in While Twitter Jumps The Shark The Cool Kids Jump To FriendFeed on Jesse Newhart
Well said, Jesse! The FF beta released a few weeks ago has taken user interaction to a whole new level. It's commonplace now for me to share a link via a bookmarklet and then strike up a conversation with other FFers that lasts throughout the day, all without my even having to visit FriendFeed.com.

The continually expanding communications options are what make the FriendFeed platform so great.

My mother in law gave us a camo "Diaper Dude" with blaze orange trim. It's entertaining to say the least.

in Leaving Your Octagonal Outhouse on Above and Beyond KM
At the risk of sounding like a broken record I couldn't help but think EMAIL! EMAIL EMAIL! when I read this passage:

"It’s astonishing how long we can tolerate substandard systems, seemingly unconscious of the toll they take on our productivity and morale."

VMaryAbraham Too true, Daniel! It will be interesting to see how long companies cling to their e-mail octagonal outhouses. What's so hard is that unlike the 18th creators of the octagonal outhouse, we do have better options. We just choose not to adopt them.

Great news! This cements my desire to keep DISQUS on my blog and it makes me much more interested in Facebook Connect now. Any word on some Google integration?

Ouch, my last comment should've said "it's", not "its'". How embarassing.

Chris,

I love the new look and its' making me want to try Thesis myself. My only complaint is that your site's favicon is outdated and ought to be brought in line with the new color scheme.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the nod, Mike! Hi Mona!

Awesome! I used to love midnight Wal-Mart loitering when I was younger, but it never occurred to me to go there for nap time.

Glad to see you representing Memphis on Dad-o-matic, Buck.

Hutch and I are on the same page re: email as a notificaiton service. I'm really happy to see the "stop trying to cram everything through your email system" movement taking off.

My corporate email account has a 70 MB limit. The search functionality (Notes 6.5) pales next to what GMail had in 2004. Bring on Enterprise 2.0!

Thanks for writing this blog! The parts about how weight and salary tend to match those of our friends were particularly interesting. I just made a major weight change, I wonder if I could do the same for my salary?

in Announcing Dad-o-Matic on Chris Brogan
Funny, I saw @buckdaddy tossing around the idea of a "BlogHer" for dads this week on Twitter. This is certainly an underserved space and I'm glad it'll be out there for me to read.

Thanks!

in Oh, That Bloated Presentation - The Web is Greener on Zoli's Blog
Good call, Zoli. I like to use this "wikis are better than emailing word documents around" graphic when I discuss workflow problems with people: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dpritchett/2752906...

I also blogged about online collaboration for slideshows yesterday. Can you tell me which provider you prefer for web-based presentation collaborations?

in Share Share Share Share Share on Chris Brogan
Excellent concept. Someone should write a blog about sharing at work. Ahem.

Seriously though, great post. I like your take on the issue and I think I'll be riffing on it in a post of my own soon.

I developed my appreciation for sharing by spending three years in a corporate IT department and wondering why I so often had to duplicate the efforts of others or wait around for new work to find me. Today I'm doing my best to make sure our lessons learned are captured online and highly visible for those who come after us.

Since it's open source we'll eventually get Adblock, but I'll still feel funny about it given that Chrome is developed by an advertising company.
