Uso Kubuntu, en lo personal creo que otra vez ha sido un poco dejado de lado con respecto a la versión principal de Canonical. Dejan el KDE prácticamente tal cual viene de fábrica. Ni el wallpaper cambian. Ni siquiera arreglaron el papercut que decía que al menos cambien el ícono del menú de KDE por el de Kubuntu[1]. Cero personalización. Por suerte igual KDE4 brilla con luz propia.

Las tipografías elegidas no se ven muy agradables en mi monitor CRT tuve que cambiar todo, en la notebook tuve que tocarlas un poquito para que se vieran mejor, pero definitivamente vienen pensadas para monitores LCD. Media pila con esto chicos!

El bootsplash deja muchísimo que desear, es igual al anterior, por lo que se hace casi imperceptible que está basado en el nuevo y potente Xsplash, al cual hasta Xubuntu le ha sacado provecho[2].

Lo que me impresionó fue el nuevo diseño del instalador. Precioso.

Para terminar debo reconocer que Ubuntu en general me gusta mucho y KDE4 mucho más, así que sigue siendo mi distribución preferida a pesar de estos puntos que nombré.

You fail the truth test by quoting Wikipedia, dude! As for your "references" -- none of them had a direct quote FROM A SINGLE PERSON. In other words, they're worthless blog posts -- it's like someone quoting the numbers you pulled from your butt as evidence of something. You can't ignore the well-researched article with actual resellers saying actual things -- but I admire you for staying in your own little reality-denial sphere, refusing to believe reality and instead patching together an alternative universe of blog posts and incorrect assertions. And this is why you are a luser. It DOES matter to the vendor. It matters a lot. There is a reason why firms specialize in different channels, why IBM goes after the enterprise and why Best Buy's Geek Squad goes after home and small-business users, why some firms work with nonprofits and some work with governments and deal with the often arcane purchasing criteria. On a practical level, the purchasing criteria for a government or school are fixed and it's up to you to meet their standards; I note you didn't answer my question about whether you really think a city manager or a school district walks into a Best Buy, credit card in hand, to make large purchases. (Of course they don't; admit it.) If you cannot, truly not understand why not every customer is the same, it explains why Linux and its advocates are doomed for failure: different customers have different needs and have different methods of procurement. (It also explains why lusers insist Linux is a great desktop OS because it works so well in the supercomputer field. THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE.) But keep on insisting that every customer is exactly the same; repeating it over and over won't make it so.

You can insult me all you want; it's really amateur hour with you involved. I suspect you know deep down you screwed up and can't acknowledge it. But that's OK; it's that stubbornness and total lack of common sense that keeps Linux afloat.

No estoy tan seguro. Los requerimientos de windows son mucho mayores a los de un Linux base + WINE lo que limitaría mucho más la cantidad de PC que se pueden simular.

Buen punto, pero el requerimiento mínimo son 512MB [1], por mucho que se personalice nunca puede superar a un Linux bastante pelado + WINE que bien podría requerir tan sólo 32MB de RAM.

Para los que no lo sepan Mac tiene la misma filosofía respecto al tema de los iconos en los menús...

Las cosas no son excluyentes. El tema de los bugs va por un lado y el equipo de diseño va por otro. La gente de diseño sabe diseñar, no arreglar bugs. Lo de ubiquity nos puede parecer una estupidez a los que ya usamos Linux pero uno de los grandes problemas de nuevos usuarios es que no conocen las características del sistema, ni con qué programa se hace tal cosa.

El beneficio es poder estudiar el código para entender cómo funciona y como fue implementado. Esto es de gran valor didáctico para hackers y profesionales de seguridad informática, además que de ello surgirán mejores métodos para detectarlo.

No esperes nada de Skype, ellos saben muy bien qué gobiernos están espiando las conversaciones y no hacen nada al respecto, como el caso de China.

but I will say, this app is very temperamental, and I'm sure its to do with your router setup more than anything or any other wireless settings you may have previously installed on your machine.

El problema no es Mono en sí, ni programar en C#, sino que Microsoft tiene patentes sobre muchas partes y ya aclaró muy bien que ningún usuario de Linux está cubierto contra una demanada por las patentes, excepto Novell por aquel polémico acuerdo.

El kernel linux está funcionando más que bien, que este "inflado" no se refiere a que sea inestable, inseguro ni pesadísimo, o que una distro vaya a ser lenta, sólo que el rendimiento cayó un poco las últimas versiones. Eso es todo. Aún si Hurd estuviera en una etapa estable y funcional, le llevaría años alcanzar el nivel de funcionalidad que posee linux al día de hoy. Y ni hablar de los drivers.

Porque tus necesidades no son las mismas que las de otros profesionales o estudiantes universitarios. Hay mucho software comercial que no tiene un reemplazo directo en GNU/Linux ni corre bien en wine.

De todas maneras yo no creo que esta premisa de IBM sea cierta, al menos en el largo plazo. ¿Quién sabe lo que va a pasar en 10, 20, 100 o 1000 años con la informática?

Deberías. No soy un talibán, pero trato de mantener mi instalación de mandriva o la distro que sea con el mínimo indispensable de soft privativo.

No es una crítica, pero simplemente Powerpack no sería mi primer opción. Felicitaciones a Mandriva, como siempre.

Duchene is on pace for 11 goals. And that's only if he scores one against the Wings. Each game he fails to net one, that estimation goes down. If any other rookie the Avs had called up had gone goalless for that long, they'd have been either in the press box long ago, or sent down. The only reason Duchene is still on the roster is because the Avalanche are afraid to send him down. They are afraid of the extreme fan backlash they would endure. There would be a very empty Pepsi Center.
Problem is, that eventually Anderson isn't going to be making the saves. The grinders aren't going to be chipping in goals. The losses are going to mount up. Eventually, the wheels are going to come off the bandwagon. Likely, the beginning of the end starts in Detroit. Can this Avs team beat the Wings at the Joe? Yes, but it's not very likely. It's also very likely that Duchene comes back from this road trip with even more pressure on him to score in front of the home crowd. Thus, he grips the stick even tighter. His confidence gets blown apart.
The Avs are doing this wrong. Because of the pressure to sell tickets, they are very likely damaging the beginning of Duchene's career. They already ruined Chris Stewart by bringing him up too fast. You'll notice that Marek Svatos has completed his turn as an NHL failure. Players like Duchene need seasoning. Another year in the junior league was the right move. The Avs chose to try the desperate approach, and it will fail miserably.
