I enjoyed it thoroughly. I'm the daughter of a newspaperman, and can so vividly remember those light tables and linotype machines. My dad ran a small town paper from the early 80s through the early 2000s, and transitioned from layout with wax on a light table to computers and completely digital production. Quite a journey! It sounds like your father had his own journey, and that he took the high road with integrity. I'm sure it wasn't easy, but he played a part in helping our country take one step closer to equality. Thanks for a lovely article!

Re: A bookend

It gets better. My crafty thoughts are tied up in drawing, papercrafts, design, painting, jewelry-making, and okay, I love it all. I'm never, ever bored.

Re: Moms & Sex: help me help you!

Ok, I kind of just want to cry now. I'm glad, however, that so many others still have good sex lives! Before kids, my husband and I had a great sex life. Always good, always ready to go... sometimes multiple times a day. Then, kids...two of them, just under 2 years apart. As a stay at home mom, I was with the kids allllll the time. It wore on me. There was never a good time for sex, and honestly, it wasn't even on my radar. I was TIRED. Now the kids are 8 and 10, and in school all day. I work part time from home. Hubby travels but is home on weekends. And honestly, sex isn't even on my radar. When we have it, I always enjoy it. But I just never think about it... and it has definitely hurt our relationship. I certainly don't feel sexy, and even though I'm no supermodel, I'm adequately attractive. I guess I need to see a doctor or a therapist and see if there's any hope of libido recovery? I'm in my mid-30s and hoping that sexual peak will come hit me over the head soon... but honestly, I'm scared it will just be like this forever.

Re: my wife is amazing

Jess is such a natural, isn't she? You guys are obviously pros at the baby-making.
