in Mission Failure and Changes Coming Monday on Chuck Westbrook's Blog
That sucks, but I think I know one of the reasons it might have been meandering. Since each fortnight's blog was so different from the one preceding it, I suspect some people dropped out as soon as they hit a blog that didn't interest them, even if the next one would have been more to their liking.
I would imagine most social networking pros, for example, saw no use in our group blog and might have given up at that point.
While it was easy enough to subscribe to one extra blog for a two week stretch (and in a couple of cases, stick around permanently,) I'd wager some people wanted a more instant and constant return on their investment of time.
Maybe multiple tracks of blogs would work better, although it would require much more work or delegation on your part. Then the people could just follow the tracks that interest them: marketing, humor, writing, personal, etc. That would turn the project into something more like a rotating blogroll, I think, but it might be able to keep more people engaged over the long run.

I didn't cry while reading it. I thought it was an okay read, but really couldn't stand the authorial tone.
For me, the '88 World Fantasy Award winner "Replay" is a far better time-crossed lovers story.

But what about "Waldo's Hawaiian Holiday"? That's already the sequel to Repo Man.
Granted, it's a comic and not a movie, but still.

Mike, other than the region encoding, watch out for the hidden costs on buying from one of the overseas Amazons. I bought a book off Amazon.uk earlier this year that only "cost" like $8 including shipping. Until the import duties and conversion fees from Amex got tacked on.
I'd have to go look for the exact total, but it came to around $70 to buy a book that cost £1.

@bella, I don't know about the hardcover edition; that's not out for a while yet. This trade edition collects the six, the FCBD comic, and a couple of other pieces, including a prose piece Way had written. Basically, everything you'd have if you got the free comic, followed closely on MySpace, and bought the six issue run.
I'd assume the hardcover will contain the same and possibly some more.

in SciFi’s “Charlie Jade” preview on Pop Critics
Thanks, Sean. Glad the preview and recaps are helping. Trust me...it is that hard. Remember, I've already seen the whole season. When I watched it the first time I was just as lost as everyone else.

@D.L., Joe Hill's dad dabbles in writing a little as well. He's not very prolific, though.

Gamma is the lush paradise. Like history, 'Verse names are written by the winners. Alphaverse is the nasty place where Vex-Cor is in charge.

in Charlie Jade pilot recap: “The Big Bang” on Pop Critics
It does get a little easier. The pilot is a bit more confusing than the rest of the series. There will be weird things happening and puzzles to work out throughout, but you'll start to get more comfortable in each of the 'verses. You'll know immediately when you see the bluish one that you're in ours, and that Charlie's stuck here. You'll also figure out the rules - who knows what and who's in charge of what - in each.

in Battlestar Galactica recap: “The Hub” (S4×09) on Pop Critics
Even the bickering between Baltar and Roslin about which one was better suited to talking to the hybrid, who was saving the baby in the opera house, etc. just made me laugh. We haven't really seen funny-arrogant Baltar since season one and it was so refreshing.

A-mazing. Baltar was hilarious right up through the explosion, but it was such real comedy, coming out of his reborn character. One thing that I noticed, and maybe it was just me, but when Baltar is talking to the Centurion about the dog with the treat on its nose, the lighting, the expression on his face, the angle he's got his head all made him look like Roddy McDowell in Planet of the Apes. Made it all the funnier to me.
The rest of the episode was equally great. Such a contrast with last week, that it's hard to realize they're basically a pair of episodes. The battle sequence, the unboxing of Deanna, and that sweet, beautiful, perfect ending to an episode. Man, they knocked that one out of the ballpark.

@Jason, it's unfortunately a double-whammy. Not only do they want you to pay really close attention (although things will get dropped with the writer-team handoff,) the series starts out a little slowly. The pilot especially is really just trying to set the tone and mood, along with just enough explanation about the three universes to whet your appetite.
I totally understand not getting into it, but I'd give it another week or two to see. I went into it predisposed to like it, and looking back I think I was pretty forgiving of the shortcomings of the early episodes. It totally paid off for me pretty fast, though.
@Ape, I think you spent too much time at the end with the Jade half and not enough with the Charlie half. Try this to even it out.

@Cap'n, I didn't read "Planet Hulk". I'm kind of lukewarm on the Hulk in general, but I've heard nothing but great things about the Incredible Hercules run and wanted to try that out.
Though the hints about WWH I got out of this book make it sound pretty awesome. I might go back and catch up.

in The Friday Question - Reading on Pop Critics
Wow. I've really been slacking off. I don't think I even realized it until I tried to answer this question...
The last graphic novel was "WWH - Incredible Herc" which I grabbed last week. I've been wanting to pick up the Fred Van Lente run of "Incredible Hercules" - I'm a big fan of Lente from his "Action Philosophers" series - and figured I should start with this book which is the handoff from Pak. Really good, but, you know, just a lot of Hulk Smash! That's not a *book*.
About a month ago I read the first act of "Waiting for Godot" and then got distracted by something shiny...
And quite a while before that a P.G. Wodehouse, I think it was "Carry on, Jeeves".
I really haven't been reading much at all. :(

@Ralph, I'm confused. Do you want to be in a movie, or do you want to shine Johnny Depp's dirty boots?
Actually, if you were Charles S. Dutton you could have done *both* in Nick of Time.
