And Obama got sworn in 1 week later. Right around that time European equities crashed hard.

Can someone can help me understand this better, but is the thought behind this bill to spend ourselves out of debt?
Spend tons of money at a fast enough rate, that the world starts spinning backwards like Superman II and time reverses to the mid-90s where things were looking promising.

you are an IDIOT. Apple does not just make high-tech devices. It makes electronic fashion jewelry. In order to sell those, you need some one who can generate hype and has the charisma of SJ. stop smoking whatever you are or at least gimme some!

C+M info is true. They got rid of 6, including a Creative Director. They sold their B2B business as well. Things are looking rough. No ECD, no head of planning, no head of media, no head of interactive...their leadership looks like moldy swiss cheese. You have the world's most powerful CFO doing the job of the ageless wonder Phil Johnson (COO). Their head of new business has no agency experience. Seriously, what the fuck. How is that a recipe for success. Who in their right mind would want to come to C+M and take over as ECD? There's too little action, too much talk, and far too much managing via consensus.
It's tragic. A year ago they were headed upward. Now it looks like they're done for.

in THE IT CROWD 3.1 – "From Hell" on Dan's Media Digest
I don't know if any of you actually work in IT but I find the show spot on. Sorry that I can't get more upset that its a ridiculous sitcom but it seems most sitcoms are just set up for obvious payoffs. When Rehnolm's son puts the revolver in his mouth and pulls the trigger like 5 times, I almost died. I swear that is how people must shoot themselves.

I have worked in IT. I don't see any similarities. They had that "have you tried turning it on and off again" line in S1, but that was about as close to accurate as I can remember IT Crowd being. There's nothing wrong with pay-off and set-up -- but watch One Foot In The Grave to see it done cleverly...
IT Crowd just has some random element introduced that signposts itself as "very important" and you spend the rest of the episode waiting for that to become relevant. Which is fine, I guess. But when its relevance is also disappointing and unfunny (the £20 note gag) it just irritates me.

Oh yes - that famous blend of Jap and Brit humour.
If you mean that British humour is sureal and Japanese humour seems to involve lots of pain then you are spot on. This ad has launched a new genre of comedy - BritJap...no..JapBrit...hmm..Jit..almost there...YES - it is completely JIT just like vista.

I had a dog once. It was a purebred, male Akita. I then realized that if I could get my friend's purebred female Akita to copulate with mine, we could sell the pups for like $200 each. Mind you, this was back in the early 70's when $200 went a lot further than it does now. Anyway, to make a long story short, we began making so much money that we formed a company, Longhorn Akitas Inc., and outsourced the operations to South Korea. Unfortunately, this would prove to be our ultimate demise, as our Korean employees would take the Akita pups home for dinner on an almost daily basis! So we sold the company off to an unsuspecting kid in the same highschool class as myself; this kid would later grow up to be one of my greatest rivals throughout the 80's and 90's--that's right, Steve Jobs.
The money we got from the sale of the company all went into the purchase of booze and hookers for our first year at Harvard.

It's almost common knowledge that intelligent people tend to fare far worse than the average or less than average Joe Sixpack. Intelligent people tend to analyze situations and look for flaws; as such, they will avoid situations that will give rise to undesired results. The Joes of the world are too stupid to recognize the possibility of error, and simply act on their desires.
Now, I'm not trying to tell you to become a retard by any measure. You merely need to do what Mr. Sixpack does, and that's to "let go". You seem to have been humbled by your past experiences. You know the extent of how bad a given situation can get, but unless you give things a try, you'll never know how they'll turn out. So next time such a situation approaches, let go--if things go wrong, it won't be the end of the world. And who knows, things just might go right for once.
