in Call for Mobile Marketing Taxonomy (and it’s sorely needed) on Mobile Industry Review
YES! You are both so right about this.
Of course people say they don't want to "be marketed to" on their mobile devices. But if you ask anyone if you can send them something they WANT to receive (maybe a coupon for a two for one dinner or a free movie) and have given permission to be sent, they say sure. And it is no longer "being marketed to" but instead it is a value added.

in Day 342: Really Quitting Twitter on Social Networking Rehab
I do not like green eggs and ham. Translation: I have no intention of ever giving up Twitter.
Fun post. Hope you're not really quitting.

Great post. I will give it a try. I just don't care for desktop apps since I switch computers often enough to make it a pain.

in The FriendFeed Orgasm And Why It Is Off The Mark on David Risley
I agree with you that Twitter is a much better tool - at least for me. I find FriendFeed to be a lot like a fire hose of information. It is just too much to see, read and be involved with.
Monitoring FriendFeed could be a full time job.

in Thinking About Magazines on Chris Brogan
EXCELLENT question Chris. I love how you think.
I would like to point out that Good Housekeeping has a robust mobile site (m.goodhousekeeping.com). Many of the Hearst publications do. I commend them on moving ahead into technology. They do a really great job of adapting their magazines to mobile. Maybe they will be one of the first to dive into social networking for their readers.

in Proper Twitter Etiquette, What is it? on Social Times
There are two things that are my pet peeves about Twitter and should be added to the Twitter Etiquette Handbook:
First, is people who purposely follow hardly anyone (or no one like Tim Ferris does) and then brag about how many followers they have. Twitter is a conversation tool and to think that others should listen to you without you giving them the courtesy of listening back...rude.
Second, is when people tell other people what they should and should not tweet about it. If you don't like it, just unfollow them, but leave them to their own devices.

Chris:
While doing research for my book on mobile marketing I came across Zena Weist's blog, Nothin'But Socnet (http://nothingbutsocnet.blogspot.com/). I did an interview with her to learn more about social networking. She suggested I jump onto Twitter.
Through following her on Twitter and in Facebook I got to know her well enough to ask her to give me an early read on my book chapter on social networking.
She gave me feedback and told me that my writing voice reminded her of Chris Brogan. So now I follow you on Twitter and here I am. Not only did I get Zena's great feedback, I found your very resourceful blog.

Maybe it is less about fear and more about the people in charge not having any idea how powerful social networking can be. Just a thought.
