Dave, We just held an "unsummit" in Minneapolis — for all the reasons you mentioned. And our event was similar to what you described: decentralized, bountiful and very democratic. We weren't going to have another unsummit until next year (when the local online marketing association has its Summit), so perhaps you'd want to borrow the domain for your own unsummit?
I am going to Peru in June and plan on doing some work with my U.S. clients via Skype. Do you know if it a problem at most Internet Cafes to plug in your own laptop? I was thinking that it would be preferable to using one of their machines and having to download Skype each time.
