in More Virtualization on In Pursuit of Mysteries
Couple of things:
-- I have it on good authority that Fusion 1.0 is about to be released; I'm pretty sure RC1 either went out the door, or is very close to going out the door.
-- You technically can virtualize OS X; there are a couple of hacks floating around on the 'net to get OS X working in VMware.
FWIW, I'd recommend standardizing on VMware; with the addition of Fusion, there's no reason that testers should be constrained to using a Mac, and you'll have the benefit of using the virtualization platform that the rest of us (build/IT) use.

in iPhone battery problem on John's Blog
Not three hours after I read this, I had the same problem. I used my iPhone to listen to a couple of songs around... oh... maybe 9 or 10 pm tonight (I was at the office), and I only have a couple of albums on there, so I only used it for a little bit (no more than a half hour). When I put it to sleep, it had 75+% battery left (because I didn't use it much today).
When I got up to go home about a half hour, it was dead.
Did you have your headphones in it? I left them plugged into the jack; I wonder if that causes it to do something that drains its power.
I did some searches at the first few iPhone forum sites Google brought up, and I read complaints in general about the battery life, but nothing like this. :-/

Let me know if you ever run into any problems with VMware or have any questions on how to set stuff up. I do the reference platform stuff on the build side; I think I got "stuck" with it because I worked at VMware before MoCo. :-)

in this is supposed to be a good thing? on John's Blog
I'm surprised that Schmidt used the words "total information" together. Immaterial of what he meant or was referring to, the last time we were faced with a "total information" program, it didn't go over very well.

in AMT. bah. on John's Blog
Yeah, and I love how TurboTax is typically completely useless in this area. The AMT screen just saying something like "Based on your information, you probably don't have to pay AMT. But you might. We're not really sure. You should find out for yourself."
Gee, thanks TurboTax.

So, I think I've got you beat in the embarrassing department: when exercising, a "groove track" that takes me through a bunch of phases of my workout seems to work best for me.
Unfortunately, the mixes that work best for me are pretty hard to come by, so I've ended up having to make my own: http://www.sigkill.com/~preed/norcal-peek.mp3
(This is just a clip of a mix I did; they're usually about an hour long.)
