To pump or not to pump? This issue makes me wonder about a couple of things:
1) Isn't there a very strong possibility that this TOXIC water is seeping into the ground and contaminating the ground water of surrounding areas?
2) If/when they actually begin pumping out the toxic water, what are they going to do with it? Dump it in another mine shaft? Pay a treatment facility ungodly sums of money to clean it? Dump it further down stream?

The release of his album isn't a rumor. He already had informed people on his website that the album will be out sometime the end of this year.

Great post!
With a broad stroke, I think God has gifted us all, first and foremost, for people. He has given us the unique skill sets and talents for others to take part in and enjoy. I think this is universal when talking about spiritual gifts.
Personally, with a much smaller stroke, I believe God has gifted me with leadership to inspire, encourage, and intrigue various communities of people. As you know, I have a fascination with the underdog of society.
To see hope, love, identity, significance come back to someone's eyes is truly amazing. To think that God used me to help instill this at some point in the journey is absolutely fascinating!
Then to talk about destiny and dreams... well that's just my element!

Russ, I'm fighting with you!
You asked... "Are you my Mordecai?" I think so! If not, I could be.
Great post! That last thing I want to become is Dark Spidey. I need you and others in my life to help rip off that sucker when it jumps on me. Even more, I need to stay more closely connected so that you can sense when the mask is turning a shade darker!
Thanks bro!

Russ, thanks for the work.
This is an incredible list! I look forward to coming back here many times and relearning again.
It's hard to pick out a favorite. I really liked this one. "A good leader encourages a noisy system. Let people express ideas, alternatives, and information. Ultimately the leader makes a better decision based on all the information given."
I can take a bullet for that guy!

Hey bud!
Personally, I like where Porter is coming from. It is important for us to hear from all different perspectives. Even more important, is the asking and answering of the tough questions in society.
The questions that Porter raised are community changing. It's important for us to wrestle with these kinds of things both personally and collectively. It's a "both and." What can I do? What can we do together?
I loved this statement, "The answers to these questions will determine HOW we serve our communities." What is effective in Valdosta may not be effective in Toronto.
What is beneficial and enriching to our local communities may look vastly different. However, a smile looks the same in every nation and in every language. Let that be our marker... to put a smile on every face in the community!

Great job staying awake and alert!
Flake sounds like a pretty cool dude. The fact that he's a spiritual and political leader of a community speaks volumes. That's a fine tight-rope act if I've ever seen one!
Like you, I'd love to hear a little more of his journey and the journey of his community in Queens. Maybe we should put him on a 3-way call. Why not?

As usual, great post!
Here's what jumped out for me. The radicals and pioneers in our present culture face a growing trend. At every turn we will be invited, almost even tempted, to calm down. We will be shown another way. A way resistant to change. A way driven by selfishness and greed.
However, we've been primed to step up and let our voices be heard. We've been asked to lead. We've been asked to risk it.
Like Fiorina, we will be loved by some, hated by others, and misunderstood by many. It may even cost us our "jobs." Are we willing to blaze this trail? I think we are. I'm ready! How bout you?

Great job with the week worth of posts. Can't wait to get caught up.

Russ, great post! How does Relevant find such interesting articles?
One, I agree with the protest of such waste by our supermarkets and stores. Is this a simple organizational problem? How do we not have government issued policy concerning this type of behavior? Wouldn't it be a pretty simple route to navigate? We could do so much more with just a bit of effort and concern.
Two, I applaud these guys for living this way. Like you, I wonder what they are doing with the remainder of their stash. What are they investing in? Could they use this money to raise awareness for the poor? Could they be instrumental in change?
Three, I say be more responsible with what you buy. Maybe if we quit filling our shelves with unneeded food, the stores would take some responsibility with the extra volume. We can still go and purchase food to give away at any time. But let's give the good, fresh stuff. The stuff we'd want. Not just the out of date items.
My thoughts!

What about this...
Maybe put to death the beard and go soul patch only. That might look nice with the shorter cut!
I actually shaved off the goat about a month ago in favor of the patch. It was like saying goodbye to old friend. We'd been together for about 10 years. It's been like a transformation since!
