Dude, if you're not doing PPC, you're missing out on the biggest piece of the pie. You won't make any money at all if you only rely on organic search to drive traffic. Without PPC, I'd still have to work for the man to pay the bills...

While I never had this issue, I want to thank you for pointing us to this website. I've been looking for a similar site for a while but somehow never found anything reliable. I tested my main site on Browser Shots and realized that my site rendered terribly on some browsers, but who cares about Opera 1995?? Not me. Anyways. Thanks for the good info

Yes, you're right!
I'm selling 2 ebooks on CB. Health related stuff (sells better than business stuff!). I have been supposed to work on a new one for the last 3 months but I'm too lazy now and I don't see any rush since I'm already making more than I was in my last job... Anyways. Keep up the good job. I subscibed to your feed and I am following you on Twitter. Let's keep in touch!

in Weekly Recap on Flop Idle, Internet Marketing Blog
One of them is doing great! Iget a paycheck of about $1400 every week from it (actually direct deposit) but I do spend about $500 in PPC on it. With the other product, I make about $200/week and spend maybe $30-$40 on PPC. It allowed me to quit my job, so that's a big plus!!! I think I'm gonna do like you and start writing about what I do and how I do it. Some people might be interested in that...

Elliotw You need to start writing about stuff like you just posted, VERY inspiring stuff my friend im very happy for you too!.

I feel that if I can write about what I do what works best, the readers will be able to do the same things in their own niche. You always see the success stories of what works with some bloggers/marketers, but nothing about the process to get their in the first place.

We need to start an open blogging revolution;), by posting not only the good, but also the bad of affiliate marketing and blogging, you agree?.

I.e - > "Last week I made $13.50" ;) haha, see my point, thats 'real world':).

Are you selling an ebook on CB??.

in Weekly Recap on Flop Idle, Internet Marketing Blog
It's not too bad. I already sell 2 ebooks on CB and I give my affiliates a 50% commission. I'm gonna look into this Amazon Kindle thing, that might be another way to generate more sales. I wish we could sell the ebooks on Amazon for people to download (not Kindle), THAT would help us generate more revenues quickly I think.

Elliotw That would be nice if Amazon allowed us to do that!, maybe they might if this Kindle thing really does start to grow with even more info products?

How are your CB products going?, any success?.

How much does Amazon take per sale? Is it a fixed percentage?

Elliotw I think this percentage may be different depending on the product, but I was told it averages about 30%, and this was the case with my first sale.

Hope that helps you Sebastien:)

in Cracked iPhone Apps - The Hacked App Store | Matt Browne on Matt Browne
I kind of agree. Two things though:

1. Nothing is uncrackable. So if someone can code an app that cannot be cracked today, I bet you that by tomorrow it will be available on the Pirate Bay.

2. I don't think the future is in free apps. I do believe there will be more and more ad supported apps but free will never rule the app market. Do you really think that EA Games spends hundreds of thousands of dollars in game dev to make it available for free? Nope.

A good compromise, which should have been implemented since the beginning, is to give the devs the opportunity to offer a free trial of their apps. I am NOT talking about an additional app that you will call "xyz lite", I am talking about the full on app, with limited features.

I personally never buy an app without trying it first on Appulous. Why? Simply because most apps are crap! Out of the maybe 100 apps I downloaded and tried thanks to Appulous, I ended up buying maybe 20 because the 80 remaining were just not good. If I had been able to try them "legally", I wouldn't have bought them either, but at least I wouldn't have been supporting the black market.

That was just my 2 cents.

mattsurfs I think you are right about both points. Definitely #1, but I think your thoughts on #2 have more merit. I think you are right. Paid apps won't be going away, but free (full featured) trials will be necessary. Such is the case with just about any software sales. You must give people value before asking them to pay.

Thanks for your comments about Appulous. I am buying apps at about the same rate, 1/10 might be worth purchasing after I've tried them.

But where does this leave apps like Koi pond, where you pay for the novelty? Once you've seen the app, you aren't likely to pay for it.

I'd like to see the ability to try apps for free move out of the 'black market' and into the mainstream.

in Hotmail on iPhone on What Is New
This app is not available in the app store yet. Well, at least i can't find it... Besides, I want my email in the Mail.app, not in another app. I want to be able to check all my emails from one app only (mail.app). It seems like a nice app though. I'm surprised it made it to the app store as it totally replicated the mail.app functionality, which is against Apple's iphone SDK.

Bill Just search for Hotmail in the app store. It is there and it works.

in Hotmail on iPhone on What Is New
Thank you for your reply. I already have about 10 folders (work, surf, iphone, family, etc...) so I shouldn't have any problem. I am currently using izymail which works great. The only problem I have with izymail is that my sent emails from iPhone sometimes end up in the spam folder of the recipient. I don't htink i would have this issue with Hotmail Plus.

Hello Lora,

What if I have 5 or 6 emails in my inbox, do I still need to create a new folder? I usually keep my inbox clean and move/delete emails as they come.

Let me know.

Thank you

Lora Heiny's picture
Lora Heiny 5 or 6 "new" or read emails will be fine to start.

You will still want to create a folder though for messages that you'd like to save. You'll need to move these over from your PC.

in Making i.TV a Little More “Social” on i.TV Blog
Hey Jesse,
I posted a pretty good review of i.TV on my blog (http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/finally-a-goo...) and Justin W actually read it and commented on it. Anyways.
I'm curious, how do you guys make money?
Where should I send me "new features requests"?? The email alert is cool but what would be better is to send the email 10-15 minutes before the show starts!
Let me know.
thanks
Sebastien

jessestay Sebastien, you can either send your feature requests to feedback@i.tv,
or even better, add it to the UserVoice page I mentioned above. http://itv.uservoice.com
We have a monetization strategy - we haven't quite revealed it yet
though. The one thing you can take comfort in is that the app will
remain free for you.

in Cross Pollenate Your Social Network on Matt Browne
While I agree with the general idea of your post (back up back up back up), I would like to highlight the fact it might not be always easy to cross pollinate your network. If I have a follower on Twitter, in most cases, his profile will not list much contact info (no linkedin, no name, no email address), making it harder to add the new follower to other social services (like facebook).

Besides, do you really want/have time to add a new follower to your 55 social network profiles. I don't. I'm sure you don't have time for that either.

But again, I agree that you have to back up data as much as you can. Losing followers on Twitter might not be life threatening. Losing contacts in your SalesForce account is a different story.

On a side note, when is the last time a major website like Twitter (is it a major website anyway? It looks like one but I don't think they behave like one) lost its users' data??
