If you are responsible for maintaining the property and ensuring that the tenants pay rent (essentially, a property manager) then there is some work involved in that each month.

I think that investing or creating a self sustaining website (like a forum or wiki) with paid advertising is more along the lines of passive income.

Re: Resistance (apparently) will be futile

Wow, I wonder if this will actually sell.

Re: quitting the rat race, the easy way

Perhaps the underlying issue is calling work a "rat race." Maybe this person didn't like their job and wanted a change...

Re: Credit cards don’t cause debt, people do

I love my rewards cards too. I spend it on everything.

I also got a Discover card with 0% interest for 12 months. I'm planning on keeping a balance on the card for the entire 12 month period. With the money I would have spent in place of the credit card, I will be placing it in a high yield savings account and in the stock market. My hope is that I earn interest in the 12 month period. On top of the rewards I get, this is a source of extra cash for just being financially responsible!

Re: 2007/07/09/buy-blog-comments/

There are definitely ethical concerns in this type of business.
