Good Set... I always have a hard time getting through "closer"..... come on... "break my stoney heart" has got to be one of the worst lines... Anyways, sorry I missed it, we could have done an "Extreme" Version

I totally agree with Vince. We've also made it more marketable.... what does that tell you?
At least you haven't gone on the month and half hiatus like me! What was that about?
I'll be praying with you..... you've put a challenge on me, and it does seem quite "Impossible".

A good reflection of what is needed for authentic/genuine pastoral care. A list I would recommend for any new/young leader to think carefully about.

in Apple Supports No on Prop 8 - betterthanblank on BetterThanBlank
hmmmm thats a sticky one... on one end I do not feel as though it is my duty to subjugate moral rule or biblical mandates upon peoples unalienable rights and freedom granted by the laws of the land. But on the other side I know that is not the intended order or purpose that God had created in the beginning. So therefore it is automatically wrong/perverse/sinful.
On both ends of the spectrum there have been numerous atrocious acts. Thats scary to me. Our inability to be objective about serious issues.
As far as the church's involvement, the conversation/push should be done more on a grassroots level as opposed to meeting up at the voting polls and flex our muscles/will/reign.

I too have close friends that are homosexuals, I feel they deserve every basic human right that I am able to live out, and I don't believe that puts my faith into question. I recognize that our world is spinning in a different cycle and my goal is not to reroute the cycle but to be a light in and amongst it.
I Still have alot to digest with this one....

God have mercy!

in Who Should I Vote For? on BetterThanBlank
Hear hear! Kudos to you alex. I would consider myself politically aware to a certain point . I am not passionate about it nor am I fervant on any one issue. As a Christian I have come to the understanding that Christianity is not/should not be a Political Movement. But we must understand that there are "Political Implications" for being a Christian. Thus as alex mentioned, our effort to produce a healthy christianity would be more resounding on the Grassroots level as opposed to just voting our social agenda. Not say voting is not important, because it is! Very much so, but we have to ask ourselves, what are we doing to bring about real change after we vote (not matter who is elected)? Real, authentic, selfless change.
For the whole of humanity, not just our own personal freedoms.

In the context of the church, Innovation is the ability to keep moving/looking forward. Adapting while remaining consistent to the Gospel and not compromising ourselves in the process. I believe it takes a very diverse group of people to be truly innovative.

Great post! I am never one to say what someone can or cannot do/say. I believe that it is important to educate ourselves across the board by reading different/opposing views. I had the honor of taking a class in college on this very subject. Amazing what you will find out about yourself and others as you begin to disect what you believe and why. check these books out for further study.

Two Views on Women in Ministry by various authors

What Paul Really Said About Women: The Apostle's Liberating Views on Equality in Marriage, Leadership, and Love by John Bristow

P.S. I really feel this debate comes down to where you begin your study. Genesis or Pauline Letters. Talk amongst yourselves.

in Called to Ministry? on BetterThanBlank
Hmmm...I think it is vitally important to have these types of reminders. Especially for people who work in the church. So often we can get caught up in the hub bub of ministry that we really lose it's purpose and ultimately its pure affect.
I am a firm believer that God does take care of us, when he so chooses. But I am also I firm believer that he has created us all to be good stewards, hence we are responsible for our bodies, finances, family vitality. God is in the business of creating people he can trust to make the right decisions. FREE WILL yay!
Good Post! I like to hear church people think intentionally about their lives and callings from God.
