in Ch-ch-ch-challenges on Kim Werker Blog
Go Kim! I've done similar with my woah I missed my "post photos of my workspace for 365" too and I'll just post as I can and try to keep up. I "won" nanowrimo a few times (I type fast and if it went more stream-of-conscious than normal, I went with it), but it's nothing I'd ever want to have anyone read. it's the exercise and challenge in writing every day for thirty that I enjoy. We'll see what happens this year.

Kim Werker I do have this romantic image in my head of, like, retiring to my hotel room
and forcing myself to write for an hour before passing out. We'll see...

I agree with annette and am often surprised at what my ovaries make me do. so far i've gotten them to behave themselves overall but ya know.. sometimes, they surprise me.

I look forward to it! You've inspired me to try to cut down the caffeine intake. Actually more my white sugar consumption than the caffeine bothers me but we'll see what happens. Good luck and I look forward to publication...

@kim: yes... like a different button hole or hmm.. i don't crochet often from patterns so it's hard to think up examples and i'm not creative enough to design so it's a different world to me. i guess how do you try not to cross the between line between designer feature and bug. er. uhm.. does that clarify at all?

aah.. contributing to my reading list .. :) i find editing fascinating and look forward to learning more about this magic realm i know little about ..

i agree that rejecting a sc sweater on 4mm with bulky doesn't seem too hard [to ignorant me] and that if you were to work with the designer to make something wearable today (unless the intent was indeed armour) would make it more your design than theirs. but i'm curious what little things work? or is it similar to my having my husband read many of my papers and find them returned with "penny-speak, rework" in the margins or is that the part of a technical writer? hmm... i am ignorant !

i still owe you big glasses .. mum had hidden the photos so next time i visit her i'll try to dig 'em out.

Funny, I always find my mum's photos elegant and timely from her childhood through early adulthood (say age 25, before she had lots of heartbreak). Her HS yearbook photo ('57) is gorgeous to me ....

I recall my mum's big glasses (they were red) and what fun i made of her... actually *blush* that was at the time of most of these photos (i'm the little sister to this group but i wasn't born in the 80's), I wasn't a glasses wearer yet (though I should've been. go me for memorizing the school eye chart and being short). But the pair I got a few years later (well, after I broke several that school year) made up for it. I'll find that photo for you this weekend. Promises. to me they were HUGE (though in retrospect, probably not).

@Kim: (i need coffee) i still have all the yearbooks (incl. elementary school). i'll dig out some gems for you when i next visit mum. mentally i burnt them; i'm pretty sure that physically they are /somewhere/.

i think i've burnt all those photos of me but i'll explore if mum saved any -- you're not alone! and the optometrists wonder why today i try to cram bifocals into the smallest possible frames...

with my name, an enjoyment of my very light brown hair in pigtails (though no bangs), a Comp Sci degree, *AND* collection of various "electronic notebooks" (including an ASUS eee) how could I not?! an iPhone would ROCK though I don't like the service plans state-side... i'm a little "frugal" on my cell plans. I prefer the old Newton ... it's closer to the other Penny's and I do like keyboards... I don't have an Uncle or a dog named Brain ... (do you need more than that?) ;)

I haven't yet read ALL of the interweave crochet I picked up this afternoon, but what I've flipped through I LOVED. Thank you!! :)

may you have a complete and speedy recovery from the surgery.

i've found that practising writing every day helped my writing, i should try it with the camera.. good luck. :)

still haven't organized my book shelf but may i second the recommendation of 'nemesis' and add to it 'Time and Again' by Jack Finney.

and I whole heartedly endorse 'ender's game'

in Wanted: Quality Reads on Kim Werker Blog
oh most definitely ender's game! I'm due for a reread. now i'll have to organize my sci-fi collection so i know what i own and what i don't.. foundation is on my list for another attempt this summer.

I'll try to read anything .. Off the top of my head, perhaps you might like Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy? (it's environmental to a degree but I don't recall items about food) Maybe some Ursula Le Guin? I'll have to ponder this some more.. Because I'll read anything and then get sucked into a series just because it exists, makes it hard for me to give recommendations I feel are solid.

I keep meaning to finish Foundation..

That is awesome. :) I heard about the study yesterday (while in Montreal which made it nicer) and was excited by it ... once upon a time i assisted in some research somewhat similar (but really not.. just linguistics)... I miss it.

yeah. i'm four months into my new he11 but uh.. still up and thinking about all my work and not fast asleep and dreaming of vacation. which was needed four months ago shortly after returning from the last ohtoshort week off when all sh!t hit the fan and one client took over my life. which really is fine. i just need to figure out how to delegate better. oh and track changes? evil. imho. and i'm purposely staying away form some knitting projects because i worry what i might do with another cup of coffee, some advil and some small metal sock needles. *sigh*
