Very good post, but I have to agree with Joe that said "If you think SEO is dead, you're doing it wrong." I really do not see SEO disappearing in a few years. Companies will continue to employ those that know the best way to be efficient with the search engines. Why spend 10x as much time finding someone cheaper to do it badly for you when you can just pay the money for someone that knows SEO and be done with it.

As far as freelancing, I have made about as much this year as I ever have working for various clients. Small businesses are the most beneficial from SEO since they cannot afford to spend large amounts of dollars on advertising. By ranking high in the serps, they generate leads without as much costs.

Sure, SEO has changed over the years but it is still one the most important aspects of a website. Social media can bring floods of traffic, but never consistent and targeted traffic. So if your a company that employs an SEO expert, not only keep them, but pay them well. The last thing you want is a someone who ends up doing black hat techniques for your company and gets you banned all together.

I agree that all social networks have loopholes for spam. But for some reason, I always seem to see stuff happening on Facebook. I just don't like using it for some reason, mostly because of all the applications. What is worse, is the new layout they are using which really makes it tricky to get used to.

I travel a lot and these tools help a lot. Twitter is by far my favorite because it is so easy to use. It is easy to stay in touch with friends and family and let them know exactly where you are all the time.

Great Post! Whenever I was cutting or dieting for long periods of time, I would hit the same type of wall. After awhile your body just gets used to being in a deficit.

Cycling carbs, along with eating a little more than usual every few days helped me get passed the hump.

I really like #3, as I feel that eating natural foods is really the only way to get your body in really good shape. You can't expect to look good if all you eat is processed foods that come out of boxes.

I agree with steve. I think the only true form of failure is never trying in the first place. If you try something and give it your all but don't succeed, it isn't really a failure. It's more of a learning experience on what to try the next time around.

Great post! I actually just did a podcast titled "5 Ways to Beat Writer's Block" and it was about the same thing. It can be tough to keep coming up with content but there are ways to make it easier. My favorite thing to do is write a few posts at a time when I am in a writing mood.

That swiss ball chair looks amazing. I would have pictured that as being an office chair but it probably beats a regular leather computer chair. And I agree with Josh, bigger monitors not only make my eyes hurt less but they make it so much easier to be productive. Especially when you have 13 laptop.

I think asking questions is a great way to spark conversation. It gives the reader the idea that they should do something instead of leaving your site and going to a different one. The amount of comments I receive usually has to do with the questions I ask within a post.

I agree with Adam, starting your own company is a great way to gain control over your career. The only person that stops you from being successful is yourself. I agree that it is not a good practice to only look for DoFollow blogs. Any blog can help promote traffic, regardless of the link. However, I wish more blogs would adopt the DoFollow policy.

I love how Google always finds ways to add some humor to their products. It sure beats the send an error report messages we see in Windows constantly.

As far Mozilla, I really don't think they will be affected that much. Chrome is super fast but firefox has a lot of features that it doesn't have.

I prefer to use Flickr for all my photos because it is easy to put them in different collections and then embed them on my blog. I also pay for the service since having a Pro account allows me to keep backups of my full size images in case my computer fries (again).

Good tips on Myspace, I set up an account like 2 years ago and have pretty much never checked it. I think you inspired me to go back and login and see what has happened...lol

I highly agree. I don't think the FTC is going to have a clue on how to regulate this. What scares me more is if they try doing it in all the wrong ways. What's the end result going to be for us bloggers?

However, I do think it's a good practice to share this information with your readers, regardless of the new law. Then again most people can spot a paid review from a mile away.

If you donated half your time to a charity every week, are you notable?

I think so, but I guess some would disagree based on what it is you are notable for in the first place.

That sucks to hear. I know how much of a drag it is to go without a cellphone. On a good note, Apple is really good with their customer service. Just take it in to the "Genius Bar" and tell them what is happening and they should issue a new one. If they try and tell you otherwise, tell them you read a bunch of forums about the same issues and how Apple replaced them with a new one.

The only downside, is I noticed the new phone is only under warranty until the old one was supposed to expire. So what are we supposed to do when this happens 5 or 6 months down the road? Give Apple another 300 bucks, I sure hope not...

I don't think it is a waste of money. Adam and I have both had issues already with our phones. Luckily, mine was under warranty when it happened. But since then, my warranty has now expired. I have my fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

That is an awesome idea. I actually had a similar idea, except I was planning to video record my commute home on the bus. Then make a video of it in fast forward just to show how many cars you pass in the carpool lane and why it is totally worth it.

That reminds me a lot of the bike lanes in Honolulu while I lived there. On more than one occasion, I felt a car mirror touch me as it passed me. And most places make it illegal to ride on the sidewalk, so where exactly are bikes supposed to go?

Luckily where I live, the neighborhood is pretty bike friendly. There a lanes on just about all the roads.

It's nice to see so many people utilizing the DoFollow strategy. I think it helps tremendously when it comes to building backlinks. The only thing I have begun to wonder, is if Google stops passing out PageRank on blog posts due to so many outgoing links. Then again, PageRank isn't as important as it used to be...

But yeah, VistaPrint is pretty good. I have hear people say bad things about them but I have never had a problem. I usually go for the premium cards since they are printed a little better.

That's awesome. Glad to see you are still going strong. Reading this completely reminds me of my own journey I've been on. I'm getting near the 6 month mark.

I actually just got my PS2 back out and starting playing that whenever I need a break. It sure helps relax when you spend all day on the computer trying to get things done.

I think the topic of free content is a great one. The internet has gotten to the point where most people assume that they can find anything they want free of charge. And they usually can since there are so many educated bloggers and writers out there that give away useful information.

Unfortunately, like you mentioned we still need to put food on the table. Sure we can place ads on our websites but it isn't nearly as effective as it used to be.

It would be really interesting to see what others have to say about it.
