The other I just noticed that Gmail adds an extra security feature at the footer, just look for the text:
Last account activity: ..... Details
And you will see your last activity/connection to that account and if you click on "Details" you can see your "Recent activity" (IP, access type and date) and if somebody is reading your emails you can sing out from all your session just clicking a button.

You should try http://www.emesene.org , it's very simillar to the MSN Messenger for Windows, and on the last version it support file transfers. Oh, offline messaging too :), for me was very useful 'cause I have a lot of contact who sent me always offline messages :S. I hope this comment help anybody :)
