I set aside one day a month as "Ngonzi's Day" to do whatever I want (read a book, gaze out the window, think in silence, walk in the park)- since I tend to feel guilty saying NO when others ask me to do something or go somewhere- I use the 7th of the month as my planned excuse for some much needed "ME TIME".

Re: What is the wish behind your biggest complaint?

The wish behind my biggest complaint is TO ENJOY LIFE! I always complain about not exploring the city, falling into the rut of going to the same old places and doing the same routine things everyday....so my goal is to expose myself to new and different venues, foods, events and cultural activities in Chicago and around the world. I even plan to visit Carrie and Danielle in British Columbia for a consultation. So when I die, I can say-I TRULY LIVED!

Re: What’s your favourite form of exercise?

Hip Hop dance class at Lou Conte dance studio on Wednesday nights is great! We laugh at ourselves, jump around. feel the music and have good ole fashioned fun! I'm usually sweating after the initial warm-up stretches....who knew dancing was so invigorating! It renews my whole persona and helps me clear my mind. I joined the class 15 weeks ago yesterday w a friend. CONGRATS to us for making it this far!!! (Before this, I didn't excercise at all) Now I excercise twice a week. HIP HOP DANCE CLASS is 75minutes and I excercise at least 30 minutes every Monday at the YMCA gym w my coworker/sister. (what makes this so fun, is that we vent about the issues of the day). Collectively excercise is most fun for me.

Re: What helps or hinders you from having a great sex life?

LOVE within a Committed Relationship....openness and honesty!!! My ideal stores are Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, H&M, Carson Pirie Scott...my style is simple, chic, and relaxed. I love cottons, tans, ivory, black and blue. (I can't wear heels-my feet hurt) AND I wear size 11 so it's hard to find cute, stylish flat shoes. When I wake up, I want to throw something on that will make my day flow....and that is simple but stylish....I love throw on shirts (non-button ups). Although, my father grew up fatherless...he reaches out to other fatherless youth....because he remembers a man in the neighborhood that spent time w him as a boy playing sports. Now my father, does the same for youth in Englewood (a neighborhood where they say "No good can come from there" "Englewood only has dropouts, gangsters and drug users").
He has remained there despite the fact that many have left for better paying jobs and retirement funds. He has remained there through drive by shootings, gang wars, and hopeless outlooks from the media. My father is a cornerstone for the West Englewood Community Church and School and Basketball/Baseball program that has been in existence for 27 years plus.....and this same spirit has been passed on to me. My father has given me the spirit of HOPE! He has encouraged me and many others to pass it on to the next generation......HELP OTHERS! GIVE BACK TO THE LESS FORTUNATE! Especially since Sunday is the beginning of the new week...I feel I can let go of all the stresses of the past week and move forward towards new goals and opportunities!

Friendships & laughter make me happy. When I can let down my guard and be myself...and we can relate to each others' happy/sad/trying times.....

Writing in my journal & looking back from how far I've come....how much I've accomplished and the people that I've helped...especially when I'm sad....I like to recount all the blessings I have!

When I complete a goal or a project that I set for myself....I'm ecstatic....because I feel I'm in control of my destiny (as long as it's inside of God's will, of course). So I feel I'm destined for greatness!! I can't wait...4 more years and I'll be Dr. Crushshon psychologist, which will be my greatest feat so far.

I'm happy, when GOOD outweighs bad. When the poor are treated fairly. I'm happy when the homeless are housed. I'm happy when the sick are cared for. I'm happy when someone that was struggling receives a helping hand. I'm happy when one works really hard and is appreciated. I'm happy when others are happy!!!

Re: What do you want to be thanked for?

Yeah I want to be thanked for creating a fabulous meal, too! (instead of doing like I usually do-this old outfit...or this old perfume)-I accepted the compliment and thanked them! So I'd love to be thanked for being THANKFUL to others. Everything else must come after that.....I'm working full time, and attending a doctoral program full time....so there will be little time for extracurricula activities....I know I will miss that a lot....no more YMCA, no more bible study (unless I find one on Monday nights), no more hip hop dance class, no more mentoring girls Princess Within.....I already know I will have to keep reminding myself that in order to accomplish BIGGER AND BETTER things I must focus on school.

Re: The Parable of the Rope, by Peter Russell

I need to let go of getting stuck in routine!
I need to let go of the fear of failing.
I need to let go of past hurt.
I need to let go of procrastination.
I need to let go of friends that are not going anywhere.
I need to let go of STRESS & DRAMA!
I need to let go of other people's expectations of me.
I need to let go of the shoulda, coulda, woulda's.

I need to hold on to God!
I need to hold on to my dreams!
I need to hold on to my friends and family that support and encourage
I need to hold on to love & joy & happiness & peace!
I need to hold on to success.
I need to hold on to going w the flow & prioritizing.
I need to hold on to MULTICULTURAL EXPERIENCES!
I need to hold on to moving outside of my box.
I need to hold on to & Enjoy the RIGHT NOW MOMENTS!

Re: The Parable of the Rope, by Peter Russell

I need to let go and LET GOD! (and believe me I hate cooking). Buy the meat. Wash & season the meat. Put chicken in the crock pot...oxtails & blackeyed peas in the crock pot...and VOILA!!!! It's magic...and it tastes like you slaved over the kitchen stove. I can't wait!

AND of course, I am currently counting down the weeks until my favorite holiday / my bday (November 1st). How many weeks? 10. I'm still thinking of the most SPECTACULAR/fantastic birthday party yet...each year has to top the last!!! Last year was a comedy show and dinner....this year who knows. Any suggestions?

Oh, and it doesn't stop there with the CELEBRATING....yesterday in Spanish class, my teacher said that I will celebrate anything....which is a GOOD thing! We should not only focus on our day to day rountine or the negative things in life....CELEBRATE Everything! Celebrate w a 3 course-meal breakfast instead of cold cereal. Celebrate w a massage today because you didn't cuss out your boss. Celebrate 3 days of non-smoking. Celebrate because you woke up this morning! WOOO HOOO!!! Why do we make things that should be simple, so hard? From a psychological standpoint, behavior is learned, what you think affects how you feel and what you do.....or how you formed early attachments to caregivers (parents, etc.) affect how you currently relate to others.....Is your view of the world that it's a fun loving place and most people are inherently good....or is it people are out of what they can get....or is it a mixture.....

And from a simpler standpoint...people bring past relational baggage into new relationships...and this makes it complicated.

However, there are ways to uncomplicate things. If both parties are willing to:

COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY (listen, understand and respond appropriately)
WORK ON FINANCES ($ money or the lack of can greatly affect the intimacy)
DEVELOP INTIMACY (What is intimacy? is it sex or love or cuddling?)

These also happen to be the 3 things that make/break a relationship
