Perhaps one cannot make too much of it, but I find it of some interest that after Wednesday Evening "Special Comment" by Keith where he definitely enjoyed a spoke in the demo audience he was not able to keep that audience on the same level. Further, it appears that the next night O'Reilly saw a considerable increase in total views while Keith's total audience declined considerably. Reason may say that we cannot conclude a cause and effect related to Keith's ranting. I don't mind Keith giving reasoned opinions so much as his "over the top" delivery. He comes across as a lunatic rather than a serious commentator. O'Reilly is also opinionated, but he comes across more reasoned plus he does at least allow differing opinions.

Sticking purely to the ratings issue and avoiding your personal politics, it's most likely due to the advertisement that there would be a special comment that night, and people tune in to see what Olbermann has to say. Since there was no special comment the next day, Olbermann's ratings went back to normal. He tends to always get a ratings bump when he does a special comment, as most programming does when they air a "special."

I notice that O'Reilly gets nearly 2 million more views total when adding both O'Reilly's and Olbermann's first viewings and repeat viewings later in the evening. In fact, "O'Reilly get nearly as many views in the 11:00 repeat cast as Olbermann does in the prime time original cast of "Countdown". So why does Olbermann consistently alienate potential crossovers when he infers that anyone who watches O'Reilly must be deranged. Why the constant insults and free promotions? I wonder how many loyalists of MSNBC switch over to see who this O'Reilly is that gets so much of Olbermann's attention?

If only all those 60, 70 and 80 year olds mattered. Sadly, they don't. Focus on the 25-54...

My guess is that there would be little crossover anyway. There are few folks that would like both, and effectively none that would bother to record one to watch the other or watch the early airing of one to watch the later of the other.

They even have Democratic opperatives saying that Fox has been more "fair and balanced" in their coverage. A person would have to be deaf and blind not so see how MSNBC is so in the tank for Oboma - Especially that Keith Olbermann clown who purports to be a reporter when he is so obviously a rabid advocate
