Ouch! Up 180% to now down 15%? My sincere condolences. I went through a similar situation when I first got into the stock market and I was trading penny stocks (I can't believe how foolish I was looking back). It's the main reason I switched my stock market strategy and went for investing in major stocks.

Very nice article. I vaguely remember seeing a commercial where Michael Jordan says that quote and you see him failing over and over.

When I first started in the stock market, I did horrible. I lost a big chunk of my portfolio in the first year. It was devastating, but I told myself if I don't learn from these mistakes and don't give up, that I can be successful. The next year I made up all the losses and was beating the indexes.

Also don't be too bummed out about no Wii. I've had one for over a year and Nintendo despite their massive success are still falling prey to their old problems of having no real 3rd party support. My Wii hasn't been turned on in quite a while since there just isn't anything to play. The games Nintendo makes (1st party games) are great, but they are few and far between.

It's really been like that ever since the Nintendo 64. So the only time my Wii gets any action is when I have friends over. Wii Bowling + Alcohol = Fun times. =)

I think we all know net worth is just a bragging right. It means little in terms of knowledge of money, means to grow and protect your money, etc.

I run the blog/site called The Investor's Journal. It is a free website where I write articles teaching people how to invest using the lessons I've learned over my investing career. I try to write quality over quantity articles in an easy to understand manner. I'd prefer the "investing" or "stock market" keyword. Thanks for your consideration.

Congratulations. I'm up around 18% for the year, unfortunately took a hit last Friday of about 4%. I hope you sold all those stocks before the recent sell off because it seems like you were really heavy in the Tech sector.
