I dunno how I stumbled onto your Tumblr initially, but your selection of stuff made me smile so I RSS'ed it - not it has to be one of my favourite feeds! I always get a grin on my face when I see new stuff coming through from you.

I totally forgot that I had a Tumblr account set up! I was just sharing your stuff in Google Reader for Grannymar, my husband and a few others that follow my shared items, but I forgot that my Google Reader pushes across to my Tumblr - thanks for reminding me of that!

Back in the early days there were some issues with Spam on Twitter. We had a couple of users back in July last year that appeared to be constantly deleting and re-adding their 'friends' in an effort to get noticed. Even blocking the user didn't seem to work (think there was a bug issue with that at the time).

However, Twitter support were excellent and checked into the guys account and reacted by removing his 'friending' privileges. That's also one of the reasons that the level of any spamming and trolling has stayed low, the support desk has reacted quickly to complaints.

Why a new word? For years, if you weren't a friend, you were an acquaintance... Definition from dictionary.com:
1. Acquaintance, associate, companion, friend refer to a person with whom one is in contact. An acquaintance is someone recognized by sight or someone known, though not intimately: a casual acquaintance. An associate is a person who is often in one's company, usually because of some work, enterprise, or pursuit in common: a business associate. A companion is a person who shares one's activities, fate, or condition: a traveling companion; companion in despair. A friend is a person with whom one is on intimate terms and for whom one feels a warm affection: a trusted friend.

Call them. About the only 'government' thing that we can do online in this country is pay our car tax, anything outside of that be prepared to spend a morning on the phone to sort it out. Alternatively, take a morning and go down there and watch all the lovely people queuing...
