That's awesome. What did you do as a horse? Was it all about the sounds, or the galloping? I once crawled under the dining room table and stretched my head over the beam that connected the table legs to pretend I was a horse in a stable leaning down to eat hay from his stall.
The "hay" was an old white cheerleading pompom. tossed on the floor in front of me.
I'm not sure I ever would have posted that story had it not been for you.
I love the reclaiming of rejection letters.

in What's on your must-have list for fall fashion? boots - Petit Bateau - Foley and Corrina - vintage - Luchesse cowboy boots - wide leg jeans | Carrie and Danielle on Carrie and Danielle
yep, boots. I just got a beautiful green pair from el naturalista.
And I think this year I am finally going to design some core sexy staples and have them made. Layer friendly, flattering and funky short dresses to wear over pants, with shrugs and gypsy hoods in black, plum and avocado.
And my own knitted scarves.

in What is the best relationship book you’ve read? on Carrie and Danielle
Yes! Non-Violent Communication was the first book to really hit home what it means to take responsibility for my own feelings. That had a huge impact on my relationships with others. Great book.

in What do you find beautiful about your body? on Carrie and Danielle
I love my body in it's entirety more and more every day.
I love the way it connects me with the world in all it's sensual delights. I love the beautiful and complex wisdom of its functioning.
Highlights: my long long eyelashes, my lips, my hair that has always responded effortlessly to colours, curlers or cuts, my shape that distributes weight evenly as it comes and goes, and my nose. It's strong.

in What are you excited about right now? on Carrie and Danielle
Our Halloween party. It's become legendary. I'm excited about crafting large scale with my sweetheart, about dressing as a "pair" for the first time with him, about out-doing ourselves once again and creating an original magical atmosphere where our friends can explore sides of themselves usually left in the back of the closet.

Oh! I just finished reading that. What a great surprise that book was. I thought from the cover that it would be some kind of 'sex-in-the-city' type thing. Good thing I didn't judge the book by it's cover...
A nice, dark chewy read. Very fun.

I LOVED her book, and especially loved how she promoted her book. Have you seen her film, "you, me and everyone we know"?

in What did you learn from your favorite mistake? on Carrie and Danielle
This one is going to have me thinking all day. A favourite mistake...so many to choose from.
A recent mistake that I loved the moment it happened, was getting a little too cocky at the Roller Rink this past February (I was never much of a skater, I hadn't been on skates of any kind in a decade at least). I totally wiped out and bloodied up my knee, all because Justin Timberlake came on and I decided to bring sexy back.
I would call this a favourite because I hadn't risked that kind of mistake in a long time. It made me feel alive.

I would put it into our ongoing home renovation, and push us into some changes we can really SEE that will boost our spirits and excite us about our vision. (y'know, not in the electrical or plumbing).
I would plan a vacation with my sweetheart, maybe to Amsterdam.
I would pay the tuition for my Expressive Arts Therapy course in full.

in What’s the best work you’ve ever done? on Carrie and Danielle
Coaching is the best, most fulfilling creative work I have ever done.
Before that, my CRASH BLOOM installation was pretty awesome. It was my last art exhibit where I reached beyond a "body of work" and made a big colourful beautiful mess in the gallery space, playing with images and media I loved (yarn, felt, collage, paint, text and photo booth portraits). I even recorded my (legendary in these parts) laugh and had a headset with it running continuously. That exhibit was about letting go of Art (with a capitol A) and getting back into the joy of the creative process.

in This Labor Day, how would you change our work culture? on Carrie and Danielle
What an overwhelming call for a work culture that nurtures LIFE, be it for parenting, for equality, for vacations or for doing what we love. I echo these sentiments.
That's the kind of world I want to live in.
When everyone can be supported to raise a family, be a valued member of society, take time out to rest and do work that is meaningful to them, imagine the kind of revolution that would occur! Imagine the energy as you walk through a crowd of people who are nurtured, fulfilled, relaxed and valued. Imagine the quality of relationships that might be possible in that world...
Then we could tell our children that they can be anything they want to be, and we would mean it, because we would be living it.

in What’s your favorite easy thing to cook? on Carrie and Danielle
If you want to get a little fancy with your cheese on bread, thinly slice granny smith apples to lay over your melted white cheddar. On rye. yum.
I don't recommend cooking the apples, it's all about the crispy zing.
I'm so hungry right now. We just got home and ordered Thai. :)

in 11 Tips For Being Productively Creative: From Obsession to Knowing When to Quit on Carrie and Danielle
11. Great post! (You're great! Way to go!) Excellent reminder.
Honouring the creativity of others is a great way to release the illusion of competition and the fear that ideas are limited. It's true that connecting to the creativity of others is a fantastic way to fuel our own. Sometimes I'm amazed at how, when I support the success of another, I see infinite possibilities.

in When do you hide? on Carrie and Danielle
I hide in the grocery store from people I know when I need privacy and food at the same time.
I hide in mediocrity when I am fearful of my own voice.
I hide in my studio, when I am in love with my own voice.

in When do you hide? on Carrie and Danielle
my friend always answers to solicitors by only cracking the door a smidge, poking her head out looking grave, and whispering, "it's not a good time."
Then she shuts the door.
She said that way, she's not technically lying. It's never a good time.

I put a sign on my home studio door that says DO NOT ENTER: MASSIVE BRAINCHILD HATCHING.
It worked, until the renovations of the studio lead to the entire removal of the door. I'm going crazy with no door. Time for another sign- this time on a big piece of fabric, so I can tent myself in until my door comes back.
