Face facts about Daily Kos:

If you say something that makes posters over there uncomfortable, you get banned. I don't care what Kos says about inclusion, it's basically inclusion on his rules. I should know; I kept a diary there for over a year, and when you bring up racism or sexism, if they don't agree with you, you get flamed and troll-rated.

Until Kos started hating on Harold Ford's Senate Campaign (and Harold, personally)those who were familiar with Mr. Ford and his basic a-holery, were trying to warn Kos posters that the boy would turn on them as soon as he got the Senate seat. There were some white posters in that bunch trying to warn all of America not to fall in love with Ford.

They got flamed to hell and back. Only when Kos ripped Harold a new one for his comments on the gay marriage amendment in New Jersey, did the blogsphere on DKos turn on Harold.

Real Kool-Aid Drinkers over at DKos, and what makes it bad is that they're trying to pass themselves off as progressives or liberals, or both.

I'm sorry, but if Kos is a true supporter of freedom of speech and sharing of ideas, even if you disagree with them, dissent is the true concept of democracy. Trying to stifle someone's voice because of their comments is doing exactly what Bush and the media has done for the last seven years. And Black Bloggers should not enable Kos, either, because that attempt to stifle other voices because they don't sing your tune, is what Kos is doing.

There is always the danger of becoming what we most despise. Kos has gone Hollywood, and is fast becoming what he most despises. I saw that when he flip-flopped on his support of Ned Lamont against Lieberman, and his support of Paul Hackett until Sherrod Brown threw his hat into the Senate ring, and Chuck Schumer and Rahm Emmanuel told Hackett to STHU and sit down.

Hackett didn't go quietly, and Kos was among the ones telling Hackett to drink that can of STHU, and then insulted his readers by saying he'd always supported Sherrod Brown.

Until a poster dug up one of Kos' own posts verbally supporting Paul Hackett.

I think that blogger got banned, too.

Before trying to court favor with Kos, we who are African-American bloggers should know what that really means, and that may mean keeping silent on the truth regarding African-Americans when you know damn well you should be shouting the truth.

He tore his behind with many of those members you listed, and if he does get an inroads, it will be with someone who can most likely demand he get them on the ML board when their time is up on the Hill.

Four things:

(1) NAACP needs to get off the corporate teat to be relevant on issues of social justice.

(2) Some people don't want to do anything that's going to facilitate accountability on their ass. Having to actually work and tell the public and dues-paying members what they're doing with the money scares some people who want the title of "Board Member" but don't want to do the work that goes with the job title.

(3) Time to retire some of the board members to "emeritus" status, while someone else can come in and get the job done.

(4) Is it more than coincidence that both Gordon and Mfume stepped down because they clashed with Julian Bond? Just a thought.

Someone in the CBC is taking and cashing a check with Rupert Murdoch's name on it to drink a can of STHU on Katrina.

Cynthia McKinney was the only member of the CBC raising hell about Katrina victims, and all her CBC kin slung her under the bus for defending herself against a racist Capitol Hill police officer who should have known who she was when she entered the building.

They did that at Nancy Pelosi's bidding, too.

As a member of CBC Monitor, we will be all over the CBC like a fly on stink. Now that many of them run congressional committees, I'm proposing to write a letter to whomever chairs the committee that would be dealing with Katrina victims and place this tidbit in front of them. We will be asking the following questions:

(1) Will there be hearings about the 854 million dollars in aid that wasn't claimed and why wasn't it claimed?

(2) Is there legislation dealing with Katrina victims' recovery? Where is it- what is the status of it being introduced on the floor? What happened to the McKinney effort on this bill?

(3) Who's idea was it to partner with a television organization that has a known and recorded history of being biased in their news reporting towards people of color, especially black people? Why?

Rikyrah hit the nail on the head about being single, Black and educated females looking for the brothas. In my case, I'm in my forties, an educated, single sista with a career that pays well, and when I was in my thirties, my police officer boyfriend threw me over for a crackhead. He was an educated, military vet brother who went to work for Oakland PD.

It's crap like that that forces sistas to look elsewhere. My attitude now is I will love whomever God sends me and the package he comes in, cause people are going to choose who they want, but it must always be for the right reasons, and not PC ones.

I knew from Steve's "take no prisoners" posts that he was a brotha. But what I remember most is that one of my posts that he gave front page status on it, and continued to check my own blog for posts that he would use for his blog.

To me, that gave me props as a blogger, being recognized by a star in the blogsphere like Steve Gilliard.

The irony of it all was that the weekend in February that he got sick, I was going to have dinner with him and his partner, Jen. I'm going to always regret that I didn't get to meet him personally, but thanks to email and blogs, I already felt that I knew him, had his friendship, and now, he's gone too soon.

Jefferson has scored consistently in the Derelict category since we started publishing the report card in 2005. He has been consistently derelict in representation of his New Orleans district, and while his overcoming against all odds are certainly mitigating factors if his indictments were less than bribery, his voting record indicates he is exactly as Daryl has described him: a grifter and a hustler.

You would think having a Harvard Law degree would have opened the doors for him to really do good. A GOTV effort only ensured his re-election and nothing more.

At first I was amused.

But as a sista who thought about this video, all I can think of is the veiled insult that was sent to Michelle Obama, the message basically saying, "I can take your man, there's nothing you can do about it, because as a white woman, I have that privilage."

If they did a similar video about John Edwards, I wouldn't have to make such a comment, but because we're so polarized in this country, and since it's woefully obvious Obama, triangulating twit or not, is such a dang threat, someone had to knock this brother and his woman back into their places, and let them know, by scaring up the "white devils" who vote, that Harold Ford, Sr., always talked about, Senator and Mrs. Obama's place is not the WHITE HOUSE.

Yeah, we are in the 21st Century. But thanks to those with subliminal Jim Crowism, they are doing their best to keep us stuck in the time prior to Plessy V. Ferguson.

The Harold Ford video had more effect because he's a single man, and it was well-known he preferred milk than bubbling brown sugar, plus it was in Tennessee, of all places. He allowed himself to be set up big time for Corker to go after him and play the race card to scare enough whites, or piss off enough African-Americans to either cast their vote for Corker, or stay the hell home on Voting Day.

It's a high insult because Obama's married, with daughters, and what the hell are they supposed to think; that Daddy's a playa, now?

I think we might need to raise as much hell as we did with that CBC/Fox Noise mess.

Either that, or Michelle Obama needs to go southside Chicago on that skank in the video. You should have heard how Alex Witt of MSNBC was talking about how "adorable" this chick was in interviewing her.

Dang, I think the Keystone Kops are running both Edwards' and Obama's campaigns.

Especially Obama's. First he has a legal counsel writing op-ed pieces supporting a pardon for Scooter Libby. That guy should have been fired the same day the op-ed piece ran, because it's now being spun that Obama supports a pardon for Scooter Libby. Even if he doesn't, his campaign lawyer has tied him to the whole scandal.

Then the "my Space" episode that still has the blogsphere pissed.

Dissing his pastor (retracted but confirmed he dissed his pastor) at his announcement of his candidacy.

And then we have Edwards acting like Malibu Barbie.

His $400 haircut is making him look like a rich white guy that is out of touch with the poverty platform on which he's campaigning.

The code-speak speech is not helping him with people of color, but maybe he's thinking he doesn't need us to win. Ok, then.

Let's get something straight:

Obama made a decision that blew up in his face. Now he's taking some steps to rectify that, but the bigger issue is "I wonder if John Aravosis will get on his high horse on issues pertaining to race, gender, xenophobia and anything else like he laid into Obama on this issue?"

To John's credit, his own readers took him to task and told him he shouldn't engage in the same types of responses and outrage like Republicans against Democrats because then he's no better than them.

Additionally, one of his readers pointed out that Hillary has wife beaters endorsing her and nary a peep from John himself. He manned up and corrected it.

If we really want to get concerned about Obama's candidacy, not to say that the LGBT issue isn't of great importance (because it is), but the bigger picture here is how many of these goofs and gaffes Obama's going to make in his campaign before it limps to certain death?

This is truly painful to watch, and I'm not an Obama supporter in the first place.

And I agree with Rikyrah - if Obama had gone with Kirk Franklin, someone would be sure to bring up that brotha's struggle with porn.

Hillary = another DLCer in the White House. Like you, Jack, I'm not buying - even if she wins the primary, for the first time in my voting life, I might have to write in my own candidate rather than vore for the Borg Queen.

If you thought The Borg Queen would be above getting down in slime to get the White House, I've a couple of bridges here in DC to sell you. What she's thinking is that she can have her own version of Karl Rove pull a move like he did against John McCain back in 2000 - then ask his forgiveness and all is well in the party.

She forgets that Black people do not forget when we HAVE BEEN DOGGED. I trust Obama to be enough brotha to tell her to bug off if she succeeds in getting the nomination; like Rikyrah and you have both said - she will need Black people at the polls to win.

I'm remembering when Bill dissed Jesse for VP and went with Al Gore. Blacks were pissed at the Big Dog, until he persuaded Jesse to come tell Black people to get behind him instead of Bush, SR. I'm like Rikyrah - screw scaring me with another threat of GOP getting the White House - at this point, it wouldn't make much difference, considering how Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi continue to give away the store.

We already know that the CBC slept on the job regarding this incident. The man probably is a constituent of either Greg Meeks, Yvette Clarke, Ed Townes or Charlie Rangel.

And we also know that we'll hear crickets chirping at this man being railroaded by a nearly all-white jury; this is shades of what Randal Miller-El fought all the way to the Supreme Court and won in an 8-1 decision about how Dallas County DAs were rigging juries by placing as many white boys and girls on the jury as they could seat - which was a prime motivation to imprison as many Black defendants as they could, regardless of the evidence.

This country better get ready for revolution up in this bitch, because the young people aren't going to stand for it. Book it.

And with my old behind, I'll be fighting right along with them - starting with asking where the hell the CBC has been on issues like this, since they're screaming they can do something about them.

Here's a hint: no Congressional Black Caucus person scored above 80% this session. NO ONE! NOT EVEN THE USUAL GOOD PERFORMERS - HONOR SOCIETY Members!

Champagne Charlie Rangel led this downward slide, and all of the Handkerchief Head Negroes who got their cheering for the Borg Queen drowned out by Obama supporters, have all but flunked the grading on the Report Card this session.

We evaluated them on two funding bills for the war, ENDA, the Hate Crimes Study Bill (think Cointelpro shyt), Katrina Recovery Bills, etc. And many of the CBC didn't represent their constituents' best interests, and if you're alert, let them know that there's gonna be some 'splainin' required about how they had the time to be a Handkerchief Head for Hillary, but be DERELECT in their jobs as lawmakers???

Suzanne Malveaux needs to lose her job; she did a piss-poor job of assisting moderating the debate. Wolf Blitzer could have stopped that bitch fest between Obama and Clinton, but he was doing must-see-TV, handing off softball questions to Hillary, while getting Malveux to grill Obama like he was filet mignon.

Despite the cheering of House Negroes for Hillary (aka the Congressional Black Caucus), I got the sense most of South Carolinians were tired of Hillary by the evening's end, and cheering was more for Edwards and Obama. She pissed off Black people in South Carolina - that caucus is Obama's to lose.

I heard a Democratic consultant on Anderson Cooper say last night that if the popular vote went for Obama, but Clinton takes it because of those superdelgates, there will be a revolt that will literally kill the Democratic Party, and he's right.

I just wish the media would quit givin airtime to handkerchief heads like Amy Holmes...cause she's a house Negress to the nth degree.

Hillary's determination to get the nomination at all costs will finally tear the wool off everyone's eyes and teach them that no friendship or acquaintance is sacred - you will get slung under the bus if you get in their way. Never mind that her determination keeps the White House in ReThug hands for another eight years - she will never think of what's good for the party - her own husband created the DLC, which shows us as far back as 1985, the Clintons were all about the Clintons. They just did a good job of keeping it covered up.

But Hillary's losing streak is exposing the ugliness that is their makeup and nothing will change that if she keeps it up.

Since I'm the chief reseearcher that does the leg work for CBC Monitor, I take exception to your remark that we use some speculation in holding CBC members accountable to their constituencies.

Where is the speculation in their voting records, which is what we use when we grade their legislative performance?

It is precisely because we based our assessments of their performance on how they voted on legislation that should be beneficial to their communities, that we publish that information to,in many instances, an unsuspecting public, just how their elected official, who is their VOICE on the Hill, is representing their interests.

We don't have time to speculate about what is directly in front of our very eyes. People didn't just wake up to Al Wynn being a corporate lackey and a piss-poor congressman because we speculated about his legislative performance.

It's because we did the research and provided the evidence to prove our pronouncement. No more and no less.

And remember, Bruce and Glen have dealt with Obama on a personal level, so anything they write about him is not speculation or hateration; they go on the evidence they find and draw conclusions from where that evidence takes them. They adhhere to the highest stardards of journalistic ethics, which they have taught to me as well.

No problem, but I think I understand where Bruce's and Glen's positions are coming from.

They worked with the man.

And, at one point, until then-Black Commentator called out Obama on his DLC ties, he was pretty content to be listed as one of their "100 Top Elected Officials to Watch", and he did nothing about removing himself from the list until Glen and Bruce pointed it out to him.

While we don't grade Obama, we do review his voting record; at this point, until some more brothas show up in the Senate, or until we find a methodology upon which to evaluate him along with his CBC bretheren, we just keep track of his legislative performance since he got to DC.

I'm for holding this brotha accountable, to US and to the Americans he'll be representing in the White House, if he gets the job. He needs to realize that having the label of "First Black President" comes with tremendous responsibility, and very little margin for error, cause YOU KNOW that we, as African-Americans, are ALWAYS evaluated on a different set of standards than Bill Clinton or his wife will ever be. I can't speak for Bruce or Glen, but I think I'm safe in saying if this brotha f---s up the office of POTUS, race perspectives in this country will be reversed back to pre-Jim Crow and since I didn't live in that time period (but my parents and grandparents did and their stories weren't pretty), I don't that's a place any of us want to return to.

So, there's attempts to impress this upon Obama, and demanding accountability from him does not mean any of us at BAR or CBC Monitor are hating on him. Our work has served our public well - the CBC has their diapers in a bunch because Al Wynn got sent packing and BAR had a lot to do with it, plus in the form of Donna Edwards, we had a viable candidate to challenge him.

And we're looking forward, with your help, to targeting others in the CBC who think they get to stay in the club by virtue of skin color and nothing more.

Glad we could clear the air.

This may also explain why Huckabee's still in the race; to pick up the pieces if McCain implodes.

And Romney has only "suspended" his campaign - even though he's officially endorsed McCain, he's never said he's dropping out of the race, and cut off his chances to get back in it like Rudy and Fred Thompson have done.

If it distracts us from the Borg Queen's meltdown and attacks on Obama, it might be worth it. Of course, I keep my eye on the Borg Queen at all costs, cause that heifer plans on stealing the nomination from Obama and doesn't care if she destroys the Democratic Party in the process.

The whole McCain issue just might be a distraction from the Borg Queen's antics, as well as get McCain out of the race...again.

As an individual who has worked in the field of Affirmative Action, EEO, Civil Rights and Diversity for over 20 years, please send this brick-stupid mofo to me so I can take him to school.

You do a statistical breakdown of the beneficiaries of affirmative action and it lines up like this:

1. White Women

2. Asians (male or female - considered the "model" minority as well as docile)

3. Sistas (Black and Latino tie)

4. White Men (no such thing as "reverse discrimination" - if someone gains advantages or selection because of biological factors they have no control over, it's discrimination)

5. Brothas (Black and Latino tie again)

6. National/Religious Origin

So, from where I sit, this Uncle Ruckus needs to either talk to me or drink a glass of STHU. He sounds like Ward Connerly's twin brother.

What you see in the Democratic Campaign is a white woman who believes she was entitled, privaleged, and yea, being a WOMAN; well, we were supposed to roll over and allow her to be the pre-supposed nominee.

That's what Affirmative Action taught her. She gets my respect when she can tell war stories that women who became lawyers back in the early 50s, like Ginsburg and O'Connor, and couldn't buy a job in a law firm unless they were going to be the office file clerk. Even paralegals were men back then.

Obama's not an Affirmative Action candidate - tell this Stepin' Fetchit to put up or shut up with the evidence that he is. This is another moron who THINKS he knows what affirmative action is, and is as far away from the truth as we are from the moon.

Some people seem to think that Sheila Jackson-Lee is in a safe Congressional district.

I think she, and Stephanie should get a primary challenger in 2010, especially while they sling members like Cynthia McKinney under the bus; dissing Donna Edwards before she even sets foot on Capitol Hill, while toting Missy's water and telling us to STHU about it, get back on that plantation and vote for Miz Hillary.

Sharpton reminded while he's not on Obama's bandwagon, he's not deaf to the racial baiting engaged by the Clinton campaign. To change the rules on the delegates after they broke them demonstrates this heifer wants the nomination, no matter what the voters say and I think, because Sharpton has no dog in the race, he's free to really make it uncomfortable for the Borg Queen.

After twenty years of this country being run by someone named Bush or Clinton, it's time for them to go, and I resent the assumption that Hillary was going to get the nomination by virtue of being married to Bill.

If anything, that might be the one factor that takes her down in the whole thing until 2012.

Jack, thanks for the props and for the support. Thank you for letting people know that we can agree to disagree, and yet still be united for the common goal and that is the uplift of our people.

I have a secret - but Bruce and Glen know this because I told them.

I live in Virginia (Northern VA to be precise) and given the choice of the Borg Queen or Obama, I pulled that lever for Obama, but not for the reasons one would think.

Obama still has to explain himself on many issues, and at the time I voted for him, he has yet to do that. But the antics of the Clinton campaign opened my eyes even wider than Bruce and Glen did with their commentary at BAR and BC.

They pointed out all of the foibles of the Clinton Administration, including some I experienced myself as a government employee.

Affirmative Action - "mend it, don't end it" gave birth to Ward Connerly, Shelby Steele, Larry Elder, Star Parker, Angela McGowan and Amy Holmes. All benefitted from it.

All were quite willing to slam the door on everyone else. For Clinton, it was a means to an end run around the GOP controlled Congress and slinging people of color under the bus for profit and preservation - there were several attacks on affirmative action that would have stood court challenges but the Clinton administration ordered all of the Justice Department to stand down when the challenges came, most notably in my home state of California, where Connerly did the most damage.

Proposition 209 should have been challenged in the Supreme Court as a violation of the 13th and 14th Amendments of the Constitution. Janet Reno argued for that challenge, and Clinton threatened to fire her in response.

Think about that. Not to mention that the prison industrial complex quadrupled on his watch, and to see Sheila Jackson-Lee trying to tout her sorry piece of legislation (and I say sorry because Maxine Waters and Cynthia McKinney, along with Danny Davis and Bobby Scott, all introduced similar measures and couldn't get the rest of the Caucus to fall in line to support their measures), gave me indigestion.

Clinton tried to capitalize on her husband's "accomplishment" but she knows if she'd been anywhere else, we'd questioned her up the yang about that.

As I said, if it came down to Clinton or Obama on the issues, they both make me wish John Edwards or Dennis Kucinich were still in the race, or better yet, I wish Gore would throw his hat in, because he's away from Clinton and he's grown a spine - not to mention the Clintons slung him under the bus to make way for Hillary and a de facto third term.

Her sense of entitlement and the race baiting turned me to Obama, but that does not mean he will ever get a free pass from me, especially since Bruce and Glen are my mentors as well as my big brother/father figures who have no truck with giving Obama any slack. They tried it, and as far as they're concerned, we need to be willing to hold him to the same standard, if not a higher one, because getting him in POTUS may make white people think they're eradicating historical guilt, but the proof will be in the pudding.

I have confidence that Michelle will be for him what Bobby Kennedy was for JFK. JFK wanted to forget all about Civil Rights once he got the White House - Bobby stayed on his ass to remind him he made a promise to Black people who did vote for him that he would enact civil rights legislation. Although Kennedy didn't get to see that part of his legacy passed, cause Johnson actually put things into action, the Civil Rights legislation would have never gotten where it did without Bobby Kennedy, and I envision Michelle Obama having the same kind, if not more powerful influence to keep Obama grounded.

She need look no further than what happened to girlfriend who challenged Deval Patrick for the state House in Massachusetts and the Patriots saw right through her and elected Patrick in a landslide.

I'm thinking the states she won in the primaries were as a result of early voting and not seeing her for what she was until after she had their votes in her back pocket.

My brother lives in LA - he said that the majority, including Latinos, went for Obama; and the ones who didn't were the ones who voted early and got Buyer's Remorse.

We want a woman POTUS at some point. Just not Hillary. I can think of too many other women who are more qualified, starting with my home Senator, Barbara Boxer.

We vilify them because as a result of those accomplishments, they should know better than to use those accomplishments to lie this country into a war, facilitate tax cuts for the wealthy and engage in a "fly in the buttermilk" mentality where they enjoy being the only "Black" anything, while accomplishing nothing and setting back the overall achievements of the African-American race because they have marketed themselves to people like George Bush as the "safe" Negro to which he can point out when deflecting charges of bigotry and racism.

We vilify these individuals because they, most of all, know how much hell African-Americans have caught in this country for over 400 years; stolen from our native land, stripped of our culture and forced to develop another one, and being generally hated and considered inferior because we are born into our ethnicity.

They know it and choose to ignore that knowledge in a bid for personal gain at the expense of the masses as well as continued suppresion of our race.

That is why they are vilified.

Dumping ballots out in Cali is the way to go. It's the only explanation why Obama didn't win there.

In 1988, LA Mayor Tom Bradley was running for Governor against George Deukmajian, and lost by 50K votes.

He demanded and got a recount. Still declared Deukmajian the winner by 50K votes.

Six months after Deukmajian takes office, some boxes came floating up in the San Francisco Bay. Upon inspection, it was discovered that they were ballots from the Gubernatoral election. They were uncounted and there were about 100K uncounted ballots. 75% of the uncounted ballots were cast for Tom Bradley.

If those ballots make it to the precinct, California would have been the first state to have a Black Governor.

Anything's possible, and I wouldn't put it past the Borg Queen with her scorched earth campaign politics.

As for the CBC members supporting Clinton, and in essence, supporting a return to de facto segregation and disenfranchisement of the Black vote, they ALL NEED PRIMARY CHALLENGERS BY 2010. Period. Time to clean house.

And the way they have received Donna Edwards is so appalling, I hope she doesn't join the caucus at all. Why waste her time with these numbnuts who can't get off the Clinton bus before she slings them under it once she achieves her goal?

Kos himself is a reformed Republican, but I would trust Charles Barkley's reformation before I'd trust Kos.

He did do a service by calling out Harold Ford Jr. on Meet the Press and ended it with Ford begging to come to YearlyKos this year, where he knows he will be as welcomed as a whore in a convention of Priests.

I give Kos props for that and for calling out the Borg Queen. But his commenters flame anyone who does not agree with them. Case in point - you qualified your statement by saying it was metamorphical, and they blew right past your qualifying statement to flame you anyway.

They want to sing "Kuubaayah" but don't want to get their hands dirty to get to where you can sing the song.

Nita, I saw Olbermann walking a bit of a tightrope there, with the comments referring to who's running her campaign.

Though I don't think he would get a howl from us if he'd gone ahead and called out "Mammy" Maggie Williams for how she's running the Clinton campaign. She was brought in to replace a Latina, Patti Solis Doyle, when Clinton started losing.

I have to say this, as an African-American female, Solis Doyle ran a much more respectable campaign than Maggie Williams. This entire mess can now be laid at Maggie Williams' feet. She's giving the go-ahead nods to all of the surrogates speaking, including Geraldine Ferraro. What is surprising people is that fact this old hag has been a closeted racist all her life, and her keeping her yap shut about it for so long is now spilling over.

The Borg Queen gets to sling two sistas of color under the bus for the ruination of her campaign; Solis Doyle, because under her management, Clinton lost 12 straight contests; and Maggie Williams, whose failure to rein in all the closted bigots in the Clinton camp.

Overall, Olbermann nailed it with his comments, but I understand that minefield he had to go through when discussing the people in the Clinton camp. He also may have not wanted to give Hillary any ammunition if he mentions Maggie Williams, because the Borg Queen would spin it and complain about media coverage, and slinging an allegation about bigotry at Olbermann for calling out Maggie Williams, a sista.

Where's Tubbs Jones and Sheila Jackson-Lee now? ((crickets chirping))

And y'all know John Lewis has to be sitting down with his morning cup of coffee and thanking Jesus for seeing the light and getting the hell off of Plantation Clinton before all of this blew up. Where' Emmanuel Lewis and the rest of the CBC supporting Hillary going to go now?

What do Traci Blunt and Minyon Moore have to say? This woman is racist and she surrounds herself with equally bigoted people. As a Black woman, the first shot Bill Shaheen fired about Obama being a drug dealer would have been enough for me to say "I quit. Even if I don't support Obama, the fact your minions is saying things with racial overtone about him indicates you feel the same way about me and mine. So, if I can't sit at your table, I damned sure don't want your scraps."

This was more than a dumb comment. This was a racist comment. And it's representative of how the Clintons feel about Obama. It fits right in line with Hillary's condescending attitude.

I go one better: the Clinton's comments about Obama are indicative of how they feel about Black People overall.

We're convenient to them in getting their agenda accomplished. They sling us under the bus when we get in their way (see Lani Guinier and Joycelyn Elders).

Rhonda, what's really getting their goats is the fact that Obama hasn't injected racism or sexism into this debate.

Hillary's done that and more, and it's blowing up in her face. That's what happens to someone who feels "entitled" to POTUS.

I want to know what the CBC members who support Hillary are going to do now? The reception Sheila Jackson-Lee and Stephanie Tubbs-Jones got at Tavis Smiley's State of the Black Union was crickets chirping, and giving the platform to Hillary to basically say "My husband did a lot for you ungrateful Negroes" speech really jacked everyone up, especially when Al Sharpton called them out for supporting Hillary's attempts to change the rules with the delegates in Ohio and Michigan.

I'm suffering from battle fatigue and it's not even mine - it's Obama's, but I feel like it's mine because Hillary Clinton attacked the entire Black community in America, and doesn't care if she eviscerates everything, including the Democratic party, because she can't get her way.

Do we really want someone like this in the White House, with her finger on the chicken switch, dealing in foreign policy matters?

Someone on another blog was saying he wanted to see Hillary steal the nomination, so she would be forced to crawl into Black communities and crawl to Black "leaders" to beg for our vote. Jim Clyburn tried to warn Clinton back before South Carolina and told her to dial her rhetoric back a notch, but because he, too, is a brotha, his advice was dismissed.

And now, to her detriment. It's not about just Black people, either, Latinos and Asians had better get a clue, too, because when they get through with Blacks, you're next on their list to be subdued and discriminated against.

If she does it to us, she will do it to YOU. Don't think because you're of brown or yellow descent, you're exempt from racism...

I think Obama needs to state his position on his pastor's comments, and if pressed, he can clarify his position, because he already got slammed by us earlier for tossing his pastor under the bus when he announced his candidacy.

It was the initial reason why Blacks were cool on his candidacy, as sort of a "What kind of Negro would diss his own pastor by disinviting him to his Announcement for POTUS?"

I know, because the loudest yelling anyone heard about that was from ME.

That also gave Tavis his entree into straight hateration of Obama, and it also indicated that whomever was running Obama's campaign at that time, was not in touch with the demographics he had to reach.

His statement of "There is no Black America" is still giving me gas.

Having said that, I think for Obama to sling his pastor under the bus would send the message that he's even willing to forsake GOD if it gets him the White House.

There's ways he can disagree with his pastor without throwing him under the juggernaut being driven by Sean Hannity, and carrying the passengers of HuffPo and Josh Marshall's crew. If he's smart, he needs to find it.

I don't like the double standard coming here, either. Mitt Romney wasn't asked to sling members of the LDS under the bus; nor was Grandpa Fred, or Mike Huckabee. In fact, Huckabee got a lot of traction with his dominionist theories of running the government had he got POTUS.

If they weren't made to denounce their religious beliefs or sling their buddies like Rod Parsley, John Hagee or Eddie Long under the religious bus, Obama shouldn't be required to do it,either.

Now that it's really looking like Obama may win this thing, people are starting to LOOK FOR REASONS NOT TO VOTE FOR HIM IN THE GENERAL.

Even if it means McCain gets the White House. That's just how embedded and entrenched racism and bigotry is in America.

Shoot, the U. N. just released a report on a global scale that indicates the United States is failing in how it treats Native Americans, African-American and Latinos in this country:

To which, this has to be the first book I've read where the author wants us to think about the House Negro in a different context, and I'm finding myself shouting, "Get the Cheney out of here!" as I'm reading. Startled a guy sitting next to me on the Blue Line this morning, too.

Shoot, if you watched Tavis' minstrel show back in February, former Lt. Gov Mike Steele basically dissed his party for failing to show up at Morgan State and talk about how they would have included Blacks in their visions for President.

Additionally, the other tidbit that's being ignored is that the private contractors who employed the snoops in the State Department, is a company out of Little Rock, Arkansas, and were big donors to the Clinton machine when the Big Dog was Governor, and this company, Sterling or Stanley Associates, were often contracted by the Governor or the State Government, to dig up information on their opponents that could be used to damage them in a campaign.

I don't know about you, but my government law book tells me that when you make a statement like that regarding a sitting and current POTUS, the Secret Service should be knocking on your door and waiting outside with the silver braclets to take you to the grey-bar hotel because you physically threatened the life of the POTUS, which is a Federal offense, punishable up to 25-to-life in the joint, and the death penalty if successful.

The MSM gave Helms a free pass.

Obama's getting death threats; even as a U. S. Senator, I'm wondering if there's a law that prohibits threatening elected officials the same way there would be for the President.

I'm just saying - the ilk of the ReThugs in the MSM are scared to death at the thought of having to defer to a "President Obama". Fake News knows they have torn their asses with Obama - no access to the White House for at least four years, and if caught making stuff up, he can have them pulled off the air through the new commissioners he'll appoint over at the FCC.

Her plan is to screw up Obama, no matter what the outcome. She wants him so wounded from the primary, he will do a half-assed job in the general and McCain slides right in.

The fix is in - she has to manuever a way towards her goal. She wants to set herself up for a run in 2012 if she doesn't get it NOW.

She does not CARE if she destroys the Democratic Party.

She does not CARE if she damages Obama, a fellow Democrat.

She wants to force Obama to spend money that he could be using in the General against McCain, thereby further crippling him.

She does not CARE; she wants that nomination at all costs, by any means necessary, and everyone else be damned.

There should be another petition demanding Howard Dean and the Party elders get off their collective horses' rear ends and have a sit down with Hillary and give her a choice; either resign with dignity or get forced out of the Party in ignomy (shame).

Should she chose the latter, New York needs to pass a resolution and initiate a recall election of Hillary, and replace her with a Senator that will be represent New York and not be some carpet bagger who moved there solely for political purposes.

She's poisoning the Democractic Party, and the only reason I can think of why Howard Dean hasn't pulled the trigger on her is that the Democrats don't want Obama as the nominee; but they also know they risk evisceration of the entire Democratic Party if they pull the superdelegate mess.

One more thing - the silence of the Congressional Black Caucus is loud to the point of being deafening - and it's also a call to action for us to recruit, develop, train and field candidates to give all of them, save for Jesse Jackson, Jr., and the other half who hasn't endorsed anyone, primary challenges in 2010.

Stephanie Tubbs-Jones - needs a primary challenger.

Sheila Jackson-Lee - needs a primary challenger.

John Lewis - has a primary challenger.

Maxine Waters - hiccup or bump in the road of usual good deeds?

Al Wynn - defeated and replaced in the primary by Donna Edwards. Tried to save himself by endorsing Obama in the end.

Emmanuel Cleaver - needs a primary challenger.

The rest need primary challengers because they could band together as a caucus and help put an end of Hillary's scorching of the Party by demanding she stand down, and that Bill will no longer be welcomed in Black Communities if she keeps this up.

The CBC needs a house-cleaning through primary challengers. Either they will straighten up and fly right, or get swept out with the trash. It's their call, but our call to action is to force it.

I'm going to jump in here and say that when the media attacks bloggers such as us and Skeptical Brotha, and allow DLC-bots like Emmanuel Cleaver and Kendrick Meek to frame issues without context, they have declared war on us.

The Congressional Black Caucus wants to use this issue to not only discredit the Black Blogsphere, but also people doing the work to hold their behinds accountable to the constituencies that voted for them. It's not about supporting Obama - because of the Jeremiah Wright flap and Obama's handling of it, I can't say I'm supporting him, but Hillary Clinton is sure as hell not getting my vote.

The CBC is saying they don't want to be held accountable; yet we should continue to support them and give them free passes because they are Black members of Congress. The same concept they are now trying to fight because half of them support Hillary Clinton. That's some sick crap and they need to know that we're not backing down from them.

Now Color of Change has done good work and maybe pressuring Black superdelegates to throw their support to Obama in light of Hillary donning a hood and robe - good in purist theory; not so good for the overall purpose of electing and implementing a progressive government that is of the people, for the people and by the people. Maybe a different tactic needed to be used here; I don't know, and I don't want to be critical of their actions, because it's their right to engage in activism that will result in what's best for the communities they serve.

However, I do agree with them that the CBC is being arrogant in ignoring, if not at least, listening to the voices of the people they purport to represent, and for that, it should cost them, because the next issue won't be Barack Obama, but something like the Bankruptcy Bill, school vouchers, increasing funding to the military and the prison industry complext, which does nothing but incarcerate more of US. The CBC has already demonstrated an inherent willingness to take small amounts of money to sell out for personal gain and presumed fortune.

Sorry for the rant, but I feel the CBC has declared war on Black Bloggers because we've been calling them out on their dereliction of duty to us and they need to be remind who they work for.

They work for US, the taxpaying Americans who elected them. If they don't want to do what we ask, on most jobs, it's called "being fired". Now, if they want to get fired like their buddy Al Wynn, they can step right up into primary challenges, either this year or 2010. I'm sick of these attempts to silence us when silence IS NOT GOLDEN.

You don't visit here much, do you? Because if you did, you would know and understand that we at JJP do not engage or support Black politicos because they are Black. A candidate's race or gender SHOULD NEVER BE THE SOLE REASON TO GIVE THEM YOUR VOTE. Get that straight, if Hillary was talking the deal we wanted to hear, we'd be supporting her against Obama. It's not like it hasn't happened.

That Clinton Attacks Obama wikipedia blog was started because the Clintons put out a pattern that facilitates racial discrimination.

No one wanted to be crying "racism" without having evidence. There was a pattern of race-baiting being introduced and facilitated by the Clintons themselves; a pattern so blatant even white progressives like Keith Olbermann and even a wingbot like Chris Wallace over on Fox News, called out their own peers over it.

So, where does JJP engage in race-baiting politics when the Clintons themselves introduced the concept in the campaign and we decided to keep track of the so-called "coincidences", "Misspeaks" and "out of context" statements that were happening too frequently to be considered "coincidental".

That many "coincidences" leads to a pattern which usually adds up to either bigotry or discrimination.

My career is in EEO/Civil Rights/Diversity/Affirmative Action, sir/madam. The U. S. Government sent me to school and trained me how to identify and prove episodes of race, gender discrimination and bigotry by first learning how to identify a pattern of behavior.

Everything you cited as an example of what you believe JJP engaging in race politics merely reinforced the suspicion that the Clintons were trying to play on the fears and bigotry of America by trying to recreate Obama as the Scary Black Man in order to win this election and the nomination because they believe they're entitled to it.

You call it race baiting; we call it a pattern of bigotry and discrimination.

BTW, if you're a Hillary supporter, or worse, a McCain supporter, I wish you'd come forth and say so and stop arguing with us here. In 1968, I was in first or second grade. I remember when my father came home from work, turned on the news to be greeted with the announcement of Dr. King's assassination.

I remember my father, who never cursed in front of his baby girl, turn the air blue with his words, so much so to the point, my mother ran into the room and said, "Burdett, calm down, you'll scare baby girl sitting there."

I was a Daddy's girl and I would always sit on his lap while he watched TV after a hard day's work as a crane operator. But I saw something else in his eyes, for the first time.

Anger and the death of hope. While he didn't consider Dr. King the savior (you should have heard him rail at his preacher cousins who would turned King away from their pulpits), he knew that brotha was on to something and he wanted to make sure my brothers and I got Dr. King's message and his dream.

James Earl Ray? Here's my father, "Ain't no lone cracker shot him - the FBI got him."

Forty years later, I remember that. And as my baby voice told my father, "Don't worry, Daddy, it can still be done."

"You bet, baby girl. He didn't die for nothing."

I guess that's a big reason why I work in Civil Rights/EEO to this day. Because of that April evening when we learned of Dr. King's death and my father's reaction, and a child's attempt to reassure Daddy everything would be alright.

Thank you Dr. King - we're still trying to make your dream a reality.

No matter how honorable, or noble we may think Colin Powell is, the bottom line for me is when he had the opportunity to stand for honor and nobility, he folded and compromised. Not to mention he threw in his lot with the most contemptable and corrupted Presidential Administration since Richard Milhous Nixon and Ronald Wilson Reagan combined.

But we're supposed to give him credit because the stench of foul activities got to him and he was pretty much forced out?

I would have had more respect for him if he went out like Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill did. And O'Neill was a very wealthy corporate guy who thought he was serving his country when he agreed to take the position as Treasury Secretary, only to be handed his ass and fired when he refused to go along with Bush ripping off the country and using Treasury as a money printing press.

So, I think he's (Powell) the last person to be in a position to criticize the preaching philosophy of Jeremiah Wright. The positive that comes out of the whole saga is that Whites got those YouTube clips of Wright's sermons in full and listened to what he had to say, by which they wound up agreeing with most of what he was teaching.

And we have not seen Rev. Wright back down, retract, or try to sugar-coat what he said. He's sticking by his principles, his Christian faith and beliefs from which those principles came, and to me, he's in a far better position of nobility and honor than Colin Powell can ever dream of, or Barack Obama could ever contemplate.

Powell's acceptability is cloaked in his military uniform. I consider him a good soldier who did as he was ordered, but as my collegue, Bruce Dixon, pointed out, when he had the opportunity to give orders, he gave them in My Lai based on what he was being ordered to do by the SecDef, even though it was WRONG.

A person of principles, moral character, honor and nobility, will do what follows those characteristics, even if he find himself standing alone. He can sleep at night knowing he did what was right.

The irony of this is, are we trying to give Powell a free pass, and if so, are we doing so because he's a brotha? That's like saying you're going to vote for Obama because he's a brotha; and not based on his political platform.

As a Political Junkie, I can't do that. Just last night in my Foreign Policy class, my instructor assigned a book written by Francis Fukuyama on foreign policy. I objected because Fukuyama was a signatory on the "Project for a New American Century" which was 1997 documant that rolled out the Iraq War, exactly as it was carried out, complete with 9/11 "Pearl Harbor-like" event to get the public buy-in on attacking Iraq.

I was admonished to read the book because even Fukuyama realized he'd thrown in his lot with a bunch of f-tards and wanted no part of it. He went so far as to write a book condemning all of it, and that's the book I'm assigned to read. I can read it with less bias, because Fukuyama realised his errors, apologized and got out.

Has Powell apologized for going to the U. N. and lying about WMDs? He's certainly tap-danced around the issue; sounding apologetic in foreign media interviews without actually apologizing. He's even admitted on the air in an interview done about two years ago on "20/20" that he and Bush were still friends who had dinner together and shot the breeze.

This, after disagreeing with Bush, Bush froze him out because Powell was saying stuff Bush didn't want to hear. If you really want to know how Bush operates, read Bob Woodward's "State of Denial: Bush at War, Part III". Rumsfeld treated Powell with abject contempt and Bush didn't check Rummy on it, either. Bush wanted a war, and by God, Rummy and Powell, perhaps at gunpoint, delievered it to him.

THEN, Powell resigns. But the damage is done, so he might as well leave.

He should be evaluated on the merits of his actions as a member of Bush's cabinet. It was pointed out upthread, that Powell did warn the Administration about the risks of war - yet after warning them, he fell in line and became a team player to the point of assisting in the facilitation of that war.

Lesser ranked military officials, because they understood their oath as military officers, saw what this Administration was trying to do and rather than be a part of it, they all resigned or retired from military service, because while they understood the military creed, code and honor, they were equally unwilling to tarnish their own records by being a team player and aiding and abetting the worst criminality of a POTUS administration since Nixon, and Bush makes Nixon look like a Boy Scout by comparison. Just recently, as reported in Black Agenda Report, similar military officials had to "leak" the details of Bush's plans to invade Iran because they were just like the plans to invade Iraq - the military had to stage its own "coup" in order to check the POTUS gone wild.

Their honor and military code demanded it.

I did an ROTC stint - so I fully understand the time honored military code in terms of combat and strategy; it must be done because it has to and in order to defend the country from attack. Where did Iraq attack us? And with what? Those WMDs that Reagan sent Rummy over to Iraq with, when it was feasible to take out Iran back in 1983?

Additionally, the only area I will cut Powell a little slack is the fact his son was in the Bush Cabinet as well and he may have very well went along to protect Michael, while Mike FUBARed the FCC beyond all recognition, and allowed for full monopolization of the media, which has been equally complicit in crimes and covering up for this administration.

Those are the facts that can be verified through Google, Black Agenda Report and other publications on the web.

I don't have to forgive or not forgive Powell - if I felt he had something to offer politically, I would still say what I've stated, and provide reasons why I would support him. He just jumped on the "beat-up-Dr. Jeremiah Wright-bandwagon" cause as Uncle Ruckus of the Boondocks would say, he's being a good lil' "Nigglet".

America is a bigoted ho who can't admit that she's not what she advertises herself to be, because if she were, Obama's race wouldn't be an issue; the Borg Queens' gender wouldn't be an issue, and issues such as Social Security, Iraq, the economy, education, the environment and social justice matters would be the issues.

I'm an American and as patriotic as those congressional fools hollering about a $2 lapel pin that was probably made in China and sold to Wal-Mart by the truckload for $0.89; yet I see America for what she has really become; a ho and a trick selling to the highest bidder without regard for her citizenry.

This reliance on political leaders to get the job done of doing better governance and winding up with the same results (no governance) is insanity and we, America's people, need to shut it down. We need to become our own leaders and govern accordingly, because we really are the leaders we've been hoping and waiting for.

In a word, YES. Monica Conyers and I are around the same age (40ish), and until she got a hold of Conyers, he was the "swinging Bachelor" in Congress until middle-age. He's 78, and his sons are probably in their early 20s at most (and the minimum age for the House of Reps is 25).

McGovern, Feinstein and all other "elders" of the party needs to get her in a room and tell her to drop out or they cut her off from any and all access to the Democratic Party, beginning with her re-election to the U. S. Senate.

I know they can see her dogged determination to not give up the fight, not to mention the fact that every day she stays in this mess, she further alienates all of her base except for the rural Appalachian voters, she risks destroying the party.

And once she succeeds in destroying the Democratic party, she'll return to her ReThug roots.

I'm sorry if you feel that my post unfairly attacked people in Appalachia - however, the facts themselves have not changed. What my post attempted to do was to demonstrate how Hillary Clinton has now begun to rely on the very people she has denigrated or ignored for years; she turned the entire primary contest into a racial hate-fest, and I refuse to sugar-coat what she has done.

If you've read any of my comments or posts on other blogs, you will learn that I'm very ambivalent about Barack Obama, but I cannot deny he has ran a campaign that has been dignified, respectful and very much above the gutter. Even when he could have gone there when Hillary started her attacks, he has not done so, and I have to fully respect how he has conducted himself during the campaign season.

If Obama won West Virginia, Hillary would have spun this as a state of no consequence. You live in Appalachia from what your post indicates; how would you feel if Obama won your state and you had to listen to Hillary spin it as a state of No Consequence?

And the fact that a poll taken there, not to mention polls in places like Pennsylvania, basically indicates that people in those regions, outside of urban areas like Philly or Pittsburgh, Memphis, and maybe Charleston, overwhelmingly indicated that they are not going to vote for Obama, and the only reason they give is Obama's ethnicity?

What the hell are most readers on this blog as well as others, are to deduct from that?

It is easy to say that these individuals represent a "few bad apples", but the reality is that those "few" can add up to a "majority" that indicates an inherent unwillingness to come into the 21st century and become more tolerant and acceptant.

I am a proud African-American woman and I make no apologies for my post. If, as you say, I've insulted Black folk in Appalachia, then tell me, if you guys supported Obama, what you did to help him get more than 25% of the vote in your region?

Where have I been insulting? By pointing out where Hillary has to get her votes, and who or what they represent? She played the race card here, and the only conclusion that can be drawn is that white racists, (which is the majority population, I believe)fell for it and rewarded her race-baiting.

I'm tired of trying to be nice and explain things. I can say I'm not racist until Kingdom come, and there will be individuals so sensitive and wanting to sing "Kuumbayaah" because I point out differences that make people uncomfortable. It is never going to be comfortable when having honest discussions or observations about race relations in this country - though we never stop working for it. I am at a point where sugar-coating messages often mean those messages are going to be ignored, and I can no longer tolerate that.

Blogs gives opinions of the writers, and sometimes, you may not agree with them, but that is no reason to stop visiting a blog unless you're looking for a reason to stop visiting.

Last year, our own Jack Turner was in attendance at Yearly Kos. While I am not presuming to speak for Jack, I do remember him posting a diary asking for Kos to consider including a Bloggers of Color panel or workshop to meet.

I'd have to ask Jack himself, but I remember DEAD SILENCE about this issue. Plus, my own experience posting diaries on Kos regarding issues of race and/or gender, always got flamed and troll-rated for no reason at all, except Kos commenters don't want to discuss issues of race or gender unless KOS initiates it.

I'm open to Kos giving us a seat at the table, but he'd best not promise that seat and hand out scraps when we get there. If we can't sit at the table, we don't want scraps.

I remember that meeting and was wondering how the Clinton camp ignored the late, but always prolific Steve Gilliard (one of the first Black Bloggers who actually made a living from his blog)and excluded him from that meeting.

I've long been a fan of Kid Oakland (probably because I'm from Oakland), and he's one of the few people of color that headlines at Daily Kos.

Kos is Latino, but sometimes, that gets subverted for the sake of the blog...and yeah, politics do go on over there - and the irony is, one of the reasons Kos started that blog was to highlight political hypocrasy at all levels. I just hope he doesn't become what he most despises.

I barely pass the paper sack test. My mother was the same color as Michelle Obama, and just as beautiful. Light-skinned brothas were always trying to step to her, and my father was the lightest guy she ever dated.

She taught me that color was not the issue; it might get me in the door, but if I didn't have the knowledge skills or abilities to stay inside the door, I'd get tossed out. My father kept us away from his mother (my paternal grandmother) because she was color struck and distanced herself from 20 of her thirty grandchildren, because their mothers were Michelle's color or darker.

The one daughter-in-law with light-skin? She left my uncle in a VA hospital after he came back from a tour in 'Nam with shell-shock and PTSD. Dogged out my uncle, but that made no difference to my grandmother.

I wish we could get past the color issue, but as long as we have self-hating, low-self esteem Black people amongst our midst, color is going to always be an issue. Why else would Harold Ford claim his grandmother was white in order to court the redneck vote in Tennessee when he ran for the Senate? Or why he's now married to a Snowflake with moneyed connections?

Self-hating on a grand scale. Most of the most beautiful women I've seen were mahogany colored sistas.

If you notice, while Halle and Vanessa are still good-looking, they are beginning to show their age and it's not pretty. Meanwhile, Ruby Dee and Cicely Tyson, not to mention Maya Angelou, are ageing gracefully and no Botox required.

And the only high-yella sista still luminously beautiful at age 91 is my girl, Lena Horne. She's still beautiful because she wasn't into self-hating and always was down with the darker hue in her community. Capice?

As for Pelosi, her tough talk is coming because Cindy Sheehan is giving her a run for her money in attempting to unseat her, and Pelosi don't want to lose her seat.

She pissed off her district with that "Impeachment is off the Table" BS, and as you know, San Francisco was the FIRST American City to pass a resolution protesting the Iraq War and calling for the Impeachment of Bush and Cheney. To have their representative essentially spit in their faces after enjoying unprecedented support for more than 20 years was more than they in the Haight and Nob Hill could take.

The Bay Area has always led the charge for anti-war protests, going back to Vietnam; the Haight in the 60s was no joke.

Someone's going to have to lay a verbal smackdown on Clinton and her supporters really soon. Not Obama, but perhaps a prominent (reasonable) Clinton supporter is going to have to come forward and tell Clinton and her supporters to stop feigning outrage over a process and rules that they agreed to and even helped create.

BSerious, Carville has already started with the smackdown. The problem is the Clinton supporters aren't listening, and would probably label him as Judas.

I appreciate Al Gore keeping his yap shut in an attempt for neutrality, but he needs to come forward and say something. OTOH, maybe not Gore, because the Clintons would spin it as him being disgruntled, (and he has every right to be because they tanked his chances back in 2000).

The party leaders like Nancy Pelosi need to issue a strong statement to tell Hillary it's over. That way, Hillary can't play the gender or race card if that statement and can of STHU comes from another woman.

I do consider the whole picture, and when I see what Hillary CLinton does and continues to do, it's very difficult to hear the man continue to make these overtures; however, it does place him in the driver's seat when she has absolutely nothing to offer.

It's called the CBC Monitor Report Card, y'all.

If you're serious about outing the sellouts in the CBC (and Al Wynn was a good start to send that message), get yourself informed. Look at their voting records. That's the ammunition you give their challengers to beat them.

If we want the CBC to regain their effectiveness, they have to be shown that they are vulnerable to primary challengers.

This is a group that stood by and watched Cynthia McKinney get harassed by the Capitol Hill Po-Po and when she complained, Mel Watt and crew told her to drink a six-pack of STHU. I personally witnessed that.

We DO have the power, and now is a good time to use it. How can they even face Obama, let alone ask him for help?

Knowing Obama, he's probably going to help them out, but don't think he's not going to keep score of who he's helping out. If he wants some legislation passed in 2009, Stephanie Tubbs-Jones better have her Hanky Head front and center asking him how fast he wants that legislation passed...

I wholeheartedly agree that Obama and his camp should help out in the healing process, but I'm also glad you pointed out that the initiation of healing needs to come from the Clintons, because their egos drove them to do the most damage and caused the most divisiveness in the Democratic Party.

You have given me inspiration for a post on the CBC, now that Obama has secured the nomination. It's time to get on with the business of defeating John McCain, and I, for one, will be glad to reduce Hillary Clinton to a mere footnote in this saga.

In other news, I can't believe how ungracious the Borg Queen is being in defeat. Nor does she need to be allowed any time to "get herself together". As David Gergen pointed out on CNN, she's had months to prepare for this moment.

Whatever she's offering, unless it's the support of her voters, I hope Obama passes on her as his VP, unless they want John McCain to be the next President.

HeartsAndFlowers, I was born in Houston, and raised in Oakland, before I moved to DC three years ago. I did my internship in Ron Dellums' office when Barbara Lee was his Chief of Staff; we go back a ways. So, I have my heart more in Oakland, but there's part of my heart in H-Town as well. Shocked me to the core that Sheila Jackson-Lee represents my old neighborhood and it looks like it's going to pieces, so I'm wondering just what "kind of representation" she's providing?

She has Katrina victims in her district as well, but she's not helping Maxine Waters push through legislation to help them; probably because if she does, those residents return to New Orleans and she'd be ripe for a primary challenger. Hmmmm...

As for Danny Davis, I don't discount what he's done in Congress to spearhead efforts for brothers getting out of the joint; what worries me is his Moonie ties, and the Moonies don't pony up any payola unless they're getting something in return. Davis was caught on video at a "coronation" for Sun Hyung Moon, the leader of the Moonies, held right there in the Dirksen or Russell Senate Building. Full Coronation regalia, and when asked if he was in attendance, Davis denied it, only to be confronted with a video of him carrying a red velvet pillow with a crown on it and placing it on Moon's head.

There was a lot of controversy behind that - especially trying to find out which Senator authorized the use of a Federal Building for coronation purposes, which would also be a violation of Federal law in the use of Federal property.

My point is that the CBC knows the double standards that apply to them and their peers, and they should always conduct themselves in a manner that prohibits being caught out like that. Y'all seen what happened to David Vitter with the DC Madam. She's dead; he's still in the Senate. But if that were, say, Danny Davis or any other CBC member, there would be calls for them to resign their seats.

That's all I'm saying....

Guess there were no dollars in keeping Black people in knowledge, versus rump-shakers that he doesn't want to come back into the Black community to explain away.

While I agree with you, as our friend in the "Field" would say that her behaviour has been classic House Negro behavior, and just because she sees the way the wind is blowing, I cut her no slack.

Yes, she does GETS IT. But a day late and a dollar short. While I appreciate she "gets it", what happened to her memory when she was basically authorizing the Iraq War and was equally disingenious before that 9/11 commission, when Ben-Victor made her own up to the fact that if she had made Bush read that infamous memo "Bin Laden Determined to Strike U.S" and used it to make Bush get off that cow chip he calls his ranch and haul ass back to DC, 9/11 could have been prevented.

I can forgive Obama quitting his church far easier than I can forgive Condoleezza Rice for knowingly and willingly participating in the facilitation of the worst terrorist attack on American soil, and to further compound her effort by signing off on everything Bush told her to do for the last eight years.

When she apologizes and makes one of those Richard Clarke "Your Government Failed You" mea culpas, we can give Rice her due. While she is a brilliant woman, she dulls her brilliance by blindly obeying a lackey that would have been kicked out of most Ivy League schools with his grades, but his pappy's money kept him there.

Sepia, the DLC is Republican-Lite. They readily embrace the GOP policies, especially those that go against everything the Democratic Party has historically stood for.

They are anti-Civil rights; anti liberal - and yet, those who embrace the GOP platform still want to be considered Democrats. Bill Clinton founded the DLC back in the 1980s, when it became easier as a Democrat to get what you wanted if you acted and thought like a Republican.

It has been said that given the choice between a real Republican and a fake Democrat, the voter will go for the real Republican. This has been proven.

Another reason the DLC gets the criticism is that in the 20+ years of it's existance, they have no track record of winning national elections, especially the POTUS, since Bill Clinton, and he only won because a jug-eared businessman named Ross Perot snatched 19% of the General electorate vote that would have gone to Bush's Pappy.

Clinton got lucky, but the GOP took over Congress the following year.

Ever since 2000, those who ran for President on the DLC platform kept getting beat - Gore, then Kerry. Those policies were also responsible for the GOP sweep and control of both houses of Congress for the last 15 years, and they have nothing positive to show for it, except selling out to corporate interests.

If I could blame them for the advent of Fox News, I'd do that, too.

The DLC's losing record goes all the way back to Mike Dukakis - with the exception of Clinton, that's 20 years of losing the White House, because Dukakis, Gore and Kerry all ran on the DLC platform and Gore might be another exception because the Supreme Court invalidated our votes and selected Shrub to steal the White House in 2000.

American Airlines is one airline she won't get upgrades anymore; the last time she flew with them, she clowned them for not upgrading her to First Class, and then, when they did upgrade her, she went ballistic cause they didn't have the meal she wanted.

She has been officially banned from flying American, and I hear Southwest is not too far behind.

At that rate, she'll have to either pay to charter a jet, or get one of those oil baron donors she has, if she doesn't want to travel on Amtrak or Greyhound to get to her district.

And yes, unfortunately, she's all about publicity-seeking, and dropping the names of bills she's signed onto as a co-sponsor. I get emails from her office all the time when the CBC Monitor Report Card gets published, asking why don't we highlight that, and I wear myself out telling them we only review how she voted, not what post office she got named after Harriet Tubman, or something like that.

Until his wife tore his drawers off and we learned she was the one with the cajones.

What I remember is when Dean implemented the 50-state strategy, which led to the Democrats regaining control of both Houses of Congress, and after it was over, James Carville took to the airwaves to say the strategy was a failure and that Dean should be replaced with the Dark Sith.

We know Carville's singing a different tune these days, and someone needs to remind him when he said Howard Dean sucked at the job; yet Obama is now the Democratic Nominee by using that very strategy, and he's rewarding Howard Dean by virtually ensuring that he remains as DNC Chair.

Carville's strategy has resulted in eight years of George Bush - need I say more?

That "50%+1" strategy cost Gore and Kerry their elections because the DLC has always spearheaded that strategy.

As you probably know, I'm from Oakland, and I well know that if all of California voted like we in Northern Cal did, Gray Davis would have served out his second, democratically elected, term.

It's the reason Ah-nold has caught hell and had to tone down that right-wing propaganda when he got handed his ass by the three most powerful labor unions in the State.

Only a horse's ass would piss off the California Nurses Union, the Law Enforcement Union and the Teacher's Union, by threatening to kick their ass through ballot initiatives that required a special election costing you, me, and the rest of the taxpayers millions of dollars to hold off-season.

I loved it when all of Ah-nold's initiatives got defeated by two-third margins; he had to tuck his tail and drink six-packs of STHU.

I have never forgiven the California ReThugs for forcing that recall election; all because Gray Davis got Federal indictments against Enron for price goughing back in 2001 and was granted permission by the Federal Courts to sue and get back Californians' money. The only reason Ah-nold was suggested as a recall candidate was that he had a meeting in a Beverly Hills Hotel room back in May 2001, with Darrell Issa and the guy that spearheaded the recall effort and was instructed to tank that Enron Court Case if the recall election was successful.

You haven't heard about that Enron court case anymore, have you?

Yet Ah-nold's first act was to put a ballot initiative to borrow money to pay off California's debts. The same amount Gray Davis was going to take Enron for sticking Californians with high energy prices and rolling blackouts.

I'm surprised Ah-nold won a second term, but that's probably because after he got handed his ass by the voters in 2003, he had to return to being the moderate he's always been.

Not to mention he lost value to the GOP when he couldn't deliver the electoral votes to Lil' Bush. Cali's been getting screwed over by Lil' Bush ever since.

Belle, you point out a fundamental concept about Republicans' theory of American Government - the concept of elimination of, or neutralizing Government that evolves into either anarchy or facism.

Even if she was going to jail, she was only going to do six years, and probably less than that for good behaviour in Club Fed. So there was no need for her to be that depressed about going to jail when she could have done the time, sold that black book to overseas publishers and got fat paid.

I've worked in Civil Rights for over 20 years - and I've never seen a white woman who didn't benefit from Affirmative Action before a Sista or a Brotha did. They conveniently forget that. In asking Barack Obama to kiss their asses in order to get their votes, I think, as Black Women, we need to send those harpies a reminder that if it weren't for sistas like Barbara Jordan and Shirley Chisholm, they wouldn't have jack, because those sistas had to prop Betty Friedan and crew when they came along, anyway.

Sistas had to teach the Betty Friedans of America how to get in those trenches and fight like the brothas.

Obama wasn't worth a damn to those CBC members because he showed up on the Hill and didn't kiss their asses.

I've already said some of the CBC sistas were crushing on Obama and were old enough to be his Mama. He took a pass on old poon; if they're honest, with the exception of Maxine Waters (she was initially pissed off with Obama because he was too chummy with Joe Lieberman)the remaining sistas (and they know who they are) need to admit that when Obama turned down a chance in the sack with them, they became "women scorned".

I was here in DC during CBC Weekend 2004 - I witnessed Obama get traumatized by those sistas before I knew who he was; he was the new kid on the Block - a skinny, light-skinned, purple-lipped, but rather attractive brotha with the funny name, running for a seat in the U. S. Senate. I had to Google him to find out who he was.

I also witnessed Harold Ford Jr.'s nose get bent out of shape, because he was the Price of the CBC and was being knocked off his throne by the light-skinned, skinny, purple-lipped brotha with the funny name.

They were all MasterCard moments.

And now, since they've dissed Obama and he's THE MAN, the CBC members facing primary challengers and pissed off constituents and want him to protect their re-election efforts by endorsing or campaigning for them. I say it's high time they get shaken out of their comfort zones and stop mailing in their performances like Al Wynn did.

You know what happened to Fat Albert. He's now an ex-member of Congress, but he landed on his feet, working for the largest energy rip-off lobbying firm in DC.

They became comfortable in those "safe" districts; so comfortable that they thought they could continue to sell out our interests for pennies on the dollar and not have it come back on their asses.

They continued to support Hillary even after the race-baiting. Even Charlie Rangel, Hillary's benefactor in the New York Political Circle, began to say "Hold Up" when her campaign got out of hand. If he saw it, what the hell was the matter with Stephanie Tubbs-Jones? Even Sheila Jackson-Lee knew she was sounding lame at the State of the Black Union back in February, trying to talk up Hillary and getting cold stares from the audience.

And I see Tavis has climbed under his rock - not even bothering to congratulate Obama for winning the nomination. Straight hater, just like Ford.

Even if Obama doesn't win, his nomination places him where no Black Man has ever been before. If he loses, he still returns to the Senate, still a powerful, influential Senator. He will still have a good deal of clout and his goodwill will always be desired. The fact that Obama broke through the old guard and got stuff done the way Martin, Malcolm and Medgar would have done, is sending shock waves down their spines because deep down inside, those old fogies thought it could never be done; a grass-roots effort, that is.

It can't be comfortable for them right now, but they have to pay the price for treason, and I'm not talking about supporting Hillary; I'm talking about selling their votes to Big Oil, Telecommunications, Finance, the environment, and failing to filibuster bad legislation that is now law.

For those infractions, they should be made to pay the price.

I'm no longer in the NAACP. I said I used to volunteer for them, and that was about 10 years ago, when they started ignoring any and all issues of racism and discrimination of people who weren't Black.

The NAACP was started as a coalition of all people of race, gender, religion, ethnicity - that faced bigotry and discrimination on all levels. Until the 1970's the organization did what it was intended to do when WEB DuBois helped to found it.

The wheels have come off under the current leadership - name me a board that has 63 members on it that is actually effective in policy development, change and implementation. The NAACP won't be found on that list.

Why do you think the CBC members like Tubbs-Jones are running to Obama crying for him to provide them cover because their districts are letting them have it for continuing to support a race-baiting candidate with bigoted female supporters?

It wasn't about them dissing Obama; it never was. It was about continuing to tote water for a race-baiting bigoted candidate, in the face of the evidence that showed she would sling them under the bus as fast as she did the Black community.

Don't assume that because we write about this stuff, that we're not doing anything else other than writing about it. We're planning fundraisers, recruiting candidates, organizing readers into greater political activism. Don't think because you can't see it, that it's not being put in the mix.

Very nice, but every black woman is not dying to be "powerful". We have been "powerful" and independent over generations out of necessity. That is not to say that there is no beauty in power, but the burden of necessity in displaying our power has contributed to the false notion that we are all "superwomen" who can take anything and don't have a wide range of feelings like women of other races.

You knocked it out of the park with that one. You got me, because that statement about us as Black Women is oh, so true, and fits many of us to a T.

Now, I'm going to tell a joke of sorts, but it fits, too.

Anyone remember when some comedian, a dark-skinned brotha, told the audience and made reference to a light-skinned brotha that thanks to Wesley Snipes, he put dark-skinned brothas back in fashion and that all the women stopped giving play to the "beige" brothas as a result?

While I laughed, I was sad, too; that we simply appear, as a race, to get past the issue of skin color. White people ask me all the time what's up with Blacks and the inner-bigotry of skin color.

My answer is usually harsh, but I answer them, anyway. I usually reply:

"Some white guy named Willie Lynch told slaveowners that the best way to forstall Blacks congregating en masse and facilitating a mutiny is to divide them by skin-color; treating one group with darker skin worse than the ones with light-skin. That wound up with light-skinned slaves getting the house work and dark-skinned slaves working in the fields. It also fueled self hatred among us, because we actually started to believe that one color was superior to another; the way Lynch wanted it."

Now, there's some dissent as to whether or not Willie Lynch himself actually existed, but the use of colonization as a means of separating the Black race, is very real and continues almost five centuries later.

I've witnessed it in my own family. My paternal grandmother had very little to do with ten of her grandchildren because she was a color freak. My father and his brothers married brown to dark-skinned sistas and they were light brown to high yellow brothas.

My grandmother never forgave them for marrying who they loved. The one son-in-law she had that was damned near white, abused and cheated on my aunt until the day she couldn't take it anymore and busted a cap in his guts. While everyone urged my aunt Claudine to leave Uncle Charles, my grandmother urged her to stay because he was light-skinned.

That was some sick shyt. My father made a conscious decision when my brother was born, to keep his children away from his mother.

A decision, I might add, that was very wise, because my brother and I may very well have been scarred by our grandmother. As a result, thanks to both parents, skin color was not allowed to be an issue in our house, and even when my own mother (who's Michelle's color) made reference to it, my high yellow maternal grandmother, for whom I am named, would put her in check, too.

Sorry to get a lil' off topic, but Michelle Obama should be celebrated for the fact that she is a beautiful and accomplished woman who will re-define the role of First Lady to the point that after their eight years are up, women coming after her will have a standard to meet as First Lady, because she will establish it.

Brothas in particular, are taking exception to Mr. Obama's comments, when they know they have been holding it down as fathers, and he didn't even give them so much as a shout out for the positives.

I may be wrong, but it seems that when Mr. Obama is in front of Black People, he pulls a "Cosby" and we let it pass without challenging him on the veracity of his remarks, while, at the same time, he provides comfort to whites by essentially saying "See, I'm not like the other brothas."

He cannot be a brotha when it's convenient. Harold Ford tried that and look where it got him - right out of politics with a snowball's chance in hell of getting back what he used to have. And he made it more difficult if he's planning to re-enter politics in Memphis because he has a white wife. If he were in California, New York or any major city, the race of his wife wouldn't be an issue - in Memphis, it will be and always will be.

That's why some folk are upset with Obama's remarks - he painted all brothas with the same brush and if his remarks were out of context, he needs to step up and own up, while Manning Up.

Jenn, while I appreciate your comments, I'm also hearing from brothas who heard that speech and my own brothers being among them. They are Obama supporters and felt he slapped them in the face with his comments.

My father held it down for 18 years before giving in to alcholism. Say what you want about that, but before he crawled into a bottle, my father held down two jobs and ran a business selling scrap metal and a barbeque joint in 5th Ward in Houston, Texas.

My brothers; one is a retired Air Force Captain, the other is a managment official at Pacific Bell/AT&T;, and have been married to the same women for 35 and 30 years, respectively. My six nieces and three nephews have between them four college degrees, military service, and one is a Youth Pastor.

My sister-in-laws are versions of Michelle Obama - while they don't have degree's from Princeton or Harvard, one of my sister-in-laws managed her degree from Pepperdine and the other one did her work overseas.

I say all that to explain while you interpreted Senator Obama's remarks one way, brothas like mine, Boyce Watkins, Glen Ford, Bruce Dixon, George Curry and others, heard the same remarks and that's how they were interpreted.

He could have at least clarified his remarks by qualifying them.

This is "PUT UP OR SHUT UP" time for McCain's camp.

If they're really serious about public campaign financing, Obama's move should not only force McCain to opt out, but it should have Rahm Emmanuel shytting in his pants because this move effectively challenges sitting House and Senate members more beholden to corporate cash than representing their districts. The districts can talk with their votes and their money.

How many CBC members do you think Obama pissed off with this move? Even though they will actually get more money from public donations than they get with corporate cash, because they are low on the feed chain in terms of payola ($1000 for them vs. $50K Tom DeLay used to charge lobbyists just to take their phone calls).

Unlike you, I fully support freedom of speech, even when I disagree with it, but I will always draw the line at slander, innuendo and flat out lies. We're going to see this from now until after the brotha gets sworn in, and it probably won't stop until his last day in office. While we'd like to believe we should be past racism, the fact remains that there are votes he's not going to get because he's a Brotha, and that's the real. Which is why we need to call out any media outlet engaging in this punditry, and that also includes not handing the enemy any more ammunition that they can use.

It's easy to say "If they weren't talking about you, then it doesn't matter". How many times have you heard something that you knew didn't apply to you, and yet, you felt insulted, whatever? The brothas who responded to Obama's remarks (and yes, not only did I watch the speech, its' been reposted here on this very thread) were interpreting his remarks as if he slung ALL BROTHAS, including the ones holding it down as fathers, under the bus, whether it applied to them or not.

I support Barack Obama, and yet, my training as a political scientist taught me to evaluate and analyze very carefully what's coming out of his mouth, so in the end, if he gets the White House, and he starts engaging in policies that starts giving people heartburn, I, for one, will not be caught off guard, because, if we analyze his speeches, and sift through rhetoric and code words, we will know exactly what the man is telling us he's going to do as POTUS.

No one is asking him to pay attention only to the concerns of African-Americans; yet, his reluctance to discuss issues pertaining to African-American communities, like the issue of Black Fathers (or their absence) is making me very nervous in the sense that once he's sworn in, and nothing changes in the African-American community like it was supposed to do in the movie "Rufus Jones for President" a good deal of his Black supporters are going to be highly disappointed, even though they say they won't be.

I need to remind you that once he's elected (and I believe he will beat the shyt out of McCain in the Fall), Obama will have very little room for error and very little time to make an impact (usually, POTUS don't get to do things to make significant impacts until their second term, if they see one) - so from Day One, he's already campaigning for the second term by making sure he lays a foundation for re-election. That means not pissing off the real benefactors that got him there.

I like the political discussions here on this blog, but I have never engaged in calling any commenter on here names, even if I disagree with them. The fact that CL prefers to call me names as opposed to engaging in real discussion, well, who's really the whiney, immature one on this board?

Oh, and CL - long posts like yours suggests you should get your own blog because it appears you have a lot to say. Think about it.

I hope I qualify as a heroine, Belle, because I spent most of the weekend debating whether or not objective criticism of Obama and his policies were off limits.

Did I not post a thread linking to articles calling him out on his preaching on last Sunday, and got my happy ass flamed until well done?

What say those of you who flamed and engaged in name calling of me last week for pointing out examples like this? And that was mild, compared to the fact that Obama, if we pay attention, is actually TELLING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT HE IS GOING TO DO AS PRESIDENT.

Pay attention to how he adjusts his message to the audiences he addresses, and it is no excuse that he has to tailor his message to certain constituencies. Most of us have universal goals and policies we want addressed and none to exclusion.

AIPAC - Israel will be protected at all costs. Sounds like he's cosigning one of the Senators who's busy pandering to the GOP and slandering him, Joe Lieberman.

UCC - Quit when the heat got turned up. I don't care how distracting Jeremiah Wright was perceived to be; you are not going to tell me he sat under Wright's pastorage for over 20 years and never once heard one of those "controversial" sermons.

I'll give him a pass on refusal to accept public financing because if he does and McCain doesn't, he gets handcuffed and can't finance protection against being swift boated.

Obama is a shrewd politico, but the day we can't call him out on his shyt before he enters the White House, we've already descended into a police state...amongst ourselves. Never mind what the GOP will do; hell, they won't really have to do anything to us except sit back and watch us destroy ourselves because we want a Black Face in the White House to the extent we excuse, pander and give a pass to the brotha who has told us "there is no Black America".

Obama's pandering so as not to be seen as soft on terrorism. That's expected.

I call BS on this one, d. He doesn't have to pander to anyone - he needs to find his platform and either stick to it or get off. He's flip flopping more than Kerry to the point he's making Kerry look stable. Additionally, when he said he liked Ronnie Raygun, that should have given us all PAUSE.

Instead, we spent time defending him and parsing his statements praising Reagan. People of color got annihilated during the Reagan administration to the point we actually was happy to see Bush, Sr.

I will probably vote for Obama, but it will qualified with a "But", because there's probably more I'm going to have to call BS on before this is over.

At least I won't be expecting him to take people of color to the Promised Land if he wins. I won't be disappointed in his policies, either.

Let's be honest; the Bush Administration has amassed totalitarian power and no succeeding POTUS, be it Clinton, Obama or McCain, is going to willingly hand back the concept of checks and balances back to Congress, since Congress GAVE THEM UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Yes, I'm shouting, because in the face of evidence, there will still be some who will not "GET IT" and it will be to their own detriment.

D., his real options are to name a platform and stick to it, instead of running this fluid campaign that allows him to be a damned chameleon at will.

And if he's pandering to factions that are not going to vote for him anyway, that's saying far more about his ability to lead than I need to know.

Even Bill Clinton accepted that there were factions of the country that weren't going to vote for him and he concentrated his efforts on the ones were most likely to vote for him. While that strategy worked for him, I like Howard Dean's 50-state strategy better, but really, while Obama needs to contend for votes in all 50-states, sometimes, he should know when and where to pack it in.

That's what is meant by evisceration of your 4th Amendment rights. And since you asked how many of us have been concerned about the constitution, I join in with PT Cruiser as having been concerned about the constitution since 1976 - when a Civics instructor named Dr. Orville B. Davis, made a class of kids memorize the preamble to it and recite it chapter and verse.

I was one of those junior high kids forced to memorize the thing and got re-introduced to it as a college freshman taking Con Law.

It's not that people had no concern about the constitution - it wasn't until the Supreme Court decided to violate their own commission to uphold, defend, protect and interpret the Constitution in favor of partisanship, and continual destroying of the provisions for the last eight years, woke up everyone with a brain and a conscious.

Senator Obama taught Con Law - therefore to support outright evisceration of the protections he lectured on as a law school professor, should be giving everyone pause.

But, we African-Americans with a critical thought are flamed when we voice such concerns, and if the true progressives not African-American say anything, they're either racist or straight hating.

I fully support MoveOn's campaign to make Obama put up or shut up. How he responds should be viewed how he will lead, and should he respond in a manner that speaks to censorship and whatnot, we will have our answer.

As in, "Meet the New Boss, straight from the Same Bush."

I find myself in a growing number of people who are saying the same thing, "I will vote for him, but..." because at this point, I don't know how my vote is going to count, but I cannot afford to stay home. Who's to say - I might fool everyone and cast my vote for Cynthia instead - it depends on where I find myself between now and November, and it also depends on how much more we'll find out about Mr. Obama's platform before I really have to leave him Stuck Like Chuck.

He's come dangerously close to it with the situation with his former Pastor. And don't get me started with the FISA mess - I'm hoping MoveOn gets Color of Change to join him in holding him to his promise to filibuster FISA (new). His lame-ass statement sounded like regurgitating Lieberman-ReThug talking points, and they sure have Kos' knickers in a bunch.

We have to be willing to call out this brotha both on the negatives as well as the positives. Excusing them because he's running for office doesn't cut it with me anymore.

Well, just like a virus is a symptom of a disease, addiction is the actual disease itself, B-Serious. And just like you treat the disease by administering the antibiotic that kills the source, we may have to identify racism and bigotry in the same manner and kill it the same way.

Self-empowerment is always a good cure, but there are people who don't want to do the work to get there and are comfortable being sick (i. e. Armstrong Williams, et al).

Others, like Imus and crew, are afraid of having to live in a world where they can no longer have bigotry or racism to hide behind as a means of covering up their own deficiencies. It's easier to take everyone else's inventory than to take one's own and learn about those character defects, much less become willing to have them removed.

And yeah, everything did stop at 1968, because Martin got assassinated before he could show the rest of Black America how to link integration with demanding equality in jobs and education. On the last day of his life, he did tell his associates that rather than feeling proud of the accomplishments of the civil rights movement thus far, he felt he'd integrated us right into a burning house, meaning, integration and being allowed to go where white people went, meant nothing if we didn't have the economic wherewithal to get there and stay there.

I knew it was only a matter of time before he got caught with his drawers showing - the fact he ran to Al Sharpton after the "nappy-headed hoes" comment demonstrated that whenever a white celebrity screws up, they got Al Sharpton on speed-dial, hope they can give him payola for Al to provide cover and absolution, and everyone's happy.

They didn't expect the sponsors to get hit, though, and in the end, the sponsors slung Imus under the bus and waited for the storm to blow over before digging him back up and putting him back on the air.

Just a matter of time. The fact that despite our protests about O'Reilly, Hannity and Limbaugh have gone ignored, says only one bigot at a time can they afford to sling under a bus in the hopes it shuts us up. We need to keep making noise until the airwaves are cleaned of their asses, and the way we do that is to take back a portion of the airwaves that got stolen from us.

I disagree. His winning the nomination proved effectively that he doesn't need Hillary; only her supporters. And many of them were turning towards him, save for the more rabid ones like Gerry the Klanswoman, when Hillary had to be forced from the stage.

Neither one had any real track record on anything; in fact, before they both decided to run, Obama and Clinton's Senate voting records were identical.

I say the shoe is on the other foot, and I'm not in Obama's camp when I say that, either.

I have yet to see her in something like that purple dress Michelle Obama rocked, and I often wonder, cause the first indication of abuse is the clothing a person wears to cover up bruises and injuries.
