And yes, twas great to meet last week - thanks the comment mate :)

Re: The Reason Why Companies Don’t ‘Get It’

some good points. businesses still have to make money, however I'm with you on the 'meaning' part. Just read a book you may find interesting about this topic. Meaning Inc by Gurnek Bains, check it out.
I'm down with Guy Kawasaki on this point.
The great companies have always looked to make meaning first, then the money will follow. thats the ROI. (his examples include Apple, Google et al)
nice to meet you last friday, albeit briefly. In any case I'd be interested to see if there's as much participation in Asia for this. Or is there a Mah Jong equivalent. Hope you're well mate. It's all good here in Hong Kong. Something like Virgin mobile's V-Festival 'festival buddy' phone app being one recent example. Useful and potentially something worth talking about and sharing (assuming it wasn't crap, of course)

Re: daydream believer

Sorry - wasn't v. clear. Also, haven't really thought through.

What I meant was something like this:

The more money I throw at advertising, the more my sales increase, until the point at which we reach saturation, at which they plateau.

Throwing money at other touchpoints may (a) have less impact than the heroin-hit of TVCs and (b) plateau faster in terms of impact.

--

As I say, haven't really given it enough thought, and can't cite cases, but I suspect that this may be the truth, and (more to the point) suspect that this is how budget-holders think

Re: daydream believer

not sure what you mean?

Re: OK is not enough

cheers fella.
Loving your caricatures (assuming they are yours?)

Re: 'you better cheat, cheat. no reason to play fair'

yep, 'professional' is def a word that has changed it's 'meaning'.

Re: there's a hole in my funnel

emailed it to you, cheers E

Re: influence vs popularity part 3

do it, your story will be different ;)
