Looks like a grenade launcher. Tommy guns are longer, have a smaller round area (magazine? not sure what it is called because it is round) and usually a second grip beyond the magazine/whatever.

That does cause a problem. I have a habit of quoting things in essays and conversation. They sort of fit, but people can tell they are slightly off. And I don't tell them what I am referencing.
