My question: when the US no longer have an oil interest in the Middle East, what is Israel going to do?

I believe that if there was no oil, Israel would have folded as a country.

Alternative fuel may also be a threat to Israel sovereignty ?

I totally agree with you. My children believe in Santa. I see parents and little children shop for Christmas presents. Their behavior leave a lot to be desired. The parents are ATM machines to these kids. Children make demands and have crying fits if they don't get what they want. The parents are angry, frustrated, and worn out.. There is no joy in the Christmas shopping.

My children will experience the wonder and joy that I experienced in Christmas as a child. My children enjoy the holiday season. They love the cooking, the decorating, viewing holiday displays, the music and the tv shows. It is a joy to see them get into the Christmas spirit

I am looking for the Christmas song "Father Father Father" by Kool and the Gang. I remember hearing when I was a very little girl. It was a B-side of a Kool and the Gang song I don't remember. I've have been looking on and off many years for that song. Does anyone know that song.

That is what I blogged about yesterday under the Warren post. Obama is putting into play a way to neutralize the religious right. I believe Obama is doing this by compromising one religious leader at a time. Don't think the religious right is not working overtime to derail the Obama's administration for ideological reasons. Don't think they are not trying hold on to the influence and power they've be accumulating since the Reagan years.

SDG Tell it now! I co-sign ljf. They are plotting and scheming as we speak. Obama needs to get ahead of their asses and I believe this is how he's doing it. He doesn't do impulse, not from what I've seen. He's a deliberate individual and this was calculated and shrewd just like Craig Hickman stated.

in Should the “Purpose Driven Preacher” Pray over the POTUS? on Jack and Jill Politics
As much as I can not stand the idea of Obama letting Rick Warren near him. I see it very differently. I see the whole Rick Warren as a slow process of neutralizing the religious right political organizations. Think about how many fundamentalist follow Warren. By Warren praying over Obama. Warren is showing some segments from the religous right that Obama is all right in the eyes of God. Imagine the impact that would have on the movement.

Don't forget folks if you think them crazy Saltines went buck wild against Clinton. Think how they will rally their troops against Obama. They'll make the Clinton ordeal look like a Sunday walk in the Park. There are people who do not want Obama presidency to succeed, no matter what cost to the country. Many of them are fundies.

Think about it. How many times have white men tossed token women, LGBT, Latino, Blacks, Asians to quiet us down. After we see the tokens everything become right as rain (for the most part). Why can't Obama use that same tactic.

If there is anything "not Black" about Obama it is definitely his dance moves. That being said.

I don't give white folks be given passes just because the enjoy Black music. Hell, for that matter Lee Atwater is OK by me because can play blues guitarist and Tony Snow (former Bush Press Secretary) enjoyed jazz music and was a decent jazz flautist.

Naw I'm not into giving a white boy a pass just 'cause he can count on the 2 and the 4.

BTW Steve Colbert looks as if he can throw down, too. But he would be alright with me if he couldn't. Swervin' them hips is just a bonus.

I believe the word should be popular, not weak. That particular senate race was perfect for New York being that New York is a major media market. The senate race was more of a marketing contest. Which product do you prefer the "America's Mayor" or the "Ex-Presidents Wife".

But you are right, I forgot when it all boils down to it, politics is a popularity contest.

How silly of me to think that I would prefer a senate candidate to represent my state who actually done a lot of leg work and help push good legistation. Maybe someone like Nydia Velazquez. But she is weak because she does not have the celebrity status as Kennedy, Hillary, and Guiliani.

I personally don't give a damn about that Clinton feels threaten if Kennedy has the Senate spot. I just want a someone who toiled the fields getting the spot for a change.

I have to ask what is it about this man you do not like. I would like to know more. As I stated in earlier posts about my view of New York City Chancellor Joel Klein. When I heard the name Joel Klein thrown around as possible Secretary of Education I was livid. I had emailed change.org several times about my views on Joel Klein.

No she did not sweep aside good seasoned politicians. The democratic party swept aside good seasoned politicians because they had to have someone with name recognition to run against "America's Mayor".

She barely won against Lazlo and if Guiliani had not drop out the race Clinton would not have accepted Obama's office as SoS. She would be boiling a pot of grits to through on Bill's cheating ass.

And instead of "Former Mayor Rudolph Guiliani endorsed John McCain, it would have been "Senator Rudolph Guiliani endorse John McCain.

Town So basically the New York Democrats are so weak they had to import the First Lady to run off of her husband's name to hold on to that Senate seat.

That tells me that the problem isn't with Caroline Kennedy, it's with a weak crop of Democratic candidates.

Instead of worrying about Caroline being a dynasty pick, encourage the good, seasonsed qualified politicians of New York to step up and seek that seat.

However, if there are none, or if they are weaker than Caroline, the problem isn't with Caroline, it's with the general field of NY politicians, hmm?

Do you really think SHE wants to be POTUS or is it that WE would like the idea of her being POTUS. I have never noticed anything in her public life or career that would hint that she want to run for the highest office. Sorry, not. a. thing.

Other than working on Team Obama, what else has she done to demonstrate that she is on this quest to run for the highest office. What else in her life demonstrated this inclination to doing the necessary work to lead this nation.

I admire her work and the work she has done for New York City. I have not seen anything here on the ground.

Do you think all politicians make good vetters (vetting team) and that all vetters make good politicians?

Just because you hired to do something well in one area of politics means that it can transfer into another area of politics. If someone is a state circuit judge does that means they are an excellent state senator?

I am not denying the woman's work. I am saying that there are good seasoned politicians in New York State that should not overlook because of her name.
Town Yet good seasoned politicians in New York were swept aside for Hillary Clinton.

What qualified Hillary to be Senator from New York? She hadn't even lived a day in New York!

The ironic thing is if she had skipped her ass back to Illlinois where she's from and grew up and ran for the Senate seat that ultimately went to Barack Obama, there wouldn't be a President-elect Barack Obama today.

You have to remember. When Hillary first ran, she ran against Julie "fucking" Annie.
Who's Julie Annie? That fucktard who mocked community organizers at the 2008 Republican Convention. Yes Former New York gestapo ooops I mean mayor Rudolph Guiliani. If you were under his mayorship you would have done anything to make sure he was not the Senator of New York.

They Democrats put up Hillary for fear that Julie Annie (America's Mayor) would win the Senate seat. Democrats need a national face to run against Mr. Gestapo.

Annie dropped out late in the race and and was replaced by an unknown Republican upstart Rick Lazlo from Long Island. He came late in the game and lost to Clinton.

Yes Hillary won. But there were a lot of twist and turns in the race.

Town Didn't Hillary sweep aside "good, seasoned politicians" who were actually from New York to run for that seat?

Hillary barely won that seat, it's not like she won in a landslide.

I agree. I'm from New York. I like the idea that Caroline Kennedy as a Senator. However, I am just not ready for her to be Senator of New York. I would like to have some one who has been on the battlefield doing the work.

From afar, Senator Caroline Kennedy is a great idea. But up close, naw. There are a lot of seasoned politicians who know the New York terrain well. I think they can do a mighty good job as senator for the state.

Caroline Kennedy has done a lot of good for New York City. She reminds more of the Astors, Rockefellers and the Vanderbilt, dynastic families that created foundations and were very much involved in philanthropy. She is not a Chuck Schumer, Al D'Amato (could not stand that man) or Jacob Javits.

As Webb stated, other than her last name what qualifies her the Senator of New York.

Yes NYC does a history of doing that. I can tell you stories about redlining caused the that creation of Harlem and Bedford Stuyvesant slums. Yes Robert Moses (my brother calls Moses an anethema(sp)) used federal Title 1 money to disposes Black, Brown and poor folks in the 40's, 50's and 60's.

What people do not know is that the actions of Robert Moses helped lead to the urban decay that exposed in mid-70's with Pres. Jimmy Carter touring the South Bronx. It was Moses who initiated and controlled the building of the housing projects and expressways all over the city. He destroyed community cohesion (synergy of local businesses, long standing neighbors relations, and housing) by rezoning, and tearing down existing structures and institutions that are needed for neighborhoods to prosper. He was the most powerful man in New York City for over three decades. No one, not one single mayor had more power than Robert Moses.

Gentrification from Koch administration forward was the "remedy" for Robert Moses' willful act of urban destruction.

in President-Elect Obama’s Weekly Youtube Address on Jack and Jill Politics
I don't like the pick. That pick worries me. But to be fair to Bloomberg, this gentrification mess started with the Koch administration in the mid-80's. Koch and his boys were definitely in the pocket of real estate. But what makes Bloomberg different than the Koch, Dinkins, and Guiliani administrations is that real estate is for big business. Unlike the previous administration which gentrification was about families with big income. Big business bring in bigger revenue (property taxes, business taxes, as well as other monetary perks) than individual families. So those family who make the measly amount of 200,000 or less are hard press to find homes in the New YOrk real estate market. (homes in good neighborhoods can cost 1 mil and more.

What also worries me is the Sec of Education pick. I've been hearing the name Joel Klein thrown around. I pray he does not pick him. He is not an educator. He is a shrewd lawyer that finds loopholes to a) position big business to suck off the tit of the education budget, thus little less money is provide for actual services for the children b) weaken unions c) install fear and paranoia in the work place d) neutralizes the power that parents, teachers, and administators have the educational system.

I have written to change.gov in with regard to Joel Klein. He can not be anywhere near the Obama administration.

I read Booker Rising. Mainly for entertainment purposes. Really, I laugh at some of the postings there. Even though I am not a conservative nor a Republican, I don't really have major philosophical issues with founder of Booker Rising. I just wish that the things that she post were little more critical in it's analysis. It seems like most her posting are Republican talking points. I like it's Pan-Africanist view of Black politics. The writings of some the more right leaning respondents are something else, to say the least. Personally, I think one of the bloggers got some DEEP DEEP seated issues. (HInt: he post on this blog every now and then.) He reminds of an middle aged air guitarist living in his parent's basement.

With reading about NASA stonewalling Obama's transition team, and Mary Beth Buchanan not leaving her post. I see that white folks in power do not take PE Obama power seriously. I think there is a deep psychologically disconnect with Black man and power. They think that Obama who is a powerful man AND from Chicago (mind you, with their "Machiavallian politics) would not "cold clock" them politically in a quickness. Just asks the political corpse he left behind in Chicago politics and the Presidential Campaign.

I purposely did not mention Bruh Man Brago. I think he is just straight up gangsta and IMHO he would have reacted the same way if Obama had been white.

I have heard of community activist getting killed when they go against big money interest. Suffice to say I am not surprise. In fact when I first heard about Rezo scandal and Obama (sp) I said to myself "that's all?'. Is Rezno the only corrupt person Obama had relationship with in all his years in politics. I thought it was common knowledge that Bobby Caldwell sang that song. I remember when my older brother bought the album. If I am not mistaken Caldwell had a beard and a mustache.

During that era there were a quite of few white R&B artists that never really crossed over to a pop (white mainstream) audience.

Anovelista Exactly. Growing up, the only white artist that stunned me was Teena Marie because I did not see her face until I went to buy her album "Lady T" in our little local record store. Hall & Oates were based next door in Philly (I'm from South Jersey) so no surprise there although Lisa Stansfield almost got me in the 90s.
