The other batteries are 1000 mAh or 1300 mAh, not 1770 mAh. That difference of 70% will make you smile. But thanks anyway, I edited the claim and added' 'the cheapest with this specs' I'm sure when I get some international wholesalers the price will drop. Ah, liability. This was for me the main reason to think hard about this adventure. But my lawyer assured me : the product output voltage/current is designed per Apple specification, it will not make damage to your iPhone/ iPod It has only one contact part with the iPhone/ iPod- the connector which is also specifically ordered from Apple's specified vendor (only one vendor, guess that's called monopoly). So there will be no concern for mechanical part either imho.

If there is solid evidence that our product damages your iPhone, I will cover the material cost for the repair. However, we will not be responsible for any mistake of not using our product properly or any damage caused by accident loss (like dropping to the ground, bended, etc.). The usual stuff I guess. Hope I took away some of your theoratical concerns .

Thanks,

Re: ORDER NEW MODEL NOW: 100% BOOST

Decision about that will be made in about three/four weeks.

Re: Smallest Of The Ars Technica Roundup

Dear Tanner,

You're so right. I edited the text above and added more details. The battery loads your iPhone and give’s it an extra, full life. If you normally can talk 6 hrs with your phone, now you can talk 12 hours. If you surf for 4 hours, you get another 4 hours. I prefer to use this comparison because claims like 'up to 50 hours extra power' are measured under extreme conditions: all features are off and the 3G radio has to have a great reception. That's not normal, is it?.

It doubles whatever you're doing with it. So if you usually only talk, you can talk twice. If you surf, you can surf again.

You can throw a 3G JUICE in your glove department (put it on OFF), forget it for a whole year and it will still give your iPhone or iPod another life. If you use a loaded battery later then year, you will loose some energy, just like your Duracells.

It's not a li-ion battery but a li-polymer, a next generation.

More info:
http://www.3gjuice.com/report3.pdf
Check also http://www.3gjuice.com/96/

Re: ORDER NEW MODEL NOW: 100% BOOST

No decison on white yet.. give me 3-4 weeks (see above)

Re: In Search For Power

Hi Joram,

We decided the 3G JUICE to be a charger of the iPhone battery. The next best smallest battery available (without cables) is only 1200 mAh. Ours has 50% more power. Be assured, the product output voltage/current is designed per Apple specification. It will not damage your iPhone/ iPod. It has only one contact part with the iPhone/ iPod- the connector which is also specifically ordered from Apple’s specified vendor (only one vendor). Is it a battery just attached to a 30 pins connector? No, there is also an integrated circuit built in to avoid power problems.

You can't charge both, can you explain me why you would like to do that?

Canada shipping is $12. See also:

http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/...

I consider the Kensington big and bulky: it has a connector that is big as the 3G JUICE AND has a plastic black box to power the connector...

I wrote before that I used clunkier batteries,see http://www.3gjuice.com/2008/07/11/who-is-behind...

Here's the text I mean:

I’m always in a quest for battery juice because I travel a lot. Yes, I’m that pathetic person that bought a heavy block of metal so I can work for 9 hours on my Macbook Air. For even smaller devices I bought the Philips Power 2 Go, a piece of plastic (PDF, 256 Kb) that kept my iPhone 1.1.4 alive.

I got tired of loosing cables and have stuff with me that's 5x heavier then the phone I use it for. So that's why I developed the 3G JUICE.

Re: The Waiting Game: Do You Like The 3GJUICE?

Yours is sent yesterday. It means that our backup battery can hold power for months if it is not used. If you don't use it for a full year, about 70% juice is still in it.

Re: Oh That Battery!

Dear Pierre,

The new batch will be finished in the 3th week of September. It's a new model. If you order now, you get it for the same price as the old model. The unit will look exactly the same as the current model, but inside we made a lot of change to boost the efficiency of the battery. Why didn't we come with this model in the first place? It's a product 2.0! You all came with good suggestions which we tried to implement in this model.

The real output needed for you iPhone is normally below 0.9A, so we thought in the first version that a 1A output current was fine. But in reality your iPhone or iPod sometimes wants 0.97A and in some rare cases even more then 1A. The new version has an brand new electronic circuit which is able to deliver 2A output current. Any peaks can easily be taken care of, resulting in a very, very cool battery. With some tweaking in the integrated circuits we managed to boost the efficiency of the battery too. In labtests we got 90% efficiency. Since we live in a real world, we tested it also during office hours, in cars, in planes and other places. The efficiency was still 85-90%. That is a industry record for such small battery.

Also we changed the alignment so you get a perfect horizontal phone and battery. A new integrated circuit will make your 3GJUICE under extreme conditions: -40 - +80 (Celsius). Smaller improvements: no glue used, better fitting cap, new strip, extra overload protection.

Re: ORDER NEW MODEL NOW: 100% BOOST

Dear Jae,

Thanks for your great input. For the first versions of the 3G JUICE we concentrated on power and stability and the beste energy capacity. We're almost done with that: the next version will be able to power a dead iPhone (0%) to 100% energy, has a energy efficiency of 85% (leave the battery in your glove department for months and it's still fresh) and has the best stability with 2A IC and not 1A IC as almost every other vendor has.

Phase 2 is to get a model with all kind of extra's, most of them described by you. Would love to see that mechanical clip, feel free to send a photo to support@3gjuice.com.

Re: 3G JUICE’s Finally Arrived

@Richard, it's a little thicker, check http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/... for exact sizes. One customer has very deep pockets and uses the 3GJUICE like you said.In general the 3GJUICE is designed to lay flat on a table, chair, desk, passenger chair or to be hold on your hand while you hold the phone.

I wouldn't recommend using any 30 pins device in a situation with a lot of movement...

Re: ORDER NEW MODEL NOW: 100% BOOST

Do you have a link to that hard case or a picture?

Re: ORDER NEW MODEL NOW: 100% BOOST

1. No. The only thing you will cover with the 3GJUICE are your energy needs, not your speaker :)
2. The 3GJUICE is a device that you only use for 2,5-3 hrs. After that, your iPhone is loaded for 100%, so you don't need it anymore. If you need to call exactly in those 2,5-3 hrs (with the 3G JUice attached), put your phone in your hand palm (as you would normally do). If you only hold the 3G JUICE, nothing bad will happen, but if you start running at the same time, it's like a candle on a plate. It will fall off.
3. We are Pro Merchant in Amazon. You will get the NEW version at the end of September. We'll dispatch it right from the stores of Amazon through Fedex.

Re: ORDER NEW MODEL NOW: 100% BOOST

Dear John,

Currently the first batch of the new version will be produced around September 23th. The best way to think of the 3GJUICE is that it's a temporarely device: just use it for 2,5-3 hours and your phone is 100%.

Henk

Re: THE NEW 3GJUICE 2.0: 100% in 3 hours!

Dear Gabriel,

First of all, thanks again for your purchase. The new version has different IC's and PCB's, resulting in an even better battery efficiency which means that the energy is still fresh after months. Also we changed the form factor slightly. And we tweaked some other things, like the cap that was in some cases a little too tight.

Basically, the old version powers the iPhone from about 20-30 to 100%, the new version goes from 0% to 100%. For people like you, the first customers, we're setting up a special discount for any new purchase.

Re: THE NEW 3GJUICE 2.0: 100% in 3 hours!

You can load an empty iPhone (dead phone, no battery icon visible yet) to 100% in three hours with 1 3GJUICE. That is what we promise. In most tests, we were able to squeeuze out 20-30% more, so 120-130%. This is the first cableless device for the iPhone 3G that does this. Others, from Solo or Kensington, are 50% less powerfull.

Re: In Search For Power

Yes, you can, through Amazon (rank 600 in all Electronics last night). Here is one more reason. For my multimedia students, I used VideoCue Pro to make some simple teasers. Last week we worked with both the Kodak and the Flip. The output of the HD Mino could be added in VideoCue Pro without conversion, Kodak had to be converted.. a big disadvantage.
