in Mowser Ad Changes - Mowser Blog on Mowser.com Forum
Russ, read the news about the site on various blogs. Sorry to see it go. Maybe someone in Japan will see the logic behind the site and still offer you a nice buyout. Good luck in the future.

in Blog Marketing Tips #2: Increasing Traffic with Killer Slugs on Marketing Pilgrim
Thanks for the tips. I didn't know about the three number requirements from Google and the 301 plug-in. Sometimes I forget to change the slug to replace what the title field produces and I realize after the fatc that was a big oversight.
Great article.

in Facebook to Settle with ConnectU on Marketing Pilgrim
No one wants a suit hanging over their heads during an IPO. The settlement might hurt in the short term (pride mostly-they have the cash) but in the long run something like this might have really cost them (remember RIM and their lawsuit problems-dragged for years-and they still paid).

I wonder why the deal was not done. If I was Jayant and Rajat I'd be worried that the site would get shutdown once the lawyers really start billing the hours.

in Attention Website Owners: If You Aren’t on Google’s First Page, You’re Dead to Us on Marketing Pilgrim
Unfortunately its true and I find that I do the same thing in most situations. Being on page three or worse page 10 means almost nothing for search traffic.

in How is the Web screwed up? on Scobleizer
Search is screwed up. The big G is making a big deal about certain issues but for some reason MFA sites still keep ranking in organic search terms. Fix that please.
One more thing - free Wifi for everyone.

in Vendors going to CES? You’ve been warned on Scobleizer
If you don't think vendors play pranks on each other you must not have been locked up in some stale air, bad lighting, three day convention vendor hell. Its not just the visitors.

Terrible news. I donation can be made to the family from the linked page. Any amount would likely help.

in Googling Beyond the Grave on Marketing Pilgrim
This guy knew when the photo was being taken that it would likely appear on a website (for the place they were renting). I guess he didn't Google anyone in his life time.

Myspace looks so old school when you compare it to the others on your list.

Anything that starts digging for more info and could be privacy related is going to become a bigger issue. Unfortunately younger users don't realize they are providing to much info in some situations.

in Hi5 CTO talks about Open Social, among other things on Scobleizer
Saying your number one is some markets is fine. Hey its your 24 minutes with Rob. He did explain why they were number one in other markets (translation, open to foreign traffic at the start).

One thing is that I had a hard time hearing some of Rob's questions but no problem hearing Akash response.

More bandwidth for the users makes these kinds of projects possible. If someone can finally deliver decent quality they should have some success.

And the VC folks apparently pumped in about $40 million over the fast few years. So that was one good deal for them.

Sounds like someone is trying to cover his bets (sorry investment). But he's right its better to be a small part of something that is big rather than something that disappears in five years time.

Yes facebook is still in the drivers seat but they have to make the right call now to stay there. The pressure is on and to use some sports talk-its game on!

Let me turn off the corp/PR flak talk for you. What they both said is "we're worried about getting smoked by Facebook so we joined forces to toast them". They think thats significant.

in Wordcamp, Lorelle, And Conversational Blogging on Blonde 2.0 Blog
Thanks for the review of the talk. Plenty of folks wouldn't have the chance to see Lorelle and she does know her stuff. To combine two things if you can not blog often I think a regular schedule works great. I check out several sites for the regular link reviews because they usually pull good info from the web.
