The Capcanes is a personal favorite.

Re: Primer 2005 – Carbonic Maceration

Sorry I heard about this wine but never got a chance to try it. Hypotheticaly, anyone can argue that Cava can be made in their region. If the Consejo agrees they can be awarded DO status. In Jerez there is a concept of terroir that indicates that the soil(albariza) and the climate are unique to the DO.

Thanks for the history on Cava, I read that once before, I just wonder if they'll ever call a sparkler Cava as a default?

Re: Wine blogs We Like and a Few Others

Andrew - thanks for the comments, and we continue to do our best!

Tim - Glad you enjoy us. As to the Jamon, Iberico is made from Pata Negra Pigs. Serrano is altogether another type of ham, and considered by many if not all as highly inferior to the Iberico which is the pinnacle of the Jamon world. As far as getting it in the US, the one producer here who has officially been approved by the US government will start shipping in the next year. In reality to buy a whole ham it incredibly expensive no matter where you buy it. When the deli's and meat shops start to carry it you can buy it then like we do, a few slices at a time.

Thanks for checking out Catavino and I look forward to chatting with you more!

Ryan

Re: World Cup – Go Iberia?

Both england and ukraine have growing wine industries.
Check it out: Ukraine wine - http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
and English wine - http://www.english-wine.com/

Hard to believe but it's true!
