I haven't read all the comments - but have just read Deepak's and frankly I think he summed perfectly in the way I've felt about your recent tweets, comments & shares.

LOL Bombastic :) Yeah, i gotcha - don't worry, i do understand the power of headlines. I just think there's a little responsibility that comes with putting some of them out there, like this one which is scary sh*t! :)

Robert, sugar coating - i agree, no sugar coating allowed. But "death spiral"... come on now... :)
Also, regarding the amount of power i ascribe to you - you may have a point there - but rest assured, a lot of young startups look to folks like you for thoughts on where the internet startup is going over the next few months. "Death Spiral" sounds like the scariest theme park ride ever - so if that's what you were implying then you hit the nail on the head.

Yeah, hoarding a little no doubt - but i always do. But Robert, we need people like you to keep people positive...titles like: "we're in a death spiral" will just antagonise the situation...bringing more fear - particularly people like us that read your blog - startups & entrepreneurs. I know you mean no harm by it and you are only trying to stay realistic & on topic - but a little positivity will ya! :) We've all got something to contribute and as long as that is the case we'll get through the next couple of years.

in Seedcamp, ‘08: In a pack of copycats, two start-ups shine on VentureBeat
Dan, you don't know what you're talking about... Soup.io as worst? Man, Soup.io would beat nearly the majority of tc50 companies in innovation & attention to detail. Your rankings here are enough for me to completely abandon your posts entirely. What a joke.

It would be helpful if you could point out how they are innovative. For the record, I was not particularly impressed with nearly the majority of tc50.

Thanks for the reply Robert. Yeah, i see u mentioned evernote up there. I see you mentioned GetSatisfaction - i'm pretty interested in these guys. It's interesting how they haven't started charging yet. I suppose they have got a million plus in funding...you think they're just trying to get companies on board, hooked & then charge them later?

in Startups: your web site sucks on Scobleizer
I also wish "Bob" up there had quoted one of his sites or whoever he is...these guys who leave these apparently bold statements yet don't leave who they are should be removed from comments imo - they are worthless.

in Startups: your web site sucks on Scobleizer
Funny you say that, I did actually go through the Demo list earlier today and was stunned myself at the quality of some of these companies sites. The only thing that made them look impressive at time was the fact that they said that they were launching at Demo. You'd think after spending $18000 or whatever it is on the launch there - that they would have spent a good chunk on wowing their prospective clients when they visited their site.
There is nothing that puts me off more to be honest than an ugly site. In fact, 90% of the time I may even use a webapp with less features but an overall better interface simply because of the huge impact on my state of mind whilst using it. If i feel like a 3rd rate worker whilst using an app, i'm likely to produce 3rd rate work too...
Anyway, I agree with you here Robert.
If any web 1.0 styled sites with web 3.0 technology are out there looking for a slick UI - drop me a note at zee@wedocreative.com.

in Mozilla gives the passionates one with Ubiquity on Scobleizer
Absolute zero non-passionates as you call them will use the tool but the surge in passion is likely to go through the roof which should guarantee another couple of hears of the passionates convincing the non-passionates that Firefox is the best browser out there...which, if you look after it, it is.

f*ck me. pardon my French Robert - but i was reading that shaking my head at first thinking he's just going to go on & on about how poor things are & not really offer any real solutions...hence the "f*ck me" (as in "wow" btw). BUT you did they're actually bloody impressive. They are some very good points (particularly point 1 & 9 for me) & what I love is the personal nature to most of them...it's something which I have always wanted to see from the PR world & something which I am doing my best to ensure we do ourselves.
I feel like a real suck as* saying this again, but great great post.

in FriendFeed Comments WordPress Plugin on Development on a shoestring
Hi Glenn, sorry to bother you - I can see you've been swamped with support requests already. When you have a moment, can you tell me why the plugin doesn't seem to work correct at my blog www.proproductivity.com .
Firstly, although it links up correctly to the right post on frienfeed - I don't seem to see the comments from friendfeed appear on my blog & vice-versa (when I make a comment on my blog, it doesn't seem to appear on friendfeed) . Here's an example http://www.proproductivity.com/2008/how-to-tie-... and the post on friendfeed is here: http://friendfeed.com/e/8979f441-7738-525a-f5d8... .
Hope you can be of some help. Thank you
