in Deep Faith Eliminates Fear on Learn To Duck
When I was in middle school I cheated on a math exam and ended up with an A. As a result, the following year I was placed in advanced math. While I don't encourage cheating, the situation taught me a valuable lesson... that I can do anything I set my mind to. I can't say I didn't struggle in that class but I survived with hard work and perseverence. Oh yeah... it also taught me not to cheat! :)

I love when you write "Read that again." It's powerful and effective. Thanks for the post Micah!

in Musicians Play for Tips- The Importance of Comments on Chris Brogan
Hi Chris,

I must be special, I made it into the 1%.

I find that I am more inclined to post comments on blogs where the blogger truly engages in conversations with their readers. I understand that some bloggers simply can't respond to everyone individually. With that said, I tend to prefer less popular blogs for that more personal attention. Compliments work both ways. Do what you can to thank your readers for participating, they will continue returning the favor.

in What Type of Blogger Am I? on Learn To Duck
Did you forget? You're THE douchebag blogger! ;)

I think labels are limiting. Some blogs succeed as niches, other blogs succeed because of the quality of the individual. I enjoy your blog because you are naked about how you think and what you feel. For me, its not always about the topic, it's about the revelations... the gems of life found within.

A while ago Nate Ritter (@nateritter) tweeted about how it is ironic that people can easily write about themselves but that when it comes to filling out social profiles we freeze. We are multi-faceted people. How can we possibly define who we are in 140 words or less?

I'm not really a blogger, I have a tumblelog... but when I write I like to write about things that move me. Sometimes it's about relationships, sometimes it's about work, sometimes it's about compassion... it just depends.

I suppose there's a balance between branding and labeling. Thanks for this post!

PS - Micah, I'm glad the medication is working. I've been curious.

in Why Are You A Douchebag? on Learn To Duck
So you aren't a "traditional" douchebag? I think I'm going to cry myself to sleep...

The most authentic people are the most interesting, surely you are respected for that reason. I also believe self deprecation nurtures empathy.

Kudos Micah, you have created a new brand douchebag... that's better than New Coke!

micah I have never been a "traditional" anything...

I like the idea that I have create a "new" douchebag, which would mean
by definition that I am the leader of a new band, a new world, a new
universe of douchebags!

I like it!

in If You Had to Listen to One Song 100 Times, What Would it Be? on Learn To Duck
Awesome Micah! Have your ears bled? It's funny that prior to Breakable I was listening to Goodnight and Go on repeat. Thanks for reminding me of Don't Fear The Reaper. That last minute addition was my favorite! I've been contemplating my Muxtape for a while... I like your creative approach.

Hi Micah,

Thanks for sharing such a personal experience. I'm interested to hear about your journey through this choice. Sometimes I think extreme emotions contribute to who we are in a positive way. I struggle with a similar choice myself. I wonder what I might be giving up. I'm not a therapist by any means... I just visit one. I fully support you, and am curious to observe the changes. Good luck!
