Easy for me to say as a founder of a small services firm, but we started with $25k. (Also, I think you're looking for _profligacy_ as your anti-frugality phrase at the top.)

Re: Make It: Perfect Scrambled Eggs

Personally I'm a fan of the Cook's Illustrated method: one minute of high heat + smaller, buttery skillet + constant scraping... *then* low heat + folding until done. Pillowy curds, man. Pillowy curds.

Re: Friday Linky Love

Thanks for the link-love!

CPJ

Re: Klout: The Evolution of Social Media Influence

Lately I've been, for whatever reason, enjoying logging into Klout and seeing how it tracks my activity. I liken it to the advanced metrics used by sports nerds to assess players and teams; all of the advanced metrics are interesting, but none of them tells a complete story all by itself.

Not perfect, but interesting. That's all.

Re: The lolcat’s out of the bag: we’re moving to Boston!

Beads?

Re: World Progress Report Infoviz

Josh -

Glad you like the project, homie! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Can answer them here or over email. Hope you're enjoying Svpply, too.

Two points of clarification: I can't sew for shit. My mom does all the sewing. And (I believe) we like to spell Undercurrent with only the initial cap.

Re: Mike Arauz - I’m working on my Fall fashion mood board....

You have a fall fashion mood board?

Re: Designing products that can still work if they’re broken

I hear you on that.

The other really nice thing that Apple does with its products–-the iPhone in particular--is that they've designed in a little indicator light that will tip off potential repair-ers to the fact that the phone needs to be replaced, not fixed. I dunked mine in some water a while back, and though it still works, I like the subtle "screw you" that the light offers whenever I turn the phone on.

Re: Link Drop (7·31·09)

Thanks for the link, fella!

Re: hee/hee HAW - College virginity rates by study major

This makes my college experience a little more understandable. Specifically, while I might be using web-based project management tools at work, they're simply not practical for me to use long-term for personal management. Paper--specifically, in book format, that you can carry around with you wherever you go--is a more permanent reminder of things to do, a more permanent record of things you've thought, written or sketched.

And specifically for things that are written, lots of people I know were taught to "just keep writing" and get thoughts out "on paper" before heading back to edit. And my pops always told me to get things on paper in long-hand first, before heading to a word processor.

Perhaps there's something to typewriters after all.
