in Why Nerds are Unpopular on Paul Graham
Most likely, no one will read this comment, save perhaps the author. However, I shouldn't leave without saying thank you. Thank you for offering a different perspective. This is one of the best articles I've read in the past couple months (and I read a lot of articles).

in Every Man Needs a Man Mentor on Art of Manliness
What about an older woman mentor?
I suppose that doesn't qualify as a man mentor, but it does qualify as a mentor for a man. Having someone you can go to for advice from a female perspective can always be enriching. Hot girl-next-door mentors don't count.

in 2009/01/04/twitter-blog-design/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Wonderful post with interesting ideas. I set up a twitter feed directly on my home page on my blog. I like it a lot more than in the side bar. It's almost like my homepage is a twitter page now (or at least that's how I feel about it).
I'm going to add TweetThis shortly and ditch the ShareThis stuff. I've noticed the same thing about the way we're sharing posts now. I just didn't have the motivation to go all out and drop ShareThis. This post has put me over. I'm going to change it. The year of change is here. :>)
Oh, and I'm lovin' the twitip ID plugin. Gotta go get to work. Great post though.

in Advice for New Parents on Caffeinated Thoughts
So true and to the point. Thanks. I'm not a parent yet, but I have a brother who's 17 years younger than I am. For those who are wondering, the advice holds for new big brothers and sisters too. :>)

in 2008/12/11/how-to-get-the-most-out-of-stumbleupon/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
I'm only beginning to get into the friends part of Stumble. Until now, I've mainly used it just for the random stumble power. I haven't connected much with it. That alone, however, has kept me using it more than digg. I definitely need to encage more with others though through Stumble Upon.

"In relationship terms, I’m reaching out to shake your hand and you’re trying to put your tongue in my mouth."
As some have already said, great analogy. I'll remember that one.

in How to Write a Thank You Note | The Art of Manliness on Art of Manliness
I think posts like these are the reason we keep coming back to this site. Thank you for the reminder and instructions.
I agree with Jack in that I try to avoid starting with the "Thank you for..." intro. Otherwise, great post. I think the main point is simply to do it. As others have said, just sending one regardless of the content puts you way ahead of everyone else.
By the way, I actually have an Aunt Myrtle. :)

in Business Testing: How to Know if Your Business Idea is Viable Before You Quit Your Job on Finance Your Freedom
Great. This is the fundamental concern that we all have when starting out. Some of us are crazy enough to go for it without knowing, and some of us never quite go for it. I think knowing is a far better way to go though. :) Thanks.

heh... me too. I wish I had known this stuff before I took the leap. It would have saved me a lot of stress :-).

in In a Past Life, Social Media Turned Me Into a People Hater (But Now I Love People Again :-) on Finance Your Freedom
Great post on being real, as usual, Clay. I've felt the same way at times. It seems like social media can sometimes become just a free marketing tool. It can start to lose some of it's social value. Thanks for coming back. We need more 'social' social media people.

heh... I'm probably more of an anti-social social media person :-). I like people despite social media :-)

I came down here to harp on number 7: servanthood. If you get that right, you're got the rest. I see Mike King's beaten me to it. Great point Mike.

in My Liberation Story: Lisa Fyfe on Finance Your Freedom
I love how often the most difficult times in our lives, the real struggles, move us into some of the best changes. Having a family business go under is lousy, but it's amazing to see what that event spawned for you.

Thank you for sharing.

This is by far one of the best articles here. Thank you, Cory.
The story of a Holocaust survivor isn't that original (though it can still inspire me). The life lessons you presented aren't that original either. But putting them together somehow made for a fresh take on both. You've really struck at the core of motivation here, while introducing me to someone with a fascinating story.

in The 35 Greatest Speeches in History on Art of Manliness
The list is great, but more importantly for me, thank you for pointing me to the American Rhetoric site. That's amazing. I never thought to look for a site like that, though I enjoy live oratory. The link was the best part of your post for me.

in Is Patriotism Manly? on Art of Manliness
Yes, patriotism is manly. It's not blind. It's supporting something you believe in, instead of conforming to what others want. If you don't like it, change it. It’s possible to be a revolutionary patriot by changing what you don’t like about your country. Someone who’s not patriotic wouldn’t care about the country and wouldn’t bother to do anything about it.
