in Mozilla is becoming disappointing on Community Guy
Agreeed, that is bad news. But the fact still remians that from a development (tools) standpoint there is still nothing better than Firefox, so I as a developer will be stuck.

You can always choose to run an older patched version such as 2.0.0.7 or something along those lines!

I was also going to do a post on his words of wisdom. He had another good one that went something like...

Change if fine ... but it is also illegal

In reference to ageism

in iPod Touch - nothing to do with the iPod on Community Guy
Jake, thanks for this article, you hit it right on the nose - this is a PDA. I have to say that the iPod touch is exactly what I have been wanting for several reasons.

1) As a web (and mobile-web) developer I am always running my websites on different devices for testing and development.

2) Being able to use the iPhone interface without having to get a new Cingular contract is awesome (I am still in a 2-year contract with Verizon).

3) I have a 30GB iPod Video and is it about 75% full (15% of that videos). I have never really liked watching videos on the 2 1/2" screen with the iTouch (I renamed it for Apple!) I will have 3 1/2" (yes, an extra inch does matter) that is a 40% increase in screen size.

I must disagree 98% about the fact that the PDA market is dead. Firstly, the iPod Phone is a PDA by definition. Also, Palm (still my favorite) is releasing new units on a regular basis. Plus, HP just announced another round of Pocket PC connected PDAs.

[I also agree with Dax, no moving parts is a good thing for battery, heat and reliability]

Yes, you have to give them a thumbs up for their marketing departments and the way they roll out products. A++ for Apple!

My mom called me and ask if should could buy me one for my birthday. I had to say no for four main reasons.

1) I am still in contract with Verizon for another year.

2) I have a 30GB iPod (with 15GB occupied), so 8GB will not cut it, since I can't get rid of all of my classic music from the old days.

3) Poor application support, I know everyone keeps talking about these web apps but until they start to show up I can't see myself wanting to ditch my Palm with 30,000+ programs for download.

4) I just got a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet that works so good for viewing web-pages, I don't think I will ever want to view a page on a Pocket PC or Palm OS device.

All that being said, I must agree it looks really a cool device that every techie should have.
