I'm sure making the jump was a difficult but exciting decision. I wrote for Web Worker Daily while "between careers" in the spring, had a great experience, and was really impressed and humbled by the talent there and throughout the GigaOM network.

Re: RSS: What’s the Deal in 2010?

I actually love that G Reader is content consumption/sharing "first," with people added in as an organic part of the RSS reader experience. I'm not forced to manage friend requests and friend lists in anything like the same way as Twitter or Facebook.

You bring up an interesting point about advertising, but I'd be amazed if Google Reader's social features, as part of Google's overall social networking/media strategy, were not an important part of their plans going forward. Gmail, iGoogle, Google Reader, Google Friend Connect, etc. have tremendous potential synergy together and already have huge member numbers, obviously, in their own respective rights.

Re: FriendFeed’s Just Fine

Jesse, as Louis alludes to, sounds like you're pointing to international activity as a marker that FF may be taking a Friendster/Orkut like route longterm. In my view that still gives FF the opportunity to be a longterm winner, though I must agree with Louis that it would give U.S. users/power users a lot more confidence if we could see Facebook talking it up. Or talking about it at all.

Re: Challenge to Rackspace: enable 15-min $100 Twitter businesses

I love this... but why stop at just Twitter? As far as speaking "behind one's back," I think that is true at times *but* the fundamental issue is that the original publisher is often not alerted which more often than not means *positive* feedback and positive conversations are kicked off without the publisher even being aware !

Re: Thinking Outside of “Boxed In”

Yes, I've played that race-against-the wire game with On Demand as well, actually worked out very well while I was sick last month.
