Dunno if it's my BEST post of 2008 but this one got the most hits:
http://acurrie.wordpress.com/2008/01/17/egypt-a...
It's a report on my first-ever vacation with GPS -- apparently it's illegal in Egypt which I didn't realize until after I got back!

Flock is a fine idea and all but as soon as I start it up I'm instantly reminded that the web is riddled with ads! I'll be sticking with Firefox/Adblock Plus, thanks...

Adblock Plus is compatible with Flock, I've checked.

Flock can use Adblock WTF r u talking about
Flock is really a copy of the FF it can use any extensions, toolbars and etc afterall it based off the same damn browser system.
With the new upgrade for FF3 it will come 2 Flock 2.0. To simply put it when FF3 upgrades so will Flock. O.o

in Rumor: No Nokia N93/N93i Successor Up To 2010 on The Nokia Blog
The N93/N93i reminds me of the old swivel-barrel CoolPix series from Nikon -- both are great for self-portraits, and I can't imagine in this day of Facebook and MySpace that a slimmer version wouldn't do well...

the Nokia N93/N93i can't let you take a self-portrait with the screen (viewfinder) facing you, and I am disappointed with this. front camera sucks, so it's not really useful. if only N93 and N93i were made with a mechanism like that of N90 where you can take photo of yourself without having to worry how you looked like. :(
I own Nokia N93i and had to deal with this problem. I am a narcissist, that's why

Great post! Even if Opera Mini DIDN'T squeeze the bloat out of full-sized web pages -- I'm on a stingy 12MB/month data plan in Canada and have yet to go over my allotted bandwidth -- I would STILL use it for its other killer feature: the ability to synchronize my mobile bookmarks to my desktop computer.
My own review of Opera Mini can be read here, if anyone's interested:

Operators need to realize that Mobile TV isn't something that subscribers are willing to pay for -- even in Japan the service is free:

Thank-you SOOO much for this... I've moved my blog to WP.com and didn't know what to do with my domain (which I need for email) until now.
The only thing I did differently was substitute MyBlogLog for FriendFeed -- here's the result:
www.andrewcurrie.ca
Brilliant!

in New iPhone pricing proves consumers are idiots on Gravitational Pull
It's especially troubling that the biggest benefit of GSM technology is the ability to use your SIM chip in any unlocked handset. Signing up with an iPhone-only multi-year contract pretty much negates that...

If a browser could guarantee the removal of all ads, pop-ups, etc. without any kind of performance hit, I'd gladly pay for it!

I think you're missing the point. I don't care about any of those - I did a comparison based on what matters to me.

It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against Opera Mini, which already has many (if not more) of the same features:

in I gave up on E61i on I'm Knight
With regards to sending an SMS using S60, there's a much easier way to do it which I discovered by accident:
Instead of finding the contact FIRST just type their name (even a partial name) into the address field; when you hit 'send' your Nokia will search its address book for the matching number, which you can then confirm.
It's still multiple steps, but not so many at least...
