in Posterous Wants You (To Import Your Blog) on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
That sounds very cool. Has anyone tried using posterous with a blogspot blog? What were your results? I imagine you obviously have no way to direct "old" traffic to the new blog.

Your Name*Molly Chris,
That was my EXACT question! I'll wait for an answer. Of course I could look it up to see if it's been answered elsewhere if I weren't too lazy to do so. :-P

in YouTube is Huge and About to Get Even Bigger on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Wow. Those are some big numbers. It is getting very crowded out there. At this rate, they are never going to make money from this site. They have to get very creative--I'm sure they have some stuff up their sleeves. The youtube brand is pretty darn valuable though--no other company comes close to its marketshare and consumer recognition.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of years.

Alex Luft Those numbers are huge, indeed. But do you think that brand recognition is going to be the thing that drives some users away from the site? The fact that I'm NOT on YouTube and my player doesn't look like the YouTube player (and doesn't have the logo) makes it all that much cooler that I'm on Vimeo (for example).

But I have to say, that the YouTube community (which grows from its numbers) is super-important and super-huge. I do hope they can monetize it. I'm sure they have tricks. We're just in the beginning here. Let's see where this goes in two years.

in Tumblr - users want more control on Almost As Good As Chocolate
Great points! I have been meaning to look at tumblr to see if it is a good platform for me. I haven't really understood what the big deal is or what it really lets you do. I've heard some things about the people who run it--control issues, etc.

in 2008/12/20/twitter-lawsuits/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
thx for the tip...

Ernesto What does that have to do with twittering though? If we all ran our businesses according to what our lawyers said we should and shouldn't do, we wouldn't be able to do business.

Lawyers are all risk averse... up until they get into litigation on your behalf, and then it's protracted expenditures (what a business model right?)

Business is about managing risk.

So everyone, don't buy into the "twitter is scary" hype. Just like email, chat, websites, blogs... if it will get into trouble saying it... then don't write it.

If you have honest, fair, business practices and do the best you can, you should be too busy to get into trouble online.

Want real tips? Don't anything online that you wouldn't face to face...

Don't hate on people, just ignore (thus avoid defamation lawsuits).

Don't tell people company secrets (thus avoid early terminations, breach of NDAs etc.).

Don't tell everyone your personal stuff (thus avoid "invasion of privacy").

Don't steal stuff online (thus avoid copyright violations)

Don't misrepresent yourself (thus avoid trademark/fraud accusations)

The rest is easy. So go ahead, twitter... nothing to be afraid of.
Roger We're on the same page here. Basically, if you conduct yourself ethically there is no reason to fear your Twitter activity. The scaremongering of how Twitter can be harmful is Luddite thinking that does not develop the technology. We need positive models with best practices and recommended protocols rather than a list of don'ts.

I'm not yet, and I've held off because of the lack of support for Chrome that you mention. I'm really just hitting a stride with firefox and playing around with extensions and apps.

in Stephen Colbert Takes Kanye West Head On on The Danosphere
Agreed that Kanye's music has really gone down hill. Making statements like the one he made recently are so forced and show that he's really trying too hard. Let the music speak for you. Hate the new voice machine he uses. I love Colbert.

in 2008/12/02/ask-ads/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
The ads aren't so much creepy as they are desperate. Desperate to get attention, desperate to get bloggers writing about the weird campaign and how "random" and "crazy" it is. But I have to say that when the kid is in gym class and the fat british chick is on his back, that's funny. I would definitely watch them again--so maybe they're onto something.

Good copywriters know that people who get through an entire print ad will be more likely to buy the product. If the goal is to get people watching and enticing them onto the "slippery slope" that wraps them up in the ad, then maybe this is a good campaign. Having said that, it is still a stretch to get people to try Ask.com over Google. G is too ingrained.

I love these too. I've had one for about two years, writing in it sparingly so as to preserve it. But now I see they're only ten bucks. I can write a little bigger now. These things are cool. I agree, there is something cathartic about writing in them. They have a distinctive smell too. Love the texture and the off white hue of the paper. I also dig the little pocket on the back cover. I picture hemingway and picasso when I crack it open.

Scrubs is back in full effect. I thought the first episode this season was good and funny, but it felt like maybe the series is being spread thin a little bit. This is probably the last season. But it's still a good show.

Great list of things to do when stressed. One of the best that you mention is to make something. Using creativity and getting your hands dirty is one of the best ways to get your mind off of the hundred other things you need to do.
