I really like MDWiki except I'm constrained to where I host this HTML file and where my .MD content sits. They are both on the same top level domain but under different subdomains. (Corporate environment, TFS holds our .md content, and the MDWiki is elsewhere, long story as most corporate environments tend to be...)

Great project, though! Was looking for something lean like this that isn't overkill like most other wiki/markdown solutions are! Keep up the great work!

Re: Gimmicks

Can MDWiki reference a .md file on a different host?

Re: 0.39: Configuration panel, state restoration and improved docs

Wink is NOT broken for me in 0.39. I found a fix. Uninstall all versions (free and/or pay). Reinstall the app. DO NOT START THE APP. Turn your phone off (not just sleep, hold down power, slide the red slider) Turn it back on. Now launch the app, and put your E-Mail address back in. Worked for me.

Re: The Long Journey Home

Great story!

Re: Installation of OS X 10.5.6 on a PC

I'm back in town, let me know if you still need them.

Re: Installation of OS X 10.5.6 on a PC

Intel 85662

Re: Installation of OS X 10.5.6 on a PC

I ended up not using a Boot 132 ISO and downloaded the iPC 10.5.6 distro to get me started. Why use a slide rule when you can get a free calculator? Why lick a stamp and mail a letter when you can send it instantly?

Re: Multiply the spread of your ideas with free syndication tools

I'll continue down the line of thought as Devil's Advocate, if anything, to help you be prepared for the retorts you would get from those who are in charge:

1) What do RSS feeds give you that mailing groups do not?
2) Why do I have to collaborate on the web and then put it all in Powerpoint? Why can't I just use what I've been using?
3) I don't want anybody changing anything I'm working on.

Reason 3 is probably the most frustrating of them all. People need to get over the idea that "I'm" working on something and shift gears and understand that "we" are working on something.

Re: Multiply the spread of your ideas with free syndication tools

Not to poop on your idea, which is a great one, but some tools still remain tethered to the local runtime environment. An example is your suggestion of Google Docs. Good for organizing a weekend BBQ, bad for a design document or resume. I am still a proponent of rallying workplace collaboration past using E-Mail and attachments, however sometimes you have to ease the 40 and 50-somethings into the idea. Cloud computing and collaboration is still years from gaining corporate adoption and momentum, even though it works in peripheral cases such as group organization and social networking. It's a clash of the 20 and 30-somethings vs the aforementioned 40 and 50-somethings, coupled with non-agile workplaces (ours).

Re: Linksys NAS200 Network Storage System

I agree. I consider myself to be a forgiving and optimistic person when it comes to software, whether it be open-source or something I paid money for. However, after two years of this sort of behavior from my OS, I made the decision to revert back to what worked. I'm no /. zealot, but in my case it just made better sense. If MS ever addresses these issues, whether it be Windows 7, or what I consider the more responsible alternative, to fix it with their current release, I will gladly return to a later OS.

Re: Linksys NAS200 Network Storage System

What's interesting is all my hardware was purchased either after or the same time as the Vista release. Simple stuff like an Intel board and processor, some SATA drives, and a GeForce 8800. Nothing legacy or uncommon, so I don't know if drivers had anything to do with my situation or not.

Re: SAP Netweaver 7.01 - Session 2.1 (Configuration)

Yeah, the stuff in this post is more just boring configuration and tweaking. I'll be posting how to get the transport management system up and running soon, as it's broken in the trial. I'll also be posting about how it goes with using their VMWare trial that hosts an ABAP+Java stack, it may be a better playground than a strictly ABAP system, albeit probably not as lean running.

Re: Streamline your team’s updates with microblogs

I still think that blog has a bad stigma to it in the workplace (at least ours). Our workplace culture has deep roots in archaic communication tools such as E-Mail and Lotus Notes Databases. I'm very surprised that we even have a company-wide instant messaging standard with the glacial pace at which we adopt technology. Also since the size of our company is so huge, it becomes a more daunting task to attempt to drive any sort of initiative since our current "tools" can do the job, albeit inefficiently.

Re: Linksys NAS200 Network Storage System

Mine was a fresh install, 32-bit. I have a friend who swears that it was because I was running 32-bit that I was having these terrible i/o times, and he says 64-bit smokes. I just don't feel like buying another license for 64-bit. Honestly, that's another gripe all in its own.

I think it's more OS mechanisms than it is instruction set, that was causing the problem. It took around half an hour to install SAP on XP 32bit where it took over 4 hours to do the same task on Vista. Something is wrong with that.

Re: Ten – wait, Eleven – reasons to switch to WordPress

While I have no recent basis for comparison from one blogging application to another, WP was pretty easy for me to set up. I do like that their are tons of themes and plugins available and the fact that's all written in PHP means I can write in my own terrible code as I see fit.

Re: Linksys NAS200 Network Storage System

@Daniel J. Pritchett
You might say that I have a little bit of buyer’s remorse when it comes to Vista. The day that it came out I bought Vista Ultimate 32 bit and ran it up until a few weeks ago. For 95% of the things I did, Vista was not a problem, but when I started getting back into more non-casual tasks and gaming, Vista would start dragging. It would take 2 hours to install a game, etc. Pretty much anything that did i/o on the disk would bring the system to a creep. The only thing I am losing by reverting back to XP Pro is DirectX 10, which I’ll just live without.
