in A tale of two photos on Flickr on Scobleizer
of course the real conversation should about the specifics of what we see.
So what do we see?
1. On th 1st photo we see people who are looking at a golden hotel, we see water.
This could be any tourist-town. It seems unclear why these folks are standing there and why it should be of interest to us. Like in commercial photography it projects beauty to please. It's a -why do I exist?- photo. These are the kind you get on a DVD or buy at a photo stock website.
The second photo is the photo we all make when we are around big things. Does it matters what kind of big object it is? No, it just wants us to say WOW and in this it succeeds. Do we care who is on the photo? Is it a better photo because x is in it? No, it doesn't change the quality of the photo itself. For people who do not know Hugh Macleod (99,99% of all people on earth) this really doesn't matter.
In a strange way these photos are a bit the same.
1. Because of the way they deal with space. (way to much rational here)
2. They both want something.
a. the 1st one wants to sell me a vacation
b. the 2nd photo wants to amaze me like a little boy who sees an airoplane for the first time. These photos are in need.
3. They feels the same. Like some kind of distance.
So if you aggregate these photos like you did Robert, their importance will not alter unless you consider dominance in quantity a quality in itself. Like in money ;-) But! 'Of little value is everything that has a price' Friedrich Nietzsche wrote and of course, talking about photography this is true. Online, photos are free but what they refer to can be meaningful, priceless.

in We get the journalism we spend our attention on on Scobleizer
What do I have to do to inform myself?
A. Watch the news or B. listen to the 3000 scientists working for IPCC who got a nobel prize "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change".
Yep, we need independent scientists looking at important issues and we need bloggers to investigate on what's happening to society, like Friedman http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/06/opinion/06fri...
Of course, these reports makes me feel powerless, insignificant, angry so -human logic- I watch the Olympics. Why? Because this empowers me while I'm sitting on my sofa. I supercharge myself WITHOUT feeling guilty. My server logs demonstrate you are the same way.
So, unless you are The ONE, this poses a boring but valid question;
How can we make sure our children inherit a clean green world? You can early adapt the right way for us by reporting on what's happening in the real world,
the friction between new technology and politics. Don't you agree that it is a bloggers task to mobilize the needed social cohesion for change? Anyway! to paraphrase you: We get the bloggers we spend our attention on.

in The power of a good demo on Scobleizer
@Kevin: Perhaps we should link back a little further Kevin? Then we can understand the rational behind this bias. And then, after we find out what happened, it could be interesting to understand this negative placebo effect. Until then, the way people perceive Vista is right nor wrong. So for me, your judgment -"people are wrong"- is like a conclusion without a memory.

@Christopher: Specs for a OSX clone? Do you understand the unique proposition Apple is trying to make? Would you like a CD to install your vacuum cleaner?
About Microsoft. When the majority of people uses Window this makes Microsoft a consumer company or? Do I care how they make money? If Roald Dahl made a lot of money on Wallstreet (he didn't) he would still be a writer. Did you read CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY? Did you use Windows? Try using Microsoft Paint. Very corporate indeed ;-)

in You are an idiot if… on Scobleizer
This Midori team needs a radical different approach, they SHOULD come up with something different after Vista. But than again, the future is for WWW so I'm migrating to Ubuntu today. It runs Firefox in a completely safe environment, what else do I need?

in Off of the tech entertainment train on Scobleizer
I like your videos a lot! so I agree with Dawn Douglass, your videos should be visible on Scobleizer.com. Not as links but like clickable photos. Why?
1. I'd associate them directly with you. (not that you didn't make them but still)
2. Visually it would make your blog more appealing, eeh...entertaining?
3. It's faster ;-)

in Upcoming updates its event listing; leaves me wanting on Scobleizer
This is exactly why I like Scobleizer.com
1. original angle
2. makes his own investigations
3. Cool tips on how to avoid issues or how to work-around them
For Ian:
If the experience Robert describes is: "The site is so slow for me that it’s almost forcing me to go to Facebook and handle my event calendar there".
he certainly has a point. And if this is caused by a design overhaul it dreadful! How can you disagree with that ;-)
Also, your argue that;
"Once you get up to the level you’re talking about, unless they’re real people that you know, you’re going to get a lot of events which you’ll never be able to go to".
How not-logic to conclude that it's better NOT to get the info from your friends because you might not be able to attend an event. That just baloney.

great tip! although it doesn't transmit RAW files and it's not quick enough to send movies directly to the network. I really wonder why Nikon or Canon do not take care of this problem,
I think it's about time!

in Jimmy Wales is not Wikipedia on Mathew's comments
Jimmy Wales is to Wikipedia what da Vinci was to the Mona Lisa or what everyone who creates something is in relation to whatever he or she created. You can not diminish his role as creator of Wikipedia by stating; "To me, Jimmy Wales is nothing more than the guy who set Wikipedia in motion; it has become much more than a one-man show". You mix up a. creation and b. the effect of a creation
in order to deal with c. your projections of Jimmy Wales. If you state that your not interested in his personal life than start by making the distinction between a & b. If you do so c. will automatically disappear.
Can you explain why you write "nor do I think it’s particularly relevant to what matters about Wikipedia" without writing about the persona Jimmy Wales? After all...he is the one who invented Wikipedia.

in Photowalking with Annie Leibovitz on Scobleizer
If you imagine her celebrity pictures to be "just people" pictures as Annie would like, than what happens? Take a look at this one: http://www.students.sbc.edu/humphress06/whoopie...
Now imagine this to be NOT miss Goldberg but "just"
somebody else. All that's left is just a silly snapshot!

in Business card best practices on Scobleizer
hi Robert. perhabs it's an idea to do a "Signatures best practices"? html or ascii? commercial profit versus irritation.
Wikipedia may have been started by Jimbo, but as far as I'm concerned
he hasn't created it in any meaningful sense -- the tens of thousands
of editors and moderators have done that. His views are important, but
not overwhelmingly so, and haven't been for some time.
