think of at least one brand that did/does nearly all of these: the Barack Obama campaign.

I've been using MailChimp recently for Poptent, and I have to say I'm *VERY* happy with their service. It's worth every penny. They do a fantastic job and their interface is bar-none. This is only more icing on the cake, I'm very happy to hear about it. Thanks, Adam!

Wow, that's funny. "Slave labor" might be pushing it. We've paid over $100,000 to creators in the past year.

Look, we're really working hard to bridge the gap between companies that want video creative made for the web crowd and the creators who know how to make it. We're exploring many avenues to get there, but we certainly aren't forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to. We've had a ton of positive feedback from our creators thus far. Poptent is a way for us to build out even more features and tools for them to use in their own way, and not just for our assignments.
