in A Trend Day that Teetered in the Balance and other Signals on Afraid to Trade Blog
I replied to your earlier message on the prior post...I don't know what's gotten into me lately, but I've been commenting more on the sites I follow. Couple things:
1) Have you ever posted a picture of your trading station? I (among others) am fascinated to see people's work space since I'm in the process of upgrading my computer + monitors.
2) You have great annotation on your charts from stockcharts, but do you only use them for the blog. I think I read somewhere you use tradestation. Would also be interested to see a screenshot one day of how you are setup for intraday trading.
3) Have you ever considered Disqus for your comment section? I think it gives people a chance to develop more of a personality and has certainly increased dialogue at other sites.

in Announcing Completion of CMT Level III Exam on Afraid to Trade Blog
I will certainly keep that in mind in the future as I have not ruled out the CMT, I've just got some other stuff in the hopper and I'm still building my core trading skill set on a "part-time" basis even though I treat trading as a second job, often putting more time and effort in than my real job.
I guess a large driver in considering the CMT besides the personal accomplishment is the ability to "legitimize" my TA and trading skills. Having others acknowledge my trading as anything more than a hobby proves difficult, i.e. legitimzing my second part time job on my resume/applications for B school down the road. I've considering forming an LLC but I cant really justify the costs. Perhaps a blog/website would be a good outlet.
Either way, I do want to say thanks for the efforts you've put in here, it has been very helpful in my development, particularly your clear analysis of fibs and EWT. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations!
I have thought about pursuing the CMT for sometime but I am not employed in the industry and would not know how to go about getting sponsorship considering I do not do the "work" necessary for others to recognize. Besides starting a website like yourself, do you have any other ideas on how to gain recognition for TA skills, etc?

in CMT Level 3 Exam Today and MTA Sponsorship Request on Afraid to Trade Blog
Corey,
Good luck to you! I'm a daily reader as well and I wish you only the best. Perhaps one day I will be taking you up on your sponsorship offer. I have considered going out for the CMT designation even though I do not work in the field of TA simply as a personal accomplishment. Is it a requirement to work in some capacity as a technician prior to sponsorship?

I'm trying to get my chart's MA to align with yours. Are you looking at a 10-day, 5-min? It seems like no matter what i get some suttle differences. Thanks

so the question i have to ask is what is your defined risk tolerance? I opened w/ a $5000 account and traditional money management and options don't work. There simply isn't a way you can only risk 1R or 2R ($50/$100) on them b/c they are simply too leveraged. When you are talking about what you are risking, do you mean you are putting up $300 to buy into a few contracts and willing to risk it all or are you setting a defined stop, trailing stop, etc??

Jorge,
Let me preempt this by saying I was considering emailing you just a few weeks ago about getting some dialogue going in terms of looking for a trading partner when I saw your post on OA. I have been on the same ride as you trading roughly the same account size and strategy with about as much experience.
I am glad to see you are finally making some money, but I'm not sure it is clear what you have changed with your strategy. You say it is all about risk and money management. If I recall just a week or so ago you were having some of your worst days. I feel like the recent posts have just been an expression of the opposite side of pendulum. I don't mean this to be offensive simply because I have definitely had my own share of ups and downs, so I guess I am just more curious to know what it is that 'clicked.' It seems like not too long ago you were trading 1 or 2 contracts but you have changed that? How are you managing your risk? Perhaps you'd like to elaborate or dialogue some more. Let me know.

Nice. I actually thought the rule applied to everything, not sure how I've missed that, but great to know as I'm a newb as well.
