Okay, to wrap up all the other recommendations, I'd like to suggest "Battle Royale" by Koushun Takami. I read this book during high school and loved it. It couldn't have come at a better time. It takes teenage angst to a completely new level, as a class of children and adbandoned on an island and are forced to kill each other until one is left. It's creative, and a wonderful depiction of human desperation. The movies definitely don't give the book justice, ut if you've been drooling over Misa-Misa's clothes in the Deathnote Live action movie, you'll be glad to know that her hunny Light also plays the main character in both Battle Royale movies. It's an outstanding read.

Another novel that caught my attention was by the wonderful Laurel K Hamilton. The novel was a part of her Anita Blake series and was titled "Obsidian Butterfly". The entire story emphasizes each of the characters personalities interacting with one another, which gives the reader a more in touch and comfortable feeling about the novel. I would definitely recommend this book. Not to mention, it has vampires, what more could you ask for?

Let's see another amazing book that I happen to have in my collection is, "The Canterbury Tales" by Chauncer. I enjoyed this collectiosn of stories told through the viewpoints of different people. It was quite stoic, and I appreciate having the opportunity to discover such an interesting story.

His work looks amazinng, like something I definitely wouldn't mind venturing into.

Let's see.

I actually did enjoy the book "Memoirs of a Geisha". Like with most movies it left out a whole lot from the book, things that I considered to be quite important plot elements. If you've only seen the movie, you're missing out on a great story.

Let's see, another one of my favorite books would have to be "The Crucibal". I know its more like a play, but it's still an amazing story. I think that it shined a different light on the Salem Witch Trials, one which made it easier to understand the fables from the truth behind it. I could read it all day and night nonstop.

My favorite novel of all time has to be, "Sunshine" by Robin McKinley. She's known mostly for her fantasy writing. Post Pre-Dungeons and Dragons work. Sunshine is her only vampire novel. It has to be the most grounded and realistic modern view of vampires that I have ever read. I love when people reach beyond their comfort zones to produce something beautiful, like that book. I often think about what how many people might have discouraged her and wanted her to stick to her usual genre. In a way it inspired me, and gave me something to do for a hot summer weekend. Its one of my most treasured books.

lacarmina Vampires = yessss! Have you read Poppy Z Brite's "Lost Souls"? It also has a fascinating modern take on vampires... the younger ones basically live like boozin' and bitin' rock stars.

Sounds pretty interesting, they all actually listen to their parents!?!? GASP! Strange and alien territory here.. LOL! xD! I guess the selectivity is actually a good thing I really can't stand staying on MySpace longer than it takes to check the occasional email. Regardless, this should be interesting. And if you get to avoid the OMFGSMEXNOW! people, its sooo worth it.
