in Gas in the U.S. is Cheap on WealthBoy
Hi WealthBoy,

I agree gas is relatively cheaper than the countries you mention, but that doesn't help the average American when it comes to their budget. It is probably easier for most of us to compare what we were paying for gas per gallon from last year to this year. I live in California and most people I know commute great distances to get to work and most put more than double the miles you mentioned in your example above.

Even with household income increasing to $5,792, you must also take into consideration that is a gross figure and doesn't include federal and state government taxes that are automatically withheld by most employers. This is usually 25-35% of that amount depending on how much you make.

I think what makes most Americans complain is that gas has tripled in the last 6 years or so, but Exxon and other American oil companies have made the most Net Profit in history. We just know that oil companies are gouging us at the pumps, for the sake of their own pocket. I don't know how much gas they sold in those record profit quarters, but if I did I would take that amount and divide it by the profit they made, so we could see how much of a markup they put on it. If Exxon sold 40 billion gallons of oil last quarter and made a $40 billion dollar profit, then that would mean they made a dollar profit per gallon.

Great post Wealthboy.

Cheers!

Hi Matt,
Sorry to see that sign still up there. That really is poor customer service on their part. If it is not down by Monday, I would actually file complaint letters to BBB, Consumer Affairs, City of Seattle, and whatever is easy to do online. Then I would forward the email to the sales and building people to show that you are irritated enough that you will take action to make more work for them. They will not want any more potential problems or public records of complaints for a problem they can easily fix.
I hope they do take it down tomorrow. Come Monday, there should no more Mr. Nice Guy. Good luck.
Cheers!

in Question for readers: Developer signage on Urbnlivn
I have a feeling they will not be taking that sign down as agreed. I would have pay a professional to get it taken down the day after and bill them. You are being too generous to people who have broke their word and now taking advantage of your kindness.

It is creative and maybe the buyer can use it as leverage to forgo the car and reduce the purchase price. Definitely an attention getter.

in No housing woes here! on Urbnlivn
Hey Matt,

Personally, I don't think any city is going to be insulated against the housing pricing drops. I have been watching certain condos that I particularly like through redfin email alerts. I do see drops every week and I have been wanting to buy a condo in Seattle for awhile, but am holding off until I see the prices become more stable.

Is either country's credit reporting or scoring better than the other in your opinion?

in Condo hotels a bad idea? on Urbnlivn
It would be cool if you could get a follow up on this story to see how the owner actually did. It is possible that the property went up higher or that his room was rented out over 90%. Although $270 a night seems extremely high. Just a thought.

I like the modern look. Not too sure about the tub. It is out of my reach, but I love to look. Maybe there is a loft at the end of that ladder. lol. ;)

in Full size grocery store coming downtown on Urbnlivn
Hi :) ,
Just curious, do any of these markets deliver groceries. I'm in California and we have 2 grocery stores that deliver. What can I say, for the price it is cheap and convenient.

I love the Avengers. The Vision was my favorite character when I was young because he could go through walls. Thor was awesome with his Mjolnir. I hear rumors that they are making a movie on him with that wrestler triple H possibly starring in it. Anyways, I put some of my comics on my site. Totally nerdish I know, but other nerds appreciate that stuff.

in WSJ on condo projects going bankrupt on Urbnlivn
This seems to be happening here in California. Lenders are under a microscope because housing is such big news. These lenders may be going overboard after the fact to compensate for their previous loose policies.

in Selling a pre-sale unit on Urbnlivn
I had a relative actually put an earnest money deposit on a Las Vegas high-rise condo 2 years ago before the values started to sink. The builder didn't have enough buyers or interest to firm up their own construction financing, so the project was cancelled and they refunded her all the money. I know it is a long shot, but in today's market that could change overnight, even in Seattle. Good luck.
