in Why I Deleted my Facebook Fan Page on Chris Brogan
Yes, but you can still allow yourself to serve as a focal point for a community of people with related interests. That's the best use for a Facebook fan page, IMO.

I know exactly how you feel. In a couple of weeks, I'll end my terms on two not-for-profit boards I've sat on for *years*. As much as I enjoyed working with them, I am SO looking forward to having more time to write songs, write other stuff, work around the house, etc.

I hated to miss it 'cause I knew the presentations were going to be fantastic. Will there be videos posted?

So you're saying that Weird Al's "It's All About the Pentiums" video spawned a whole genre? How very strange. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky-JTAPhmUo

I believe I will come out tonight! I've been intrigued by the whole thing since you posted about it the first time around.

I'd go with #1, #3 or #5.

#3 is interesting because I've been wanting to write a book/develop a new presentation around this idea and I thought Pecha Kucha might be a good opportunity to lay the foundation for both of those things.
But right now I'm thinking #1 or #5 with #1 being in the lead from all the feeback I've gotten from various folks around the interwebs.

Every industry has its own rock stars who are unknown to the general public. My dad was (is?) in that category in his field, so it always amused me to see how awed and excited some people would get when they met him, even though by any standard definition of fame he's "just some guy."
As Sarah pointed out, this is a helpful post for people who find social media conferences intimidating.

in No NaBloPoMo for me. on the martini shaker*
I'm viewing this year's NaBloPoMo as the chance to kick-start my posting again. I've really slacked off since Twitter entered the picture for me and I want to see if I can train myself back to 5 posts per week.

You Missouri folks have cooler stickers than we Kansans get.
I'm linking to my voting post from this morning. You'll notice I was a little giddy when I wrote it.

To be fair, I added a little Photoshoppery to mine. It's not exactly like that.

After having taken your challenge to listen to the whole song, I'm not sure how it could possibly have stuck with you for more than a millisecond after it ended. Of course, I say that now. We'll see how I feel when it's haunting my dreams. ;)

I'll definitely be at the next one. You may want to consider a morning other than Friday, which conflicts with the weekly advertising/marketing bloggers Coffee Morning. Or perhaps you can just invite them!

I'll be interested to see what solution you end up with. We use Google Calendar with separate categories for each person's individual schedule, a category for shared activities, one for our band practices and band member availability, and a fifth for gigs. It would be very useful to have it more portable.

in Are blogs still relevant? on the martini shaker*
I like having a blog as my home base for all my other social media activities. I may cut back on posting (and, in fact, I already have), but I don't see myself discontinuing it. I like having a long-form medium for photos and/or stories.
