As one of the newer OPA studies reveals "people in 2009 on average spent 42% of their time online on content sites compared to 34% in 2003" and between content and community sites users are currently spending a total of 55% of their online time. Staggering stats which prove that content is still king. So, any advertiser that makes a tool like this available wants to make sure they're doing everything possible not only to (a) educate/warn/advice, and but also to (b) keep those affiliates compliant (not to be accused of lousy monitoring/enforcing).

I had a Twitter conversation with LinkShare on the same topic -- http://www.amnavigator.com/blog/2009/10/27/link...

Re: Amazon Affiliate Links On Twitter: To Tweet Or Not To Tweet

So that "Share on Twitter" button creates a short URL and allows you to tweet it? This is just another step towards a more transparent online shopping environment, and, as a consumer, I fully support this. It won't hurt the affiliates that have nothing to hide (that are running honest businesses, not ones based fake, made up reviews).

BTW, that $11000 fine is not true - http://www.amnavigator.com/blog/2009/10/07/ftc-...

Re: Adobe to Acquire Omniture for $1.8 Billion

Interesting development indeed.

Somewhat strange that a company traditionally known as a giant in a different sphere is acquiring an analytics-related company. Frankly, I am surprised, but the "business decision" does not seem to be connected with the "system... costing Walmart money" (I don't see them mentioning this in the above-quoted text). I do wonder what the reasons for this decision are. Perhaps, something brand-related?

Re: Creek Fly Fishing in a Kayak

Ok. As for the data being "a bit hard to grasp" - that's why we called "advanced approaches". ;)

The basic idea behind the contingency approach (or situational theory) is that while particular leadership styles and behaviors may be in effective in some settings and situations, they might be absolutely ineffective in others. In my presentation I've split affiliates not by type, but rather by their maturity level.

There are 4 groups: Newbies, lower- and higher- moderate maturity levels (equipped, but either inexperienced in affiliate marketing, or unwilling to work with the merchant), and super affiliates. With newbies you practice a telling style, with the two moderately mature affiliate types - selling and participating styles, and with super affiliates - a delegating style.

Shawn said the videos will be available in 3-4 weeks; and it'll be much easier to follow it on video.

Re: My focus group of one

Yep.
