I just joined their affiliate program and was about to start making a few posts on my blog. I think I'll find a new merchant because them sending traffic away to another site where the cookie doesn't follow is just plain dirty.

Re: Is Social Media Marketing Sustainable?

Good blog post Brett. Is it sustainable? Only as sustainable as any other buzz-generating medium is. Television and the Internet might merge. Print might go out of fashion all-together. Sites like Digg may lose favor among internet users. Who knows... I'm no futurist, but if I had to make a bet I'd say there will always be work out there for a smart marketer with writing skills and experience creating buzz.

Re: Fridays Are For Feed Subscribers

Steve,

I know you're not a proponent of nofollow tags, but I often advise people to use them on the Feedburner feeds since they are basically a duplication of the feed I get when clicking on the feed icon in the URL bar (firefox) but on someone else's domain. Feeburner is great, and people should use it for many reasons, but adding a nofollow tag to that subscribe link might help out a bit.

Sorry to intrude, but I noticed you had a post up about feeds and thought I'd put in my two cents.

Re: Wikipedia NoFollow Plugin? I have indeed seen yahoo display nofollow links using their site explorer, but I am not entriely convinced that these links count toward link popularity. I would like to get your input on this if you know of any test that were done.

By the way, Yahoo claims to support the tag, but I'm sure you've already seen this:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/basics/ba...

Cheers,

Everett

Re: Wikipedia NoFollow Plugin? Me and the wife went last night (no, we don't have kids) and for once I didn't feel that the animators were insulting our intelligence. It was a truly great piece of entertainment.

I was a little disappointed with the female Chef though. Her accent was supposed to be French, but sounded like a 1/3 Latino, 1/3 African America, and 1/3 rich white chick. Why couldn't they just hire a 'real' French person to do the voice instead of Janeane Garofalo ?

Re: Movie Notes: Diamond Head

I lived on Oahu for about three years before settling down in Chile. I can see how it was once a great place, and it is still 'special' in many ways to this day. But between the concrete jungles, congested highways, bloated real estate prices, methamphetimine abuse, and annoying tourists - I don't think I could ever live there again.

South America is like Hawaii but instead of paying 2-million for a three-bedroom bungalo near Pearl City, you can get a giant beach mansion for under $500 k.

With that said, there will always be things about Hawaii that I miss (the uniquely 'Hawaiian' culture and pigeon dialect, my friends, when the Pali highway opens up to the valley and sea...) so it will always have a special place in my heart.

Long story short, I'm going to go rent this movie. Maybe it will bring back some memories.

:)

Re: My Ego Is Satisfied

Congratulations!

I'll give you a hand and add you on Technorati now as well, although I subscribe via bloglines...

Re: Fighting My Worst Addiction: Smoking

I tried quiting for ten years before finally succeeding after reading a book called "How to Quit Smoking The Easy Way". I stopped watching fox about five years ago. It's been a complete farce for a long time now. But I don't like Kieth Olberman any better. These "news" programs are splitting my country apart and turning into an us-verse-them battle. It's not about Republicans or Democrats. It's about people with all shades of gray to their beliefs.

Re: Tool Time Friday | Are you ready to Sprout?

Sweet! If so, perhaps your friend has an adware virus that changes the page. I have had this happen to me before. It might be somethnig you can look into if nobody else seems to be able to replicate it on a different computer. Companies selling LOHAS Related Products offer an alternative to these middle-class, Americans who would otherwise shop at Wal-Mart or Target.

Do you honestly think environmentalism is going to spread across the world before it gets too late without the help of capitalism? A middle-class American soccer mom isn't going to be persuaded to sell her SUV and install solar panels on her condo roof by some Grateful Dead T-shirt wearing college student. But if all of her friends "at yoga" are doing it, then it suddenly becomes something she wants to do as well.

And what's wrong with that? That's GREAT! That's what environmentalists have been working on all these years!

But people like you don't really want to save the planet. No, you just want to be an elitist hypocrite.

Re: Inc.com's "Green 50" Companies List

I am surprised by the exclusion of Gaiam from this list.
