Chris, I agree with authenticity, I wholeheartedly agree with consistency. These days, I still quibble with the use of some language. Humorously, I explain it this way:

There once was a lad from Pawtucket
who now had to rhyme with suck it
but he did not dare
as he did not swear
so he found a way to duck it

Thanks for you being you!

in PodCamp in 2009: Thoughts for organizers on Christopher S. Penn's Awaken Your Superhero
Well done, Chris. Planning, planning, planning. Meetings to plan the event do not need to be overdone but the weekly "touch base" as the event approaches has worked well for PCB. We plan to succeed!

We also need to be mindful that as much as the event is based in and around technology, not everyone attending is equally enabled. There should be some manual or standby communications tools, whiteboards (or chalkboards like at MIT) can be multi-purpose. Enables communication updates on schedule changes or enables cross event participation, people finding, birds of a feather, etc.

in What Tom Could Learn from Facebook on Chris Brogan
Well said.

It will be nice to follow this and see how much Tom/CellSpin knows (if he has a vanity feed, this should be popping up) and how quickly he'll react (if at all). Either way will tell us more about the level of learning required to "get it".

in 4HWW Invades London Next Week: Pre-orders and Parties on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Tim, I am also just getting into your book: 4 Hour Work Week, based upon Terry Starbucker's review earlier this month on the Joyful Jubilant Learning blog..

Matt Hixson just reviewed Carl Honore's In Praise of Slowness today. Separately, I just finished reading Vince Poscente's "The Age of Speed".

Even though these sound like opposites, these books have much in common. Picking up on the dreamlining concept, wouldn't it be good to have a joint conversation with Honore, and Poscente!

Would you be interested?

A simple enough secret. Living to it will be the challenge but a worthy one.

Have a very successful and prosperous 2008!

A nice full list Chris! Some items are familiar, some are new to me. Some I really should explore more (like del.icio.us). Thanks for sharing!

in What's On Your Mind? on Chris Brogan
I am still wrestling with my write up of what PodCamp Boston was all about especially in regard to the free vs. charge discussion. I came away pumped and that with only attending 3 sessions. Yes, I could have done more but there was always business at the registration desk.

The new toys are cool, but it would be better if they really worked. Utterz, for example, prevents comments on posts and doesn't allow for permalinks, so it is not quite ready for prime time. But it will be slick when it fixes these.

I guess this is one of the key questions: when are you ready for prime time? or do you just go when you're good enough and figure it out as you go?

in My Social Media Toolkit on Chris Brogan
Great post, even better commentary!

Only piece I would consider adding is CoComment. Up until this version, they did track comments very well. Now for some reason, it is only tracking mine and not the others. I hope they fix it soon.

in Blog Day is August 31st on Chris Brogan
BlogDay on Aug 31 is a worthwhile thing to do. I admire the attempt. If you would some insight on five to find, you can always check out the Hitchhikers Guide to the Blogosphere. The Team finds a new blog almost every week day. Occasionally, we do Five on Fridays.

How many blogs are there today?

More than enough to go around and then some!

Certainly can use more hitchhikers on the trail!

Let's keep our eyes out.

in Dave Says We Dont Take Podcasting Seriously on Chris Brogan
Justin, I agree. There are those of us for whom this podcast stuff is done on our time, and that free time now is nights and weekends (unless we take vacation time). Just creating a weekday PodCamp won't get it any more credibility than it is already building on its own, the hard way, a little at a time.

2007 will be a good year. The Joyful Jubilant Learning group is going to get into high gear. We collaboratively put together our own 12 days of Christmas. A simple start but indication of more to come.

I recall a Chinese blessing that goes something like it is good for the elders to go before the young, otherwise it is a tragedy. Treasure the moments of gladness and learning he brought.

My thoughts are with you and your family at this time!

Once upon a time, in the playground, Billy or somebody would come over to you and tell you what soandso said. The playground has grown up and yes this is one good valid use for Technorati. I too have success with what you have outlined in this posting.

I too am anxious to meet and talk with some of the Technorati folks at PodCamp because for some other items, I think Technorati is broken.
