Case counts in NY are massively undercounted bc of lack of testing. Youyang Gu's infection estimate is almost certainly correct. Johns Hopkins estimates similarly. Only question is how many previously infected also got vaccinated - probably about 70%. So adding 10-15 to the 69% partially vaxxed adults -> is probably accurate. And it's a big reason case counts (more reliable now than March 2020) and positivity are so low.

Did you read the article? They didn't "find" these votes. There was a precinct where the votes were never entered into the central system.

Correct. But we have no idea if the absentees resemble the overall vote, the early votes (which were much stronger for O'Connor) or something else. I agree that Balderson will most likely win in the end.

Thanks. I figured this list was out there somewhere. Rather interesting that Licking County has so many absentee ballots. Dennison University is there, as is OSU-Newark. That might account for some of the absentees. Don't see any military bases there but surely some of the absentees are locals deployed overseas.

588 votes found. If they netted O'Connor 190, he got 389 of those votes and Balderson got 199. That's 66% for O'Connor and 33% for Balderson, which is close to what the Franklin County votes were as a whole. If, for the sake of argument, all of the 3,435 provisional ballots are accepted and come in at the same rate - 66% for O'Connor - then that would net O'Connor 1,134 votes. The provisionals are from across the district, not just Franklin, but they do skew Democratic overall. Anyway, that would leave Balderson with a 435 vote lead. That's before we get to absentee ballots, which are a complete mystery since the number reported is the number of ballots sent out, and not all of them were returned in time. But suppose, for the sake of argument, that all 5,048 absentee ballots were returned. In order for O'Connor to close that 435-vote gap he would need to win the 55% of the absentee ballots. The fewer absentee ballots actually returned, the higher the percentage necessary for O'Connor to win to close the gap. But 55% is a tough hill to climb if the absentees resemble the district as a whole. And that's not including recounts. Oh, and then we get to do this again in November...

As an actual working class person I know what I am talking about. Our family income is mid-50s and I have four children. I live in a state with no state income tax. My paycheck increased this year by a whopping $27 per month. Gas prices have already gone up enough to offset that. So, yes, it's crumbs.
