scientists are far behind yogis in this stuff .... but the two will never be able to talk, the yogi can easily understand the scientist, but the scientist is closed to anything outside what he considers provable ...

ha, while the video is playing the page is frozen and comments cannot be made ...

what is being called information by the scientist is an aspect of consciousness to the yogi, and is uncaused, self-referential, indistinguishable from life. the scientist with his idea of being separate from creation can never investigate this stuff, merely pose metaphors, as in the video.

information in digital form is still inert, interpretation or use is a function of something more subtle than data itself, and consciousness already runs life, so the analogy above is merely an attempt at a replica, not a reality...

and what is technology anyway, but what consciousness can already do, merely expressed in the so-called external world.

like a child, imagining his house of cards is a real castle ... fine for a child, but please, do not call this science

that is right vncent, and since the internet provides no context at all we have started to substitute more information for understanding information ......

hence, the news is polls about what people think is the news ..... a sign of sickness in both media and consumers of media ..... think the internet has had any influence there>

watch this space, we are going back to the bards and troubadors, where music was free for the listeners, maybe they gave some food and shelter, some coins, and if the band wanted to get paid again, they had to sing again, implying that they earned less than now. tell me again why rock bands should make multiple millions just because of closed distribution controls? it has totally distorted musical possibility. the internet is going to straighten out the greed and ignorance of the industry ... one result, more people making some money

ErikSchwartz I don't disagree. The money is coming out of the music business. One wonders why VCs invest in music startups, but that's another story.

On the Walmart angle...

I guarantee you that this was pressure from Walmart. Their buyers are just nasty to negotiate with. If you want an endcap from them you'll pay. Rap acts don't do clean versions for walmart out of the goodness of their hearts. They still have leverage and they wield it.

There's no Walmart in NYC. In many towns in this country, there's no retailer BUT walmart.
Karl Not exactly. The touring and performance price isn't going down (look at concert ticket prices over last 10 years). However, the pressed copy price of music may diminish, an unless it's a superior format (vinyl or blu-ray), album sales will likely drop off.

Take the case of punk band Pennywise. In the first Napster era, they were asking people to buy and not download the album in order to support the band. A few years later they're on Myspace records and gave the album away for free as a promotion. Lately, the singer has told the crowd he didn't care if they bought it or downloaded their recent albums (even prior to the MySpace deal) for free, just asked that fans play it for a friend, and bring whoever likes it to the show.

Granted, this is not representative of every band, and this is a band with ~3MM in total record sales over several years, but even Vanilla Ice and all the pop "stars" made millions more off touring than record sales. More here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22830384/

in Did HRC lose to sexism? (Scripting News) on Scripting News
After winning the nomination, the first thing Obama does is rush to speak at AIPAC - a mere 12 hours later.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/ar...

"A mere 12 hours after claiming the Democratic presidential nomination, Barack Obama appeared before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee yesterday -- and changed himself into an Israel
hard-liner.

i think it doesn't matter who got it, or who you vote for

He promised $30 billion in military assistance for Israel. He declared that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force has "rightly been labeled a terrorist organization." He used terms such as "false prophets of extremism" and "corrupt" while discussing Palestinians. And he promised that "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.""

"Obama, who has generally declined to wear an American-flag lapel pin, wore a joint U.S.-Israeli pin, and even tried a Hebrew phrase on the crowd."

in Did HRC lose to sexism? (Scripting News) on Scripting News
pretty easy to see this as answerable independent of gender ... she represented old paradigm, obama, the new... and i also have never thought of obama as "black" that has no meaning for me at all ... i know, i am unamerican, if you think of the media and polls in america as representing the american mind .... who the heck cares about gender? and why? unless you think you are your body, then maybe i can see it...
