in How to Stop Chain E-mail Forwarding from Relatives & Coworkers on Social Media Rockstar
Better than what a friend does...

He uses a different unconnected email address and 'replies' to the email with a request to be removed, as well as CC'ing any email address that was visible ih the original forwarded email, but this time, he changes the original forwarded content (leaving all the >> and stuff alone). He changes it to something that is extremely personal ("Have you tried XYZ to deal with your herpes? blah blah blah")

Usually people on the email stop forwarding them.. but I think your way is better and more direct.

in Exclusive cellphone contracts under review by Senate on AMERICAblog
Two main points:

1. Exclusive contracts permeate nearly all industries. If you don't like it, start or invest in a company that makes a better product than the one you crave. It's capitalism and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

2. Even if the iPhone 3G or 3GS were available on a non-exclusive basis in the U.S., it would only work on the the slower GPRS/EDGE data network of T-Mobile and a few smaller GSM carriers. It could never work on the Verizon or Sprint networks, since they use CDMA 1X and EV-DO. You're not insisting that Apple spend money developing multiple versions of all of its platforms simultaneously, are you? With that kind of requirement, we'd never have any innovation.

I realize that this is a frustrating situation, but in this country, government intervention in these types of scenarios is simply untenable.

nicho One main point. If these corporations really believe in "free market" capitalism, why do they have exclusive contracts. Let me pick my phone and pick my carrier. May the best company win.

Free-market capitalism is absolute bullshit. No corporation wants a free market. They all want the playing field tilted toward them.

And, it's pretty clear that Apple wants to get out of its exclusive deal with AT&T. This is one of the reason they added all the goodies on the phone that AT&T doesn't support, but the European carriers do.

I'm holding off on the iPhone until I have a choice of carriers.

And, how the hell did Steve Jobs get a liver. I have a friend who is on a list to get a new liver. He's been there for two years. He's in bad shape, but they've pretty much told him there will be no liver until the vultures are actually circling his house. Jobs hops on his private jet, flies to TN and gets one the next day. I guess it pays to be a billionaire.
yawn Apple would create multiple versions in a hot second, and I'm sure they would already if they didn't already have an exclusive contract with AT&T.

in Spec Work Is Evil / Why I Hate CrowdSpring | Andrew Hyde - Humble Yet Bold on Andrew Hyde
It all comes down to the old saying that you get what you pay for. I think not only are designers being lazy but so are the companies that want the design. To get a true identity that stands the test of time takes a lot of work on both sides. These designers and companies want to go the easy route. So be it. The work they receive looks cheap and they have no one to blame but themselves.

It's not surprising since we have been losing fine craftsmanship in all industries for many years. People want quick, fast and cheap. Just look at our automobiles, new homes, clothing, furniture, etc. There's a reason why everyone wants "retro" because the things being produced now could never live up to the products from the past.

in Spec Work Is Evil / Why I Hate CrowdSpring | Andrew Hyde - Humble Yet Bold on Andrew Hyde
I took a look at CrowdSPRING. My favorite was a buyer upset that a design didn't look professional enough for their Fortune 500 company. I couldn't help laughing. If they are wanting a professional design, then why aren't they sitting down with a company and working on it with them? This process is shoddy, lacks any real communication and to be honest, looks cheap. I run a company and I can't imagine getting something from there. I might as well use those ugly pre-packaged Microsoft templates. I'd save a bundle. LOL

regardless of the setup, she's the waitress, you're the customer, that's potential sexual harassment, and it's rude (at the very least) to touch strangers uninvited. you might think you know where the line is, but sorry to say, you're not a girl, and yes, it is different. i don't mean for you to feel to attacked by my comment, i hope you really think about it. I don't believe you meant any harm, but these sorts of things can get out of hand and ugly really quickly.

agreed, she could lose her job for talking back to customers. please stop doing that and don't encourage others to do it. touching people uninvited (especially those you are paying to perform a service) is really uncool.

in Socialized Medicine In The US Could Cost Me My life on WesternFront America
"Since 1965 I have been hospitalized over 70 times. I have had numerous surgeries and I must see a doctor every four to six weeks of my life."

In the USA you would have been dead by about 1980 because if you can't afford the huge premiums, you're a dead man. Someone in your poor health would now be paying about $10K/month for coverage if they could even find an insurer willing to take them on...which is doubtful in your case.

Be grateful that the civilized Canadian system keeps even people like you alive.
